  • Mushell "Shelly" Smith, who works as a caregiver where Alex Murdaugh's mother lives, said Murdaugh made an unusual visit to the house on the night of the killings. She said it was unusual to see him at night. Days later, she said he tried to tell her that he'd stayed longer during the visit than she remembered.

I'm a black 62 year old woman.I been a hospice/dementia elder care giver in 90% white clients homes and in facilities. For over 30 years for some very rich people.I kept a personal journal. I wrote down date and time of every phone call visit meal diaper change when client was woke sleep their mood showeror bed bath. I watched all vistors like a hawk. I over heard some of the most inappropriate cell phone conversation business and personal.I never repeated one conversation. I respected all my clients privacy. If any of their family members had showed up at a unexpected hour.I would had wrote time before I open the door would had sent a family to let them know. I wasn't in the house alone .I would had wrote down what they had brought in the house and exactly what time they left.Alex was trying to bully his mothers care giver bullying her into saying .He was at has parents house for 30 or 40 minutes not 20 minutes. Trying to be fincicially manipulating by telling her he could help her pay for her wedding telling her he had connections at her job at the school to get her a higher position. Evil rich people can offer to do good self serving things to help people who work for them especially if they need a alibi for a double murder. It was very painful for this woman to talk about Alex visit that night she had so much respect for him and his family. As care givers we just want to go to work do our job mind our own business not be part of no damn family members murder investigation. This man hired someone to kill him.How the hell do she know if wouldn't try to kill her since she can prove he lying about his alibi of amount of time spent at his parents house.

First time I ever had to testify was when I was kidnapped at gunpoint and raped, held hostage. The defense attorney came at me like I was scum of the earth, screaming I wanted it, I asked for it, criticizing what I had been wearing as provocative (blue jeans and a black t-shirt). Another time I witnessed a lady tried to kill an old man by running him down with a truck. They were so nasty, trying to make it seem like I was lying couldn't have possibly seen what I saw, etc. I literally HATE courtrooms now. It's very traumatic to testify.

It's grossly unfair of you to blame the Prosecution or Defense for her unintelligible answers and constant contradiction of her own answers and statements !!!! A woman of her age should be able to follow the Judge's instruction to speak up, speak clearly, and use YES / NO as answers.
To continue in court to call a " tarp" (short for tarpaulin) a tart is inexcusable !! People need to stop with the emotion and deal with the facts of the case. Just cos she's uneducated and has to have 2 jobs , doesn't make her anything other than uneducated, which , in later years she could have rectified had she wanted to. Sounds like her brother did Okay for himself so no reason why she couldn't have followed suit. Stop with all the bleeding heart crap, many people hold down more than 1 job. And the overnight gig with the oldies was just diddle of a job, a matter of watching TV while the oldies slept, with the occasional clean up if a bed pan was missed, not highly demanding physically, or mentally !!!!

To say “a woman of her age” is insulting. It was also not the judge that said to speak up or use yes/no answers, it was a lawyer on the prosecution that incessantly made her repeat herself when she spoke very audibly. The South Carolina accent is very think and often leads to mispronunciation of words. South Carolina senators have much harsher accents than she does. She is not uneducated, she is a hardworking woman who cares not only for her four children and six grandchildren, but other elderly citizens who need care and constant monitoring. I think you lack 1) a heart 2) empathy 3) a soul and 4) an education. You’re a moron.

I realize they do a run down of possible questions the defense might bring up & what she may be asked by either side 🤔it’s when she says and basically is telling the jury when he “Alec” offered her help with the upcoming wedding during that conversation that night the “night of the murders”
😳 then precedes to have her recount him being there 45 minutes when it was a complete 🤥 to cover his tracks must of been very scary to degree of threatening ☝️ for sure is highly commendable on her part.

Agree. I think she was conflicted, & didn’t want to say too much initially bc she was either fearful of AM, her job, or just confused about what was going on & wanted to get her bro/cops’ opinion. This is a great example of not to ever lie - he was damned with Paul’s video alone, & she would be in prison too if she did what she knew he wanted.
This whole thing was such a mess, prosecutor consistently repeating inaccurate answers witnesses just gave him, standing in front of the camera, didn’t offer a tissue or help her down the stairs, disorganised, difficult to tell what point he was trying to make, reiterated things so much just going in circles, I couldn’t even tell whose side she was a witness of! The defence attorney was WAY better, he just had no chance in this. AM should have taken a plea bargain, it’s absolutely insane to think he could get off as not guilty on any of it, but he dragged everyone thru a trial for nothing, including his only surviving family member, his SON Buster. Didn’t care he lost his mom & bro, (& grandfather in the same week), let’s stick him on the stand too. Atrocious. The witness is a stellar member of the community, I’m appalled at how she was treated. The judge was the only one (being black himself) with any consideration that they speak differently (colloquially).

I feel like I am up around the clock with mom and dad and with work, 7 days week and I have to grab 2 hours naps whenever I can and I am to the point of exhaustion.
This magnificent woman gives of herself in so many ways and she still finds time to give more of herself. I got very emotional when she was sharing everything she did and how tenderly she spoke of caregiving for Alex's mom. I love my mom and dad very much and consider it an honor to care for them. What strikes me as to the most beautiful way she speaks of caregiving is she speaks with all the love and tenderness a caregiver would give to a most beloved family member ❤

And if she'd only ever gone upstairs 2 times in 3 years, was one of the times that morning to see the blue tarp layed out? Why then did she decide to go upstairs that day?? And what exactly did she relay to her brother on the phone about Alex suggesting he was there 30-40 mins and where is the in-house Alameda video since they had a camera and who controlled that camera!!?? 🤔 Did sled not investigate these things?

I feel so bad for her. The amount of collateral damage this has caused is immeasurable. This lady did not deserve to be caught up in this. She is just a sweet, hard working, caring woman who tried her best to do what was right for their ailing Mom. Dragging her into this with his actions is shameful!

You don't have to be God fearing ( what an awful expression by the way) to be a good person. People shouldn't be good because they are afraid of a god punishment! It should be conscience and morality!

@@marinafrancesoldman1819 And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’” (Proverbs 1:7)
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him! (Psalm 33:8)
Is your problem the mere mention of God? Because when raising a child ,some parents threaten to ground them or take away video games etc...and it's the FEAR of losing something the child likes that keeps them on the straight and narrow...and we are ALL God's children & in living by God's word, teaches us morality & what is right & wrong & how we should love & treat others...or it can simply be the fear of letting God down or striving to live a life of service to others the way that Jesus did...and living on this earth in a way that will hopefully get us to the kingdom of Heaven with our Lord and savior for eternity when our life on this earth is done....fear/ respect can go hand in hand often...So learn where morality is born from before talking down or insulting another person you don't know or never met ...that isn't being morally conciences🤷‍♀️ but regardless, I don't have to know you to tell you that I love you as my brother/sister in Christ, and will be praying for you ...Have a blessed day 😉🙏🙌
