- Marian Proctor, the sister of Maggie Murdaugh and sister-in-law to Alex Murdaugh, testified about what she saw before and after the killings. He said a few odd things about the deaths of his wife and son, she said, including that his top priority was to clear his son's name in a boating under the influence case from a 2019 fatal crash.

I hate how they keep calling it “the boat case” and not “the death of Mallory Beach.” It’s not about the wreck of the boat. It’s about the death of a 19 year old thanks to Paul’s mean-drunk recklessness and sense of entitlement.
I totally agree! Who cares about the damn BOAT!!! (except for use as evidence) They should call it what it is "The Murder of Mallory Beach"

Maggie had “not a lavish life, but a comfortable life.” 3 houses, over a thousand acres of property with ponds, fields, beach house, city house, grand parties, nanny for her sons, hired workers for property and animal maintenance, multiple F-150 platinums, loaded suburbans, BMWs, boats, side by sides, golf carts. Looking for another house in Hilton Head. I’d love to know what such people consider a lavish lifestyle. 6:27

Sadly. The elderly caregiver, a black woman testified while crying for over 2 hours and not one person offered her any tissue or a bottle of water. She sniffed and teared all over her face and no one cared. She took care of Alex's mother and was dedicated to that family. A sad reality.
You know what? You are so right. Even the tone of questioning was aggressive and accusatory. So terrible and such a stark contrast.
These people se black and brown people as not human. Wish is the other way around
The part of the country where back of the bus is still alive I guess and very sad she was treated like that! Great observation!
I noticed that too!! I just told my friend how I thought the lawyers were condescending to her ( the caregiver) Very rude of the attorneys

@@elwinamaya1889I disagree with what part? Is it the fact that one should be murdered because of Malory dying in the boat collision?
@@ZAN-THE-GOAT correct.
It's a family of murderers. Maggie killed the housekeeper so they could file claims from insurance, Paul killed the girl in the boat crash, Bustes killed à boy with a basé bât.
“It wasn’t a lavish life, it was a comfortable life”. What on earth? Maggie’s life appears to have been extremely lavish! Vacations, multiple houses, boats, guns, housekeepers… this family wanted for nothing.
Right? White privileged folks that have NO CLUE
I would describe it as quite lavish, too.
Right? She’s also out of touch with reality. But that’s how most rich people I met through through my profession have been, especially if they never experienced being poor or even middle class. They don’t think they’re rich enough and they need to accumulate more and get a higher quality of life, and they truly believe people who aren’t as wealthy aren’t trying hard enough or they are screwups. It’s astounding how perspectives differ so much and people are often never satisfied no matter how much they have.
I ALMODT DROPPED DEAD!!! i cannot believe it took so long to find this comment 💀😵💫
You have to remember. This Lady is very wealthy, she would call her sister comfortable compared to hers
Alex wasnt worried about finding a killer or killers, as he already knew there was not one, other than himself. He hid behind his grandfather's and father's legal reputations, and power in the community, and believed there would be no consequences for his behavior. He thought he had planned the perfect murders, to get his financial liabilities to disappear. He was manipulating people and events, to make it appear that someone else had done these evil and heinous acts. My heart goes out for the sister. Her emotional pain is palpable and genuine, as she relives the events. Murdaugh's 'tears' are nothing but props for acting. IMHO, he is a despicable murdering sociopath, and he DID think about doing this for a very long time.
Yes Susan… I agree 💯

