GPS Shows Alex Murdaugh’s Car at Home on Night Wife and Son Killed: Investigator

- GPS data from Alex Murdaugh’s vehicle was presented in the disgraced lawyer’s family murders trial Friday. Prosecutors allege this data proves Murdaugh not only lied about his timeline on June 7, 2021 but was also at his South Carolina home around the time Paul and Maggie were killed.

I've watched everyday of the trial but this vehicle evidence is just damning. His car going to the exact spot of Maggie's cell phone. This was brilliant investigation work. This was the home run.
Same! And I feel the same exact way
Yes! They are closing in! Watch him squirm!
Are they saying Maggie’s phone was close to Alex while he traveled? I’m lost!
Let’s hope there’s not a fix in the jewelry stand
I hope I’m wrong, but could this be possible another not guilty he’s got a lot of pull
Not in a hurry to get home from work, but in a real hurry to get to his mother's house...(after the killer did his deed)
Exactly…an alibi and a chance for a once over…make sure nothing🫵🏻at him…technology snagged a lawyer
The erratic driving was obviously his brain was completely in a panic
He would consider not going through with it
He slowed down to drop the phone then sped up afterwards. WOW
👍exactly he didn't do the perfect crime as he taught, actually a terrible crime
I wonder how far he threw the phone. Going 45mph
Time stamp?
I'm just wondering if originally he was going to kill only Paul but then when Maggie happens to be into The Persuasions he killed her too but he called her and asked her specifically to come there so we could have just chilled Paul not done Maggie I don't understand his reasoning about getting rid of both of them Paul was a liability not Maggie even though he thinks she was going to divorce him he could have probably save that situation
Did they look for the phone where he slowed down
You can’t commit a crime in this day and age no more too much data cameras you can’t move without anyone knowing which is absolutely fantastic I think for the safety of people
Best comment and most truth ppl will still think they can get away with murder
That's true until the Government starts controlling you
Exactly, they are solving 60 year old cold cases with modern technology, DNA Science and forensics. To think you can commit a crime today and get away with it is almost delusional.
Not necessarily for the safety of people but more so after the fact when a person safety has already been violated, to catch the perpetrator.
He must have been out of his mind thinking he could, being a lawyer. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
He drove 80mph at 9pm at night to go spend only 20mins with his poor mother? I hope they searched his mom's property well for evidence he was trying to hide or destroy...
He needed an alibi to be at his mom's. I'm sure he had already burned the evidence. It took them 6 months till he was put in jail, but there is more electronic mountain of evidence he has to account for. Who knew the phone and car computer can tell so much about our habits. I understand now why it took that long to compile all this evidence.
Plus….he knew his mom would be asleep. I don’t think he really went to see / spend time with his mom.
Yes I hope…maybe something went with daddy
@@angiecoers6255 It took so long because, I believe, because the car company ignored the subpoena. I deal with that all the time.
@@cordelianoelle3644 Not that they ignored the request...there just needs to be proper approvals and process followed for these things. Takes time to get legal sign off etc.
He is guilty.
Wow, first trial I’ve seen where GPS and satellite imagery has been use this extensively!! Big brother is watching!
Boy I bet he wasn't thinking about all this evidence when he was committing these crimes
Kill first....figure out later!
And yet people think he's guilty for saying whoever did this planned it. Shrug.
Tracking technology never occurred to him.
He is the absolute dumbest lawyer ever
How did he not know this would be tracked ?
My God
He should have done a NG by reason of insanity
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🙌
Narcissistic sociopath with an addiction issue and impending financial ruin and theft charges… he was not thinking too clearly
👌😂😂😂
Yes, Step Two talks about being restored to sanity but AM hasn't done it yet.
Arrogance is a powerful form of denial.
He is so F***d now. How will defense counter this?
Alex should just stand up, put his hands in the air and give the Prosecutors a well deserved compliment, then say, “You got me.” This evidence alone is damning at the very least. I am enjoying watching Alex trying to laugh it off with his lawyers. The gall of that guy is beyond belief.
Yeah, just give up his rights. Why not. 😆
I think Alex laughing with his attorneys at the evidence is in poor taste and he may regret it. You never know what will cause a juror to decide he’s definitely guilty.
My comment was not meant to include “ the letter of the law.” Of course he has a right to have representation and does. It was a comment on the EVIDENCE- which is outright damning. But the Defense still gets a turn.
