I'm seeing a lot of comments asking how I became sub-10 as quickly as I did, and so here was what I did for practice to get to that point - To improve from sub-30 to sub-20, I did an average of 50 each day, and that was all I needed to do for about a month. I continued doing that until I was averaging around 16 or 17 seconds (this was about 3 or 4 months after I started cubing) and then I kicked it up to an average of 100 every day. This, along with working on lookahead, efficiency, and learning full OLL, got me to around sub-14 (about 6 months after I started cubing). Then I just did lots and lots of solving for about another 6 or 8 months, learned how to track my first pair, and I was sub-10 pretty soon after that.
One thing that's helping me improve is to just slow down my turning speed. Not just for slow solves, just all the time. If you turn extremely fast you have a higher chance of messing up and pausing. So if you turn really fast, slow down.
UberCuber :"This tutorial is for CFOP, so u should know full OLL and PLL." Me :Goes to my bag and takes out GAN's CFOP tutorial paper and starts learning OLLS
I started cubing during late 2016 or early 2017. I got my first sub-10 single about a year and a half later, and I just recently got my first sub-8 single which is a 7.83 :)
I have been cubing in Feb this year I really want to be sub 10 by the end of the year I am now averaging high 15 I really wanto to achieve my goal. Huge thanks for this video😃
Guys , if you are averaging like 11 / very low 12 seconds and you can't seem to improve through raw practice , then solve bigger cubes preferably 4x4 . Do about 15 solves and come back to 3x3. It really worked for me , and also take breaks like every 50 solves if you average 11 like me otherwise you just get tired and will get worse solves , thus get frustrated. I am trying to do slow solves to improve my look ahead now , if I cut out most of the pauses during F2L ( algorithm execution between pairs ) . I average in the low 10 seconds , so improve your look ahead mainly if you average 11.
Hi, I know the comment is old but I wanted to ask: in your opinion the improvement on 3x3 that you get by practicing 4x4 (or bigger cubes in general) is due to you being more focused once you switch back to 3x3 or is it something else?
I do big cubes, and I can confirm that it improved my times in 3x3. I went from 25 secs to 15 secs on 3x3 by doing big cubes. I do 10-50 solves a day on 5x5, 6x6 or 7x7 depending on what I like to practice.
ROEVOSS I’ve been averaging 23 in 2 yrs, coz i don’t practice a lot but there are sometimes when I suddenly get into cubing temporarily (like right now)
I can confirm that you only need to learn to track your first pair in inspection consistently once you're around sub 8 or so. I'm at around like 8.5-8.7 and I only track my first pair around 1/12 solves.
I have also an idea that I practicing from beginners method, like two look layer first then a second ao5 doing 1 look pll, 2 look oll, then and so on until I got advanced method
Well i've been cubing for 5 years, and only this year i am averaging Sub-20. But this is due to wrong techniques, i have been practicing the wrong way for 4 years and only this year my times are finally increasing. Now i realize that practice is nothing without technique. Hopefully I can achieve sub-10 next year:)
MJBCuber basically everything mentioned in this video, and look ahead and tps. I never knew look ahead and tps goes hand in hand. Algorithms play a big role too, how fast you execute them. I have only practiced algorithms but i have never practiced look ahead and tps. I thought turning faster is the only way....man i was wrong. So yeah...I've been a noob for 4 years
I picked up cubing very quickly. According to my friend who taught me, I got crazy fast crazy quick. I only started a couple months ago, and my record is 15. My average fluctuates, but it's always sub-30. Sometimes sub-25.
Dang, I wish I had this video then I was trying to get sub ten. I would also work on tps consistency though. That's really what got me from sub 11 to sub 10!
Another tip: get a better cube! In my case, the best speedcube I have is a Yj Yulong, which is not that good and it's not even lubed because I don't have a lubricant.
Portuguese subtitles please, I'm Brazilian I understand a little English but still I do not understand everything because I do not have much vocabulary but I like your channel and I watch anyway
Just to let everyone know full oll is actually not nessecary for people with a fast tps for their average. I currently have an official 8.56 average with knowing 1/2 of oll. Full oll will obvoiusly be nessecary later on, but may not be needed to break this barrier.
How much does the cube impact it? I get around 16 seconds on average and the cube usually locks up on me when I turn the cube too fast. Should I get a new cube or should I slow down or what should I do?
Only practice doesnt. U need to know the correct way and correct and the fastest algorithm and practice it. When ur sub 30 and if u practice no change(for me). Ive been cubing for 2years and im sub 10 now, but i need to practice alot by knowing the correct and fastest algorithm. Good luck Karna Panjari.

never
:D
Sameer C so Feliks Zemdegs and Max Park just need to slow down their turning to get sub 4.
No,if your look ahead is perfect when you slow down. You should speed up to get better lookahead

I'm sub 18 in 5 months
I’m sub-11 after 1.75 years or so, but everyone has their own pace.

Why am I watching this I use the beginners method
Easiest answer:
You bacame mad
If you use Roux, that last tip also applies to tracking DR during inspection and transitioning smoothly from fb to sb.
Thanks for making this video I have averaged 10.2 for a while now and I’m sure this will help me a lot

The moment you said fix your algorithms, you did the OLL alg I was finding for months. Yeah, I used the crappy old M Sune U M'.
How did you get sub 10 in a little more than a year? How much did you practice each day and what did u practice ?