@@rvingkeepitrolling8797 just trying to figure out the way this man is thinking
My uncle was shot three times in the back. When our family descended on the town, there was not a place we could go without being followed by either uncles or the police. The uncles would stand by our doors at night making sure we were all safe. The whole town was scared. The fear was so thick. To not know who took your loved ones life is indescribable. For him not to be scared..... is a big flashing neon sign imo.
I'm really sorry for your loss. No one should ever have to experience that on top of being grief-stricken.
Exactly. Or fear for his other son. All he spoke of was being innocent, never a peep of what an innocent person would say who's family was murdered, "it was just a little while ago, the killers can't be far, can you do something before the get farther away?" etc. etc. etc. Guilty people just don't know how unlike an innocent person they in fact sound.
Sorry for your loss
Your uncle some gang cartel guy?
@@zx208 Hahaha!! No. But he was being robbed of plants he had growing. He lived in a very small town that hadn't had a murder in 50 years. The way he had been killed had looked like an ambush and well planned out. It had unfortunately rained the morning he had been killed and it washed away the scent of whoever had done it. Later, the years to be exact we found out it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the killer had gone to great lengths to mask his scent. He walked for 2 miles through a creek and then another 2 through the woods.
Anyway, between the police and my uncles during the funeral and the weeks after..... there was always some armed around us. My point in telling the story... or some of it.... was that when someone is murdered the fear is so thick that you welcome the added security. And him not wanting to make sure his other son and really himself were safe is very suspicious.

I feel one of the most obvious and important issues in this case, and one that really no one talks about, is the fact that Alex really wanted Maggie to go with him to visit his parents that night and she never went. I think that this along with the kennel video proves guilt. Maggie didn’t want to go according to her sister but her sister encouraged her to go. It’s so obvious to me that Alex lured her over to Moselle to kill her. The only reason she was there was to go with Alex and somehow Alex just didn’t take her with him..??!! Probably because he killed her and his Son…
what do you mean? like he had other plans for her?
Right. Or he had someone waiting for her there.
Defense counsel tried to cover this (sloooooooowly) w/2 justifiers, asking her:
(1) If it was unusual for “Elick” to ask Maggie to join him at Moselle (bc he didn’t like being home alone), therefore, that request wasn’t uncommon; and
More importantly, (2) that, since her FIL *wasn’* in the hospital (he was home, unbeknownst to Maggie + her sister), there was no reason for her to go w/Alex, hence, he left her at the kennel w/ _PawPaw._ (bc she just loved those dawgs so much).
AS IF that’a a good enough reason. The only thing I wonder is what did Maggie think/do when she realized Alex was going to his parents’ house without her. Didn’t she hv an objection, if that’s theE reason she went to Moselle. I’d think so.
Maggie had said that she felt Alex was up to something... .definitely lured. She was seeking divorce...allegedly
He stares into space during some of the testimony
...is he seeing them die in front of him again and again...we can only hope that is his sentence until his final day.
The look on his face when she said "Alex didn't seem to be afraid". Says so much.
The most disturbing image to me,is when she is embracing Buster and the deadly look in the 3 Murdaughs face - It´s pictured and it´s very disturbing. I hope this woman is safe.