@@DonnaLena1 I did not mean to imply that his “laughing” was appropriate. It is not. Just his bizarre way of trying to portray “innocence.”
@@doglover8204 I didn’t mean to criticize you! I agree wholeheartedly that Alex and his defense team are decidedly nasty. They strike me as arrogant in the way they seem to assume Alex will be found not guilty.
Ty technology for showing us the lies and manipulation one man has done and the shameful killings of his family. I have no idea who this family is. I’m in Canada and I have been following this case. What a disgusting human being. Between the video of Paul and the dog, the interviews and now the suburban technology. I have no words. My heart goes out to their families and friends.
Save your pity for those truly in need!
@@karadiberlino harsh. Have a heart. Though they are terrible people they didnt deserve this. Maggie and Paul didn't deserve this. I do feel sympathy for the family but mostly the friends who were deceived and defrauded by this man.
TLDR-
Paul's Kennel Video: 8:45pm- 2-3 people testified Alex's voice
State's Theory and autopsy: Paul and Maggie were killed ~9PM
Left the home: 9:07pm- Maggie's Cell phone found along the route. Right where he started speeding up.
Arrived at Almeda: 9:22pm
Left Almeda: 9:45pm -The housekeeper was right he was there for only 20 mins.
Arrived home: 10pm
Drives to Murder scene: 10:06pm - Makes 911 call
This does not bode well for Alex Murdaugh. He sure looks guilty.
Earlier in the week, confirmed that 7 ppl on the witness stand had all confirmed AM's voice to be on the tape which puts him at the right time to be at the kennel to proceed with the murders.
So what, 2 different murder weapons? Both have slings. Super deadly shotgun and rifle. Each weapon made to be slung over the shoulder...
OMGod if dogs could only talk!
And he's speeding at times upwards 75-80 miles/hr on bad roads with deer to mom's, but only driving like 28 MPH to the house to get a gun, then back to the kennels, after discovering their bodies. Just like Maggie's sister said, he was acting like someone who was afraid of the real killers being out there.
Oh, I hope that the jury gets it right, because there's no way that he's innocent... whether pulling the trigger himself or being there while others committed the murders.🤞🏾
Wasn't afraid...
The only issue is when/ where did he change
Thx for the TLDR! You're doing the lords work!
man...everything was tracked!

I humbly disagree with you. How could anyone with as soul or conscience take all those severely injured peoples money, no one I hope I know. He stole 99 people’s settlements so he could live his lavish lifestyle. Plus he lied several time about his location during the murders, asked Ms Smith and Blanca to verify his alibi.
I doubt if AM knew his GM vehicle with Onstar was constantly sending it's position & speed data to the car maker's cloud & that info could be subpoenaed. Whoops!
Yup. Just because you don't subscribe to On-Star doesn't mean it's still not connecting to its satellite system. If your car has a GPS mapping app, it WILL track your location even when not in use.
Yep, BIG WHOOPS!!
If you don't have OnStar could it track you the GPS track you if you just had satellite radio I'm just wondering
@@kelleyrancher Sat radio does not have GPS location function as far as I'm aware. It just needs to pick up incoming audio data feed for it to do its thing. A cell phone could also have a gps logging function working for several reasons and thus provide tracking detail. Also, if gps is not operating, the phone will also be "pinging" signals off local cell towers, which can be used to locate the phone within a relatively large zone.
@@kelleyrancher Sorry, I'm no expert. I have a GM car with Onstar that I disabled completely by pulling its fuse. A lot of new cars with internet connectivity have location tracking built in.

Buster was giving some random guy a bj at the time all this occured
His goose is cooked . What a disgusting human being . May Maggie and Paul and Buster ( he lost his entire family ) get Justice .
May the girl that Paul killed also get justice.
Yeh, I feel bad for Buster. It's a little puzzling and weird to me however that neither Buster nor AM ever mentions on any of the jail calls about Buster's safety. Not once do they EVER mention the alleged individual who committed this crime. THAT speaks volumes to me.

@@susanstephenson648 I’m sorry is he being tried for the housekeeper here ? Not understanding why you couldn’t just make your own comment .
