The feeling that he mentions is the feeling that I get for everyone of their songs. Sometimes it takes a few listens to get it, but it always comes. Man, is it the best whenever it does though. The Strokes are so fucking amazing and I can't even begin to comprehend it. I'm happy that that was their goal because they certainly have achieved it!
No like same i had to listen to their music a few times like non stop to COMPLETELY fall in love with their music and I’m so glad I did cause their music is THE BEST❤️
wow..when you realize that he is only 22 years old here..it blows your mind! he's handling the interview so well... I think it's because the media really took swipes at the Strokes over the years..and later on he became very careful with his answers..and also a little jaded (you can't blame him.) but I LUV seeing him so happy here! It's like the interviews he did around the time of his solo tour - real happy and relaxed.
This is probably before he became jaded with the music business, he still had a lot of hope about it. It's beautiful to see him so genuinely optimistic...
It’s that feeling when you hear your favorite song… that feeling whether you’re in a car or a party or alone at home in bed, and you hear the song and it hits you so strong… that’s sort of my favorite thing about music- Julian Casablancas OMG this is one of my favorite interviews!!!!
I met Julian when he was 4 yrs old, I worked for his dads modeling agency Elite. I remember how much his dad talked about his son and how much he loved him:-)
This is an amazing interview considering that Jules does not like to talk a lot in them... the interviewer seemed to have some troubles making up the questions (maybe he did not speak english) but Julian was so patient and considerate, he answered all the questions and even tried to help the interviewer through them. I really like it!
Here at 1:25 am. Amazed because Jules has changed so much. Now he write lyrics about politics and now he is an icon of rock music. Jules born to shine.
when he talks about that feeling you get when you listen to amazing songs, i smiled cause i get that feeling with every strokes song and that's how i knew they were the best. that's my favorite thing about music too.
What he says about cultural differences between NYC and Denmark is so insightful. It makes a lot of sense, and it's pretty impressive considering he's probably buzzed
He mentioned that The Strokes aim was to make music that hits you hard and gets to you. Well they've very well succeeded and so has Julian Casablancas on his solo album. :)
When he talks about what he aims to achieve when he creates music how he wants it to catch attention and that brilliant feeling that gets inside you. thats what I feel like when I listen to their songs. Julian your mission is acomplished you made me feel like that ! Thank you
I don't think the ones where he's drunk are 'better'. He's more relaxed and less awkward, of course, that's probably why he drank in the first place, but it's in the sober interviews that you can see how he really is and sometimes even catch a glimpse of how his mind works. Watch the Brian Williams interview, for instance, or the amazing podcast he did this year with Har Mar Superstar.
I honestly agree what he says about how he feels about lyrics. When I listen to the song, its the beat, the vibe, the arrangement that makes me go oh man!
Julian you got what you wanted, cause every time I hear a song from The Strokes, I can't get a smile from my face and it's some special feeling... So yeah... You made it
the bit where he is talking about his mam, aaaaaaaaaaw :) i love this interview, julian seems really nice and makes the most incredible music. plus he is bloody gorgeous ahaha.
Yeesss. his answer to the idea behind the Strokes. To make listeners feel to connect basically. That's when I know it's good music. When it has so much meaning to me or multiple meanings. Or that can make me cry. Or pull a feeling from me that doesn't usually come out. The Strokes, Voidz, and Julian solo ALWAYS do that for me. 😻🔥🖤💜🖤💜🖤🔥😻
I clicked on this vid for the hot Danish cousin quote but "It's not reallly hard, I mean our ablum hasn't come out yet yk and magazines, they make us seem like stars but you walk in the street and it's not like people are recognizing you. I think once the album comes out and people hear the music, is when I'll be interested in what the reaction is. Right now, I don't care. We put enough pressure on ourselves to keep getting better but I'm not worried about what journalists who are trying to sell magazines are writing." rlly hit hard and Julian is so cute and smiley in this interview
He's still very eloquent . you can hear it in his music . i believe he's just tired of them the interviews.. He also struggles with being himself infront of the camera and feels very awkward . he gets very quiet . but once the cameras are off he's himself and very talkative and eloquent . you can see this in videos of him meeting fans .
What he thinks about his music is right what it makes me feel. The Strokes are a whole thing, not something in pieces each of them is absolutely necesary or else they aren't the Strokes. I like them all.
every morning on the drive to school i play only stokes songs. and then during school i get this reallly good feeling when i think about the music. like its really cool, i cant explain it. hahaha "hard to explain" but i mean i completely understand what he was saying in this interview about that feeling. i get it.
It is interesting he says they don't have a political message. But Julien is such a great lyricist that his lyrics are vague enough to be interpreted in different ways. He says in another interview, "I can get greedy with meaning." I am listening to Is This It and a lot of it sounds like societal critique from a first person observation of life in all its different facets including romantic relationships. Not necessarily realizing what is going on just kind of saying what you see and only after realizing, "oh, this is fucked up." "Is This It?" Ya know?
haha, we all have the same feeling. the strokes music is just like omg! dude, every 24/7 i listen to the strokes. i kept mentioning about them. 2years non stop. fuckin love them~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn. I mean, i'm a guy and i agree he's hella good looking, but let's talk about something else besides that. xD Julian your voice is pimp dude! My favorite indie rock band
This interview gives me such joy but an overpowering amount of sorrow as well because in his later interviews, Julian seems absolutely dead inside. The industry really fucks with people sometimes.
he seems a bit annoyed in the beginning but he kinda gets into it and is being really really nice to the interviewer,it turns out to be one of the best interviews of him really. nice!

6:20 He´s talking about Roskilde Dyrskue, being born in that city, I´ve been to the same street markets, at the same time as Julian, cool to think about. Could be awesome if he got a summer-vacation home in Denmark, and used it to write music and just walk around and speak danish and chill.
WHY DOES HE HAVE TO BE SO COOL
cececcececee why? There's no why

Cuz he is from NYC!
You think maybe because he has the default cloud of sadness always hanging over him?

Yes, I think the same. He was so relaxed and knew how to conduct the interview. He was so cool.

"It's not like we have a political message or anything like that." And then he made Tyranny
Aj Ledoux HA TRUE
+Aj Ledoux By "then" you mean 13 years later...
One of the best albums ever with a great message :)
Yea like the other guy said 13 years later and also he didn't make that with the Strokes which is what he refers to when he says "we"
Aj Ledoux he said the album is more about morality than politics though hmm
I met Julian when he was 4 yrs old, I worked for his dads modeling agency Elite. I remember how much his dad talked about his son and how much he loved him:-)
You can tell this is when shit started taking off. The happiness on his face and tone of his voice is of a man whose dreams were coming true

He has such an amazing charm

musical genius. i never like a band quite as much as i like the strokes.

That feeling he's talking about, I get it for almost all their songs. It's a beautiful feeling.

As a dane I can say that he is cool as hell! Proud to have (half) the same nationality as Casablancas.
His NY accent is so subtle that it’s hard to notice, but when it comes out, it’s so gentle sounding 🖤 fuck why do I love him so much??
It makes me feel good knowing how down to earth this band is, and what they aim for. I CANNOT wait for their next album! =)
So did u like the 2 last albums? Excellent right !!!
An interview before Is This It? came out. Julian you certainly made songs that give me that feeling, my favourite album of all time. Thank you.