Same here ...very sweet and beautiful!!
They have a way of avoiding responsibility. The young woman who lost her life seems to be inconsequential in the 'boat case'
You can tell they the sisters are both very soft and wonderful people.
Of course Maggie did not deserve to be killed but from the Netflix documentary she was as ruthless as Alex in trying to protect Paul from being held accountable for killing Mallory Beach in the boat accident. Nor did she want that poor girl’s body to be found. No body; no crime.
Maggie also was involved in helping Paul cover up wrecking his pick-up while drunk with his girlfriend.
Maggie also promoted Paul’s underage drinking.
She did not deserve to be killed but she was not a “special” caring lady. She seems to have also felt entitled to protect her family at all costs and regular people were disposable.
THIS!!🎯💯
Exactly my train of thoughts.
Right & i’m sure she portrayed herself one way to outsiders, I mean she was Alex’s wife trust she picked up on how to do so. Secondly we all know Paul had an alter ego named Timmy & showed up when he was drunk. He was literally smacking & spitting on his girlfriend while recklessly driving the boat.He wouldn’t allow anyone else to drive & smiled at Anthony’s pain when he knew they may never find Mallory it’s sad. Maggie got in Mrs. Beach car to ask what if they never find her, how insensitive to say to a Mother who’s child is missing knowing her son was responsible. Smfh
I agree. She loved the name MURDAUGH.
Everything caught up with them. What a pathetic excuse for "Parents".
Just another phoney who loved the good life and all that money! They try to make them out to be so pure...bull crap!!!!
The son was a losing piece of crap who would have been a burden to society. Before his murder, he was well on his way.
Wow, her stating that Alec answered to her, who ever did this they probably thought about it for a very long time. That is NOT a normal reaction
Maggie was blessed to have such a loving sister. You could tell they were very close.
Not lavish? Money was never an issue for her. She owned 3 houses - multiple vehicles ( a Mercedes) and never worked a day in her life. She had house help --- leaving food on the stove and not cleaning up after herself -- but not a lavish lifestyle? WTH????
It is a different outlook on lifestyle ! The hours of work by the staff are appalling.
Didn’t have to balance a checkbook.
The sister is supposedly married to someone way way wealthier than Alex. To her it probably seems comfortable but not lavish.
Well
Perhaps this is what the sister considers normal or not lavish . Everything is based on personal perspective 😳😳😳
I noticed that too... Sadly she is VERY out of touch.
The Murdaugh family were bad people. Am I the only one who seen the documentary about Paul and his parents. Maggie treated the parents of the dead girl horrible. Paul’s behavior was outrageous the night of the boat accident. Alec stole money from handicap boys who lost there mother to a accident in his home. These people are monsters at best.
shay0324 - I didn't see the documentary. What did Maggie say about the death of Mallory?
Right! I feel nothing for

Did not see it, but will watch it!
It’s true. They are all horrible for many years go back from Alex father .
Money, power and privilege over others. History shows that when a narcissistic gets this they will f#ck themselves in the end after hurting many others first.
I hope Marian can get over the guilt she feels for encouraging Maggie to go home to Alex the night he murdered her and Paul. What a burden to carry. Alex has no clue the suffering he has put upon so many people. It's disgusting and horrifying that a person could be so self serving to go to the extremes that he did.. the stealing, the lies...to his friends, his clients to his own flesh and blood! Horrible. P.S. I think AM's attorneys did a terrible job, bullying witnesses, especially Senator Harpootlian. Hard to believe this guy is in the US Senate. Vote him out.

Slimmy pricxx
This judge has an immense amount of patience 😭
She said after the murders Alex wasn't concerned about finding the killers, he wasn't afraid. He was more concerned with the boat accident and getting Buster into law school. She found that odd and so do I. I think Mrs. Proctor suspects Alex is the murderer.
He wanted to deny Paul was the driver of their boat, which everyone knew he was, so that the lawsuit would go away. Zero sense of responsibility in this family. I can't believe they're trying to pin Mallory's death on one of the other kids. Despicable. Sounds like Maggie was right along with Alex denying that their precious son could ever have been responsible for the accident.
He wanted to clear Paul's name, so the blame and lawsuits would shift to someone else. Then, he could have whatever property, inheritance, and stashed money for himself.
I feel for Maggie's sister, because it's clear that she partially blames herself for encouraging Maggie to go to Moselle.
And it's obvious that she didn't know that Alex's dad was in the hospital, otherwise Maggie would've stayed in Edisto. Alex waited until she arrived to tell her, and I think she just made the best of it... not knowing what he really had planned.
She has to. "I know the person has been thinking about doing this a long time." Umm what? The poor lady she absolutely blames herself.

It’s so tragic that such sweet lady like Maggie’s sister could get so close to pure evil by her sister being married to a monster.
Her sister was married to a man she met and fell in love with who later and for YEARS struggled with opiate addiction. Which in turn affected the whole family and a ripple effect that no one understands except the close family who is dealing with it and the stigma surrounding. She was right also when she said Paul was misrepresented by the the media and the town scorned Maggie. Pretty pitiful if I ask me that most all of Paul’s GF and close friends lived off the fat of good times and the Murdaugh inner circles. Stigma still