Buster is going down next for Steven. Buster is also helping his dad hide money. I have no sympathy for him. All those jail calls, not one tear shed for his mom or brother. All this time in court, not one tear. I would have to leave the courtroom when the medical examiner testified. Buster just calmly sits and watches, then gives his dad a nice smile when the day is over. Sociopaths run deep in that family. Pure evil.
This in itself says he was up to something. No one drives 80mph on back roads just because.
EVERYONE KEEPS FORGETTING THAT THE SISTER-IN-LAW SAID THAT WHOEVER DID THIS TO MAGGIE, HAD BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT FOR A LONG TIME!!!
She said that because Alex told her that. She was repeating what he said.
It is my understanding that it was Alex who said that..
People are forgetting it because it's not proof nor is it relevant
Alex told her that and why would he make such a statement especially to a family member who is already suffering from their loss. That only is suspicious!!!
AM said that TO the sister!! Eeek!
Ok so...he was clearly home when this happened. "Someone" or two "Someones" supposedly, according to him, who knew the property well, made their way onto the property, shot two different guns, killing Maggie and Paul, and Alex didn't hear a thing, didn't see anything different, didn't try to alert his wife/child that he was leaving after begging her to come home, left the property and didn't notice anything off, and when he got back home he went to the kennels instead of his house (why?) and randomly discovered Maggie and Paul dead. Uh huh. Like anyone in their right mind would buy that.
Exactly !!!!
He went directly to the kennels because he says that’s where his wife and son were at before he left to visit his mom.
Somebody in low country on that juror might know he's all lies bur will vote not Quilty n use reasonable doubt that wasn't reasonable because they are friends or because they live n breathe the air in low country n they went to school in low country

Maybe Buster (I hate they don't use his real name, that's my dog's name) is going to be a hitman, or in charge of Alex's stolen money, as long as he does what daddy tells him to do. They should watch him closely after Alex goes to prison. The girls family accepted an undisclosed amount from their lawsuit "from Buster"! 👈That doesn't make sense, because Maggie, and Paul were being sued, and the family wants Buster to be left alone. Àlso the family is being looked at for a 15 year olds death, a hate crime. Paul's friend is saying this. And he's afraid because the family "covers up things". I’ve never heard of a case getting GPS data during the trial. They almost didn’t get GM data.
The look on his face now he knows he's toast
How would any other killer know that Paul was in that feed room and go there specifically to get him first? Wouldn`t the killer go to the lodge where Maggie was assuming the family would be there? How would it be possible that any killer would drive up to the property and Paul being in the feed room not hearing a vehicle approaching and stepping outside the feed room to check who is comming to the property? There was no other killer than the accused himself, period.
Alex called Maggie to come there. She told her sister she didn't really want to go. It was all set up so he could kill them at the same time. Alex even told the sister that the killer (him) had been planning this for a very long time.
@@andreacollum7887 Exactly. Incredible statement . Only one way he knew how long the killer had been planning it right ?
@@chasermalloy7406 Right!
I think given that he knew the law firm would find out eventually, Alex and Paul were taking his pills, Paul caused a 30 million lawsuit. Maggie wanted to settle it. Maggie was frustrated and bringing up him cheating and possibly contemplating divorce, that he was planning to get rid of them for weeks to solve the law firm issue, the boat issue and get them off his case. Buster was his favourite and mini me so he got to live. Probably forming something concrete the second Jeannie started asking questions. What I don't get is his family knows he lured them down and he lied about that. His family knows he was there the time of the murders and he lied about that. His family knows he asked the housekeeper and nurse to lie about times and what he was wearing. Yet his sister, Buster and John Marvin and all of their partners happily chat to him and laugh after court is over like Paul's and Maggies lives meant nothing. So basically they do whatever they want because if it ran into a fine or being pulled over even for say speeding or reckless driving they would either say pay a small or even a large fine but no loss of licence or no real change to their lives like many people who do drive or steal or even hunt out of season really not much changes to their day to day??

This is literally a Perry Mason moment.
This data is incredible. Paul’s phone data is hero status. Makes me think it’s a good idea to put those apple location tags on your guns.
How about not having 50-plus guns at your home?
This is damning evidence, presented in such a clear visual way with so much data that it's very compelling.
Most striking is that we're visually tracking the shared location of Alex's vehicle & Maggie's phone after the murders, & also the extreme contrast of Alex's typical 45 mph speed travelling home from work at 6 pm vs his up to 80 mph speed barrelling down the dirt road in the dark after leaving the murders scene at Moselle (to get to his parents' Almeda house & back to Moselle as quickly as possible).
