I'm not sure if you've done this BUT I'd love to see a video of the tools/supplies you use to create your work. Glues, paints etc.

I would really like this as well. I’m very new to Kitbashing and scratch building. I would love more step by steps, tools and process vids.
Somehow I never thought to take apart electronics for parts. I've been collecting plastic forks and bottle pieces and there is only so much detail and inspiration I can pull out. Electronics always have really precisely made parts and are designed to be compact. Best tip I've found for finding trash bashing greeblies, thanks!
That's me every time I find something new to be taken apart, or an interesting piece inside something! Sometimes I find new stuff in things I've overlooked and threw away multiple times .. There are an infinite amount of interesting pieces out there, from coffee pods to electronics! The key is to be curious (and do some research for safety, if you're not sure whats inside!) Thanks a lot and stay safe buddy !!
Don't forget broken children's toys, lots of small stuff inside
Hahahahaha... I dismantle anything electronics, toys and appliances that fall into my hands and reserve for later making spaceships, dioramas and robots. I've been doing this since the 80's and today I can go through a junk accumulator ... hahahahaha. But, I use things sooner or later. This week I spent a fine comb on my junk and said goodbye to printer parts, which were very large and classified the rest by size, thus facilitating the search for a certain format.
I was very happy to know that I am not the only one to do such a thing. Hahahahaha

Awesome! I've been taking thins apart for the last 10 years or so, you're totally right, things get used on a project sooner or later! I have pieces that I carry around for many years until I find the right place to put them.. I dream about exchanging greeblies with other junkbashers/scratchbuilders like us :)
I tend to save everything I take apart. I have more small screws than I know what to do with. I doubt if I am alone in this, but I have been taking things apart since I was 4. I wasn't able to put anything back together but, figuring out how things went together and what was inside was the fun part. Thank you for sharing again.
I'm a hoarder when it comes to greeblies, but I like to keep things well organized in plastic sorting boxes, so that I can actually use it when needed :D

I'm pretty certain that I've just found my favourite YooBoob channel; I get to legitimately "collect" bits of cool-looking stuff, and my wife can no longer complain that I'm "hoarding junk"! 🤪
P.S. I took one of our old printers apart about a month ago under the premise of wanting any motors/servos *_looks around, nervously, and whispers_ and I saved loads of funkeh-looking bits from it... I was destined to do this hobby! 😆
Excellent video, I'm currently dismantling 2 Nerf guns and a TV recorder box and finding some nice pieces. Your video shows what can be obtained with some exploration. Well done!

It really is fun finding all of the unique components inside. I sometimes don't want to use them because they are too cool and I'm unlikely to find that exact piece again.
In those cases, maybe try to mold those pieces, and keep the original :)
@@CutTransformGlue I like it being a unique piece, until one day it's destiny is fulfilled and it's perfect application is discovered by accident. I do cast parts but I'm also idiosyncratic.
I had some from old printers old the one uses ink rolls. And old inks carrtage. They was torn apart for space ship construction. Very cool. And i had a child war helmet plastic. Was planning to make a cool stempunk from it. But all was lost during a move.
Oh, that's a bummer! There are lots of old electronics being thrown away everyday though, keep an eye for it and don't give up :)
this printer is surprisingly clean inside. Last one I looked into was full of ink spills.
From my experience, printers are becoming more and more simpler and cleaner on the inside..

Be cool to do a build only using as much of the printer as possible and only stuff from the print, including the body. Bot or ship. lots of flat panels for a ship with the print body.
Don't forget to ask the personal at the goodwill store if they got in "broken electronics "

Nice! Any mechanical electronic will have those goodies, but printers are the best!
I have found mini hydraulic systems in larger printers. It's so neat to use unique things like that.

My wife cringes every time we drive past a dead printer someone left on the sidewalk. She knows I'm going to sneak back and grab it :)
I took apart an industrial sized printer someone was giving away on Craigslist. Best pieces I have ever gotten. It took 2 weeks just to dismantle and weighed at least 3 times my body weight. I wish I could find more printers of smaller sizes. Have fun being sneaky!
Man, you find sidewalk printers!? Dude, that's like finding a glimmering treasure chest in broad daylight. Not going to lie, I'm envious & also proud that you recycle, good job
@@earthmanbrick haha, I'll let my wife know that, she might be happier 😁. I don't find them often, but people do tend to throw them out - it's the printer manufacturers' fault for making new printers cheap, and replacement cartridges expensive.
@@kurogiza You're not wrong, man. Making them so cheap means repairs are pointless, general electricians only do repairs now via maintenance contracts these days as a result. Can't complain though, not when you get free crafting materials as a result.
Truth be told, I often carry a set of wire-cutters with me incase I find disused cableties, they're perfect greeble & have so many more uses.
Infact, a health portion of my channel builds are made using cable ties
@Chris Venter and @earthmanbrick Have you guys noticed how simpler the printers re getting on the inside? I've taken apart probably more than 10 printers over the last years and I gotta say, older ones where the best!

I listen to lots of podcasts (this american life, radiolab and others), and to many different music genres, but mainly prog metal (been listening to Tesseract a lot lately)