Detail from the testimony of the paralegal that worked for Alex and was the first to notice (and report) red flags regarding how he handled settlement money. He had _bought a boat with a loan._ Interestingly _some of the stolen money_ that je he redirected to a bank account in the small bank was also _used to pay down that boat loan._
Might have been the boat that Paul steered while drunk and then he killed the girl in 2018. Apart from the drug habit that was the most financially devastating thing for AM. And devastating for the family because of the events it helped to trigger. When her parents hired a lawyer for a civil lawsuit he then tried to write over property to his wife so the parents of the girl could only sue him for less - and Maggie in May or June 2021 refused to hand over the property that legally belonged only to her - he could not use those assets (that he had tried to move out of reach for liability charges) to quickly come up with millions.
In May he knew it was only a matter of time before he would be busted, but if he could have come up with several millions he could have repaid the money, fulfilled all obligations toward clients and the lawfirm (he also withheld revenue from them) and maybe the lawfirm would have let him leave quiety w/o exposing him. No scandal, he would have to step down of course - and the clients would have gotten a surprise payment, but I am sure he could have sold them the lucky turn of events. He chose the clients he stole from well, no one had protested that they did not get enough or the believed the story that the lawsuit was not successful. So there was a chance no one would question or protest or suspect foul play when they unexpectedly would get 70k or 200k.
Stolen money paid for the boat that cost his family (and the girl) so dearly. On June 7th he murdered wife and son. He (as the owner of the boat, and it either had no insurance or the insurance would not pay because their son was drunk) had a court date for June 10th, on which the judge would rule whether he had to disclose all his assets. This had to do with the private lawsuit of the parents of the dead girl, and I think they sued for 30 million USD. I think they really thought he was filthy rich.
Alex had been busy since 2018 or 2019 to try and get as much as possible in Maggies name / written over to her - but that likely motivated him to kill her when the walls closed in on him in the lawfirm (January - May 2021). Shortly before the murder his wife had refused to allow him to sell property - that sale would have provide a few millions real quick. I think he realized that he could not continue to steal from the company, and that the crimes he had comitted so far would be detected soon.
The spouses had a discussion / fight not long before the murder over the beachfront property (4 million USD), I very much doubt he had told her WHY he so desperately needed money. But she refused to sell it.
She must of course have known about his drug use (for 20 years) - one more reason not to let him have more money - and she likely could not fathom how much he stole.
Only a few days before her death she had confronted him because a charity cheque that she had written had bounced. In August 2021 (so 3 months after the murders) he had 4 million debt with the small bank and his chequing account was overdrawn with almost 400,000 USD.
Maybe she should have gotten involved in the family's finances or should have added up ALL their spending and compared it to what came in (the legal money - she had no way of knowing that he stole and how much). Only - if she had bothered then she would have been surprised where the money for the boat or other loans of Alex came from (from the account that he had opened for stolen money).
AM had opened a private account the "fake Forge account" (that mimicked the account of a legit company & business partner of the lawfirm = Forge Consulting). AM would wait until the paralegal that normally handled the larger settlement cases and the "billing" was not in the house and then order her collegue to finalize the cases and to split the money that had come in. What the client would get, the fee for the lawfirm, all the costs they had paid in advance, and often liens had to be considered (hospital bills, Medicare that had to be reimbursed if a client got a settlement).
It was necessary to know such files well to not overlook anything, the ladies were protective of "their" cases - and from time to time a confused collegue would call her when she was not in the company, because she had been orderd by Alex to finish a file in a hurry, and she found the instructions of Alex unusual, could not understand some of the position (no wonder it was fraudulent) - Alex often ordered that shortly before 5 pm and preferably on a Friday when all the other staff and the other partners and financial department had left the company.
AM also instruced his staff to write the cheques not to Forge Consulting (a legit company that they used from time to time when they set up trust funds for settlements in form of recurring payments instead of one lump sum) but to "Forge" (in the lawfirm they called that "fake Forge" during their audit because it really was a private account that AM controlled. The name was chosen to dupe accounting deparment when they wrote the cheques.
And those cheques issued to fake "Forge" were not sent by mail (to the legit company), he always said he would meet their contact at that company for golf or lunch and would hand it over in person. Drove his staff crazy, AM had a reputation of being sloppy and disorganized, they feared he would lose the cheques. Larger amounts often more than 100,000 USD. Replacing such cheques is possible but it is a hassle.
Her testimony is so revealing. Alex was all up in these murders. I feel sorry for .Maggie’s sister. On the other hand I think it’s hilarious that she thinks Maggie didn’t lead a lavish life. Never worked a day in her life. Bought and sold properties on a whim. Rode a golf cart around her 1700 acre property. 98% of us would say that was lavish.
She was shopping for a new house after her son was drunk and killed a 19 year old girl. How could she do that. I think this whole family are awful people. Hunting and killing animals and selfish self centered. She told her housekeeper that she had to leave her doors open for the Mexicans. I am not impressed by any of them.
Yeah and she was also doing some work on their beach house!
And her comments that Paul was being treated unfairly…… he used Buster’s ID card, bought alcohol, recklessly drove the boat and was being charged with criminal negligent homicide (may have the name of the charge incorrect there) and he was going to trial a couple of days later on…..
It doesn’t mean she doesn’t grieve or miss her sister, however realistic description of the situation would have been more respectful for everyone else affected….
Looking for this comment. What would she consider lavish, I wonder. I guess jet-setting and yachting around the globe, vacations on the Riviera, etc.
Marian and her husband are obviously wealthy. They built a beautiful house and guest house on 27+ acres in 2019. Sold it in Oct 2021 for almost $6million. She's either a very gifted interior decorator or she hired one. You could tell it was a home that welcomed large gatherings of family friends.