But, it is still possible MM's phone was not at its final location at the time the vehicle went past. We do not have a ping off the phone's location in the minutes leading up to and immediately after the vehicle went past. We only know the phone was located there once the police triggered the "Find My Phone" process the next day. It could have been placed there a while prior to AM's car passing or even much later than that.
He passed by the area where the phone was located at 42 MPH. He didn't stop there. He could not have thrown the phone that distance from his vehicle. That is a lot farther than he could have thrown that phone while driving 42 miles per hour.
there are plenty of holes.
@@JoeBlow_4 the detective testified phone was not further than could be thrown from a car passing on the roadway. We really need to see when phone got there, by a cell tower or gps data point around time vehicle was moving after 9pm. Then we'd know beyond doubt phone was moved, tossed by him.
@@annsmith3192 really? Can you name one?
People cite the lie about being at the kennels as being pivotal, but I believe this is even more damning evidence. Nice timing of a break by the prosecution to allow the jury time to let that tech evidence sink right in. Interesting to see the defence attorney's body language, with arms crossed as a barrier, That testimony worried them.
So he was there, had motive, had his wife's phone, speeding to go see his mom, changed clothes, lied at every turn...you could go on and on and on...
This is huge and a clincher! Whatever speck of hope I had deep down that a husband/father would never have killed his wife and son, are totally gone. I think just yesterday I wrote on a video that showed AM through cop’s bodycam, that his clean clothes and behavior convinced me that it was him. Yet, somehow that feeling was accompanied by a dim hope that I was being biased against him. This does it completely. Sealed. This is terribly upsetting and disturbing. From arrival at the kennels It only took him 18 seconds to locate and check the condition of his loved ones that were 30 feet apart. Bye bye Alex. Save room for Buster. He’ll be joining you soon.
The prosecution did a really good job of linking him to all the circumstantial evidence. They really did prove that he was the only one that had the means, motive, and opportunity to commit the crime. Nicely done. This was phenomenal.
The time and location of his car and Maggie's phone last being handled might be the only evidence required out of the mountain of evidence against him already.
GAME OVERRRRRRRRR ALEX U ARE DONE
Watching from Penang Island, Malaysia. You've got great detectives there. Great job!
My sincere and deepest condolences to her family. 🙏🏾🥺
Hey fellow Malaysian. I'm watching from KL.
To think that Alex's lawyers has to defend him and probably realises that he is the person who committed these crimes.
Good old boys want there money they know he’s guilty
@@terid3569”Their” man. Goodness
@@DrivenA111 Change your diaper. You're getting miserable😃😃
or better yet, go troll the internet for grammarly mistakes.
@@DrivenA111 By the way, you forgot the full stop after your sentence / exclamation. Goodness!
@@DN-kz7xl Why? So you’ll point out something less significant? What wrong with you? Miss me with this.
It's a wrap for him. This paints a clear picture of his panic and evidence cleaning
"Goose Cooked and Ready!". What a,sick man and his son is not well either! I would be sooooo disgusted and hurt beyond imagination to know that my Dad did this!". Yet,, ole Buster just sits there emotionless and without a single tear! Cold-hearted!
I'll never understand how a father could blow his own sons head off.
💯
I just can't understand it either, people are just horrible
You have to remember these aren’t human beings we’re dealing with
Boy I love this guy . And notice throughout this guy's testimony how Alex now becomes very interested in the cross. This is what a guy who thinks ( or thought) he WAS in control . Look at his discust in his lawyer's redirect. He knows he's been had .
He rubs his eyes when the defence call their first two witnesses!! His lawyers are clutching...
He's a coward. He should of plead guilty instead of putting his family and maggie's family through this horrific crime.
The car speed alone should convict his nasty self...he is so guilty!!!
I wonder if they can check on that hit and run with GPS.
Only if the airbags blew, which they didn’t
All of that coughing makes it sound like a tuberculosis ward.
I’m with you. It’s rude and full of potential viruses.
❤Thanks Law & Crime you’re covering this with the 3 boxes , Great mini clips & sound 😊Appreciate your work 🫶🏻fifi
And the prosecution drops the mic 🎤 . Boom, gotcha Alex
I'm also amazed and didn't know it was possible, cell phone data can show when a phone is moved, down to the minor axtion of just being picked up, or the screen activated!!! I'd love to know if that's all phones or just specific ones - it blows my mind.
