He’s so open and focused during this interview. After all these years we finally have a Julian interview where he’s coherent. Also the fit went hard I need to see him shop for clothes
This guy can make julian laugh & telling his secret songwriting, singing technique. What an interviewer. Julian so relaxed just like talking to a musicians friend
respect how the interviewer actually has all this knowledge on the voidz and asked good questions, it may seem like a given but usually he never gets a break from interviewers asking the same basic questions and talking about the strokes instead of the voidz
He is up there with all the greats in my.opinion. fantastic writer then you realise he wrote all the music to basically all the first two albums as well 😊
love or hate the new album, but we can agree that The Voidz are one of the bands out there pushing music boundaries. I rather listen to their failures than to other's successes (and I'm not saying this album is a fail. I didn't like it as much as I liked Tyranny and Virtue after the first listening, but I'm aware that I need to listen to it again a couple of times more before judging). Also... I would love to see Julian performing his solo album live. It has been left aside and there's great stuff there
Julian must be the most underrated composer in music. Dude wrote all the lyrics and MUSIC of The Strokes. Any guitarrist learning Srokes songs ( Albert and Nick's parts) can appreaciate his genius. He is also the complete package: decent singer, writes his own lyrics, plays instruments, good looking, makes quality music and has personality.
I’m so happy n grateful to see these new interviews and hearing new music by Julian, bc he’s so good. Even his speaking voice, yes he’s quite correct, we fans are obsessive..
I think this is the best interview Julian has ever done, because the interviewer was so concentrated and cool. The one on the fistful of vinyl was also very good but in this one Julian was more paying attention and wasn't THAT tired, so yeah, great job guyz!
@@chan_martinwhen something like this follows up a masterpiece like Virtue, it’s atrocious in comparison for sure. But the fact they spent 6 years just to release unfinished jam sessions and playing around with synths… brutal
I’m really glad they put out an album. I love the singles “Did my best”is one of my favs but after some years since Virtue it’s nice for a collective of songs to be put out I missed em to be honest and an album is a great way to identify what they up to nowadays. All the songs together kinda take on one whole collective meaning. It’s like they’re saying “Hello” again. 👍🏻👍🏻
I feel like Julian has been the chef d’orchestre of the music industry for well over 20 years at this point, he’s always been leading the way making timeless songs, making music of the time while evolving himself. The Strokes became legendary but The Voidz is incredible following in the same footsteps of becoming a legendary band, and it’s all due to the fact that Julian renewed himself like a phoenix, i feel like it’s unseen. Not everything about the Voidz is top class but I have a playlist building up and i feel like it’s my favourite music at this point. I don’t know who else managed to stay that relevant for the past 20 years aside from Julian Casablancas who’s definitely not appreciated enough, at least in my eyes
The songs i didnt hear until the album are incredible. How can you be a fan of an artist if you want your expectation to dictate their art? Its not sonic the hedgehog 😂
I forget every one of my dreams unless it's a song I hear in the dream then I write when I wake up. Best songs I've written are from dreams or melodies that just seem to fall out of thin air.
As a huge voidz fan I’m not too crazy about the new album and I don’t think it’s anywhere near the level of their first two, but I gotta admit it’s grown on me. The tunes are mostly solid at their core and the weird production evokes a campy 80’s B movie in a fun retro kinda way. Fingers crossed they’ve got more better material on the way soon tho, russian coney island needs a studio version asap
I had a neighbor who loved me and she loved the strokes, particularly Julian. Anyways, she blew me regularly for a year and eventually cut my name in her arm. Her mom showed up at my door in the rain looking for her. I told her I didn’t know where she was.

That's what I needed. An interview with Julian about music!

He's the only man to pull off a mullet
Albert Hammond Jr rocked an exquisite curly mullet last year (Melodies On Hiatus era) and that was pretty hard to beat.

Julian Casablancas is in the Apple Podkart building♪ dresses like The German Dinner Lady, but still...all the ladies and gents showed up to the office. This is still Greatest Of All Time™️®︎©️ because he's...been asked to collaborate with Daft Punk, Sparklehorse...soundtrack to Vinyl...BTW he's still trapped in 1982-88. The Strokes own 'Is This It' and Julian wrote 'Phrazes For The Young' a genius LP.