What strikes me as odd is how many tragedies happened around this family:
A house fire
The death of Mrs Satterfield
The death of Stephen Smith
The death of Mallory Beach
The death of Maggie Murdaugh
The death of Paul Murdaugh
because people want to make you believe everything is linked and intentional which there is not a slightest proof of so drop the drama please , this woman need peace
My heart breaks for the girl who was killed in the boating accident. They didn’t think there would be an indictment. This family is getting way more consideration in trial than they will ever see. It was interesting when Maggie’s sister was going down the list of people Maggie loved: she left Alex off this list. 👀
It's shows just how much pull this family has in that county.
Seriously does anyone care about the girl in the boat the maid the mysterious death of an innocent child .friend of busters allegedly.
@@peggypasson8794 There were hundreds who turned up for the funeral. My heart really goes out to that family. Even the sister on the stand did not seem to be very moved by it, but instead gave much sympathy and good things to say about Paul, who was obviously out of control.
@@peggypasson8794 Even the teenagers involved in the boating accident knew that and made comments about it. Good thing the video cam pictured AM’s badge hanging out of his pocket. And, he admitted to flashing it to find favors.

The boys, Paul and Buster, were by many accounts two very spoiled and entitled boys. As well, Buster was tossed from law school after he was caught cheating. Paul immediately blamed someone else in the boat as the driver which was not the case. The video of Paul and his behavior when the police arrived ( night of the boat crash) is truly disgusting and quite telling as to his character. Also Maggie certainly doesn't sound like a compassionate soul in the 911 call regarding their housekeeper after her fall on their property which ended in her death. You can listen for yourself at Murdaugh Murders Podcast.
These are hunters. They enjoy hunting and killing
innocent animals for pleasure. How much compassion we expect these people to have? Who cry for the animals?
@@nicoles8176 Well some hunters do eat the meat. We can assume they did eat venison and pork, maybe from wild boars. Venison is tasty. If you eat meat, you are killing the animals. So, you're insulting a lot of people w/this comment.
Paul's Uncle John and Grandfather Randolph also went into hospital emerg rooms looking for the other kids to try and persuade them to say Paul wasn't driving the boat. Which is pretty damn ballsy. Who else would take the charges possible lawsuit when they weren't driving.🤦♀️🤦♂️
@@nicoles8176 EXACTLY. Paul just loved to kill any living thing. The poor wildlife. The men in that family really do seem to love killing things. What kind of brain does it take to sport kill? A Murdaugh and their friends kind of brain.
No compassion for her housekeeper on the 911 call - very matter of fact and almost sounded annoyed that it interrupted her day.
My heart breaks for Maggie’s family , & the Mallory Beach family. There’s so much loss , & so many victims , so many crimes . This isn’t the end of the story it’s only just begun.
The housekeeper as well
Yes it's just begun👌
And let’s not forget about what happened to the dogs 😡
Edit: as of 3/10/23 no one knows what happened to those sweet dogs. I’m hoping a dog lover, or several adopted the dogs. There were 5 dogs.
@@alvaroq2024people always seem to forget about the pets...I'm happy to see someone else who cares