@@angelabobanna7774😲
The prosecution is having to go up against power and priviledge.
its annoying how they have the arrow pointing at the text instead of the point of interest.
Now the trial is getting good 😏
**trial.
Crazy how much we are tracked now. Nowhere to hide
Yes but how did Brian Laundrie get away and his car was not tracked when the entire FBI, LE, the entire nation, Media, RUclipsrs, etc everyone was watching like hawks?
@@brettcantrell8650 Did he have ONSTAR on his car. Also, I thought he left without phone.
Murdaughrer has never looked so interested. Smug s.o.b.
He is only interested when he knows that things don’t necessarily prove anything and can be debated/argued. However, when the truth comes out and has to do with the actual killings (that he did) he starts rocking back and forth.
Pure evil
I watched that he 3-part Netflix series last night. Too many dead bodies in this guy's wake. He's obviously guilty and in his arrogant mind he believed he'd get away with this monstrous crimes.
Uhm Netflix serie? What is the name of it? I wanna watch!
People were always afraid to question that family.
One at a time.
@@donnaalexander1670 thx
@@donnaalexander1670 what is it called? The name , sorry my english is not the best
This is one of the most damning evidence for Alex. He literally drove to the spot of where her phone was. Stopped. Then drove away.
He killed them. End of story.
Nope. Did you not pay attention? He did not stop. He sped up somewhat when he was past that point but he was driving >40 MPH at the location where the phone was found. Did not stop or even slow down. Just sped up after. That proves he killed them? God help us all.
Alex didn’t stop, he slowed down to throw Maggie’s phone out.
I know Buster wants to stand by his Dad,but he has to have some doubt about his dad‘s innocence.
i think buster did it
@Brandon Lynch yeah, buster a realy pschopath ... i believe buster did it, alex unprepared but covering for him
@@BasicLeigh I did think that but not so much anymore…didn’t he get caught plagiarizing in college?
Le would have caught him too if he was involved. Entitled with a butt load of lazy…
I believe he is used to following his dads orders, and that dad knows best... and I'm sure he wants to believe he is innocent.
Right now he would feel the world is attacking him and his family so he'd want to go there to support his dad.
I definetly think there's some tiny doubt in his mind and once alex is convicted it may take years but Buster will be able to properly put the pieces together in his head.
It's hard when it's family to see the facts sometimes.
This is all just my opinion obviously.
@@lowcountrytiger I hope Busters girlfriend is getting some good advice from her family....the apple doesn't fall far from the proverbial 🌳
What a multi Tasker. He can fidget, confer with his legal team and crap his pants all at once. As others have said, this is as damning as any evidence we've heard so far. Actually condemning hopefully.
Sounds like everyone is sick in this courtroom
Amazing information!
Guilty!
With all the GPS data from that date forward, aren't they able to retrace the vehicle's movement to determine where he could've/would've put the guns? Is it not that simple? Or...did someone else conceal the guns after Alameda?
The guns were taken to alameda in a blue raincoat. Removed later obviously but there was gunpowder residue inside that raincoat at 42 places
And his blue shirt brown shoes and khakis worn in the tik tok from just before might have been stashed on mother's proprty too....when he parked off the lot in the bushes on the grass...
Best evidence tying it ALL together!
A couple things:
1. Someone remind me- did Alex's mother's care provider testify to what he was wearing that night when he arrived?
2. How does the earlier testimony/data about Maggie's cell phone steps and screen orienting line up with THIS timeline?
Wow....Alex never knew his night was tracked to the second. And he said he was not there!
I don't understand why he had Maggie's phone with him?? And to throw it away. Doesn't he know phones can be found through cell ping thing?
Probably trying to delete videos and other things off her phone while he drove killing two birds with one stone. He knew Maggie'a password. He took Paul's phone according to him to do something with it. I think he left it because he didn't know Paul's password
I want to thank this excellent witness as not only is he coming across as a genuine person who knows what's he's talking about but he calls out the ridiculous question about if Alex May have passed car? We need witnesses like him with proof Alex was there. Sorry Alex Maggi and Pail are going to get justice
surprised they didn't compare the other days he went in that direction - around where the phone was thrown
Maggie and Paul were closing in on him and they had to go so sad 😢