@@chriskatherman1488 no, people certainly don't forget about the pets. People are actually deranged and love their pets way more than they should, in a way that is just desperate and unsettling...example: some people calling themselves "dog mom's" as if their dogs are on the same level as their own human children that they gave birth to! It is absolutely sick, demented, and very psychologically destructive to a child to have their parent drag them down and put them on the same level as a dog... it is really sick.
People are obviously not going to mention the pets in a lot of these cases because I think it goes without saying that having a person pass away far supersedes the importance of a pet passing away. You can get another cat/dog or whatever and probably love them exactly the same as you loved the other one that you had, they can be replaced. But when its a human being that you love, it is far more heartbreaking because people are absolutely and totally Irreplaceable.
So to show some respect, a lot of people mention only the human beings that passed away, because that is the real loss being mourned here and that is why there is a trial in court to begin with, for. the people, not the animals.

The moral of this story: don’t trust a man that doesn’t even know how to pronounce his own first name
Not a lavish life style?!?
They had two properties, the Moselle property contained a main house, a "cabin", a hangar for air crafts, several other buildings and a lot land. Than they had a house at the beach. All for of them each owned a car.
Maggie didn't work, but still they had a house keeper. It is also said, that Maggie owned a diamond bracelet.
I think for Mrs Proctor the above is not lavish, but for common people, it definitely is.
If Paul was driving that boat he was drunk and killed Mallory. And just as if he were driving a car he should have been prosecuted for homicide. The terrible murder of himself and his mother ended that charge.
Actually you are wrong on this - Alec owned the boat so the case would have continued.
He was driving that boat.
this!! its crazy what that kid got away with.
He was charged criminally and going to trial 3 days later. He could have gotten 20 years in prison. He would have ruined the family name. Irony is that Alex is the one ruining it!!!"

Hearing testimony in cases like this makes me thankful for my simple blue collar life.

Maggie's sister said that Maggie had a comfortable life but not a lavish life ??Really? Trips around the world? Servants? Lived in a mansion on a 1700 acre sprawling ranch, and never hurt for financially. Really? Not lavish?
The boat crash was was caused by underage drinking. When someone drives drunk and crashes, it is not an accident.
Correct
Worse than an accident. Borrows his older brother's ID to buy beer. Then gets drunk and then speeds the boat into a bridge at night with passengers. While the passengers are telling him to slow down. Accident?? And it happened at night. Stupid crazy.
Always considered it a crash & no accident with all the planning behind it: illegal ID, illegal alcohol purchase, providing alcohol to minors involved in a fatality, etc.
It's no wonder that Paul received jeers in town over the drunk boat driving. Why was this? Was he remorseful?

Drug addiction is the answer to your question.
What a nice lady and how awful for her to be in the position of having to testify about her murdered sister and nephew. Honestly she seems so kind and gentle and truthful.
The most unorganized lawyers I've ever seen or heard. They cannot follow a sequential timeline or remember from one moment to the next. The defence questioning of her sister is useless repetition of what has already been said by direct questioning.
Finally, they have come to realize they have a court reporter.
Oh my gosh.

This judge is excellent in controlling his courtroom, and in making decisions on points they bring up. The lawyers bring up objections, citing what they feel is in violation.....the judge just calming picks each piece of the topic apart, and explains his basis for his decisions. Most court cases I've watched contains objections repeated approaches to the bench and no one gets to hear what is being discussed. This judge handles things so differently, and it really helps to understand what is happening at each moment. Maggie's sister is a great witness as well....she is an expert on knowing her sister and her sister's character. She was close to the entire family and her testimony about the subtle changes she noticed are coming across as credible and honest assessment. She is spot on.....Alex should have been focused on finding who did this, as it meant he and Buster were in the crosshairs as well. Yet, he was concerned about clearing Paul's name, which has nothing to do with the supposed brutal murder of his son and his wife. Concern with getting Buster back into law school?! Another non-issue which should have been the last thing on his mind. If Maggie and Paul had been gunned down by an unknown assailant, his focus in life would have been to find the killer and to keep himself and his surviving son and family safe until they found who did it. Yet, he was thinking about things that should not have been on his "to-do" list, at that point.
yes. he is making sure that he leaves no place for any " appeal" by answering the issues right away without delay!
I've been to South Carolina my family is from there. Everyone moves and talks at a slow pace. Which drives the Northerners crazy.
Exactly, plus you'd think Alex would also be focused on finding the murderer in case his other son was in danger. That is what any normal parent would be worried about.

Why would Alex not automatically assume someone was after him as well? Is it perhaps because he was confident there wasn't a threat out there? Why wasn't catching the killer his main and only priority? Perhaps bc that trail would lead investigators right to his doorstep? The sister in law KNOWS, she's knows and its breaking her heart. My heart goes out to her.
100% spot on!
Yes I agree I think the sister knows he did it
Alec left Moselle that night after Buster and his friends packed up his things. I think Alec did it. Or hired someone to do it more likely to me. But just for keeping facts straight, Alec did go and stay in different places after the murders.
Devils advocate: He had lost everything at that point including his will to live. He didn't care about his life at that point.
He felt he was honoring his son, in memorial by clearing his name.
I can see that.....
@@atonement7232 The wife had no life insurance and he noted that on many documents. She had 57.00 in her bank account.

What a spit in the face to Mallory and her family and friends calling Paul a "very sweet boy" and saying he was "misrepresented in the media" because that was most definitely what she was referring too, so tell that to the parents of the girl he murdered or the long term girlfriend he would psychically abuse, or any of the other people who had the misfortune of simply being disliked by Paul, God this whole family is just rotten to the core in one way or another, nephew or not, dead or alive, don't act like he was this perfect angel of a boy because he was not.
Paul had a dual personality. She obviously loved Paul & Maggie.

Everyone deals with death differently but to see it and for it to also be a brutal crime must be horrifying. I’m imagining it’s being put in a mental box to control the pain. The sister-in-law doesn’t say anything in her testimony that is beyond a reasonable doubt in a way that could directly lead to Alex’s conviction, but I find her testimony very powerful. She and her parents were so close to Alex, but she certainly has some suspicions now. It must be awful thinking that he might have been the one responsible for her sister and nephew’s deaths.
And how about when she realizes Alex may be the unhinged murderer AND that he had stayed with her parents for a while!?
I think she knows now that Alex is guilty.
@The Nation State the continued point of the timing and the fact Alec was identified to the testimony offered by those friends of Paul, for example, is not lost on me,but nor is the evidence we are yet to hear. I hope that in the huge undertaking that the jurors have, is not lost on them, and they do not find premature answers in the presumptions made so early in the case.
It may be revealed that the voice , may indeed be Alex, however any sensible person surely cannot differentiate between a voice that was there in person, at a time Alex has testified to numerous times, that he was said to be elsewhere, and the voice being heard and identified as ALEX but from a message or videoplayback that could give reasons to the point of the voice being heard but not in the presence or company of mr Alex murdaugh if he sticks by the times he has attested to , in that point, it would be reasonable to hear and THink Alex was indeed at the kennels , but the evidence may yet show that could not be the case. Now of course, this is merely a suggestion,
