The stealing his clients money especially the lady that worked for him and him telling her children he’d try to get them $1000,00 each then got over a million and kept most of of it is disgusting. He stole from many clients. Millions! The person who works for his firm testified yesterday about all the stolen money they’ve had to return to clients. She was not impressed with his crimes and you could see how much she despised his actions.

I’m still stuck on the fact that he told police that he “stayed in the house” and yet the video shows him at the kennel. The thefts, lies and forensics spell out what he was there to do.

that blue raincoat or jacket was found balled up in his mothers closet. and her assistant said he never came by that late because she would be asleep. trying to setup an alibi.
all for the love of money.....or just to see if he could pull off the perfect murder......

This lady and those like her are the unsung heroes in law enforcement that we all take for granted every day. She knows her job really really well we can all tell. She completely have my confidence and probably the jurors’ too that we can rely on her findings completely.
Just watching this for the first time and agree wholeheartedly. She is excellent at her job and will be a very useful witness in this case.
These pandering comments are always puzzling. How do WE take them for granted, exactly? Are they normally shunned?
Perhaps it's not "we all take for granted" so much as it's they're paid to do their (chosen) job responsibly like the rest of us.
*We're* thankful for it but (unless extraordinary effort and sacrifice is involved) no ticker-tape parade need apply.
@@mulemule Not pandering. Cops with guns screw up a lot and so criminals got away with murders too many times, especially when they have dream team defending them. Technicians with fair minds and vast knowledge like her can seal the deal for the prosecutor. Plus, in the case when someone innocent is being suspected, she can also help to clear him or her and therefore help defend our justice system. But their works are never publicized every day or every week! That’s why I said we took them for granted

The Arias case stayed in my mind more so because of the crime scene pics and the victims piercing eyes in the end. But what this guy did to his family is incomprehensible for sure.
I love Megan Fletcher’s explanation of gun residue and collections.
I listened to Buster when he was questioned about the guns. He stated that he couldn't think of a reason to load the shotgun with one buckshot and one birdshot round. Well, I can! Let's say you have 1700 acres to hunt on and you may find yourself shooting deer or doves on any given trip. This assumes the shotgun is a side-by-side break action. Load one of each and you've got 'em covered. You can fire either one first.
As for the 300 blackout. Most states limit a hunter to three rounds in the gun at any given time. For a semi automatic long gun, this usually means one in the chamber and two in the magazine. Most detachable magazines come in 5, 10, or 15 round sizes. There's no sense in going hunting with anything bigger than a 5 rd mag. That's how Paul got shot twice with the shotgun, and Dear Wife got shot 5 times with the AR style rifle in 300 blackout.

The defense is making fools of themselves. Every word from their mouths is in your face attempts to discredit every witness. The jury sees this also and eye rolls I'm sure.

I thought that wasn't allowed? In the one day,his attorney was falling asleep. I think he's going to be found guilty. Give these witnesses a desk to place their reports on. Also, give them a more comfortable chair. This is ridiculous. Raise the desk to cover private parts, called a modesty panel. This is 2023. It would cost very little.

He has to make the point so that it's clear she did not contaminate the evidence nothing is assumed it must be spelled out.

When the expert is describing how particles are spread, it beholds the lawyer to clarify that those examining the garments took strict precautions not to contaminate them by wearing gloves & white coat otherwise it could be argued by defense that contamination could negate the validity of the evidence.
The dude had the nerve to get narcissistic on the court at one point. He literally tried to convince the court he's innocent. He's guilty and it doesn't matter what he says he can't change the truth. The science speaks volumes. This witnesses is amazing and very smart. She should be very proud of herself and her team. They did a great job. I do believe this is what brought the bars down onto the case. He's been caught red handed, he's guilty. It's like Winnie the Pooh getting his hand stuck in the honey jar and claiming he didn't touch the honey jar.

The evidence where u hear the defendants voice on the video and other things that were said and done make’s definitely believe beyond a reasonable doubt that this guy killed his wife and kid. No money in any amount or trouble I was in would make kill anyone much less my child! I pray justice is served. I also thought the house sitter was talking about it that night visit not when he came the morning hours. I think he also left the guns and blue shirt/pants there and disposed of them at the morning visit.

Wife wanted a divorce, which would have lead to scrutiny of their finances. Son was being sued for Mallory's death, along with the family (their boat, their dock, brother's fake ID bought the alcohol), which would have lead to extreme scrutiny of their finances. The accounting of the family's assets was due days after their murders.

It extra stupid because in this same testimony he makes her explain why you need to wear gloves. He put on the gd gloves. Then to not wear gloves minutes later is just dumb as hell. Makes him look incompetent. There’s no reanalyzing any of this evidence . Which is seriously dumb because really you don’t know what technology holds in the future. What it sounds like to me in plain english. He fired a firearm with the raincoat on inside out. He (Alex) then washed his hands and changed cloths but the was so much residue it transfered back on to his clean cloths and clean hands. Not good for defendant.

That is interesting because in the video where he was sitting in the passenger seat with the officers or detectives asking questions, he had his right hand between his legs close to his groin. So finding residue in that area could be from his hand or coming off when he changed clothes. In my opinion that should be very questionable.
Good one! But he had already gone home, changed, washed his clothes, visited his mother then come back there in freshly laundered clothes. He should have bought laundry detergent with no smell. 😂

Always fascinates me how guys like Murdaugh and O.J.Simpson maintained their 'innocence' right to the bitter end despite all the evidence against them.
On the 911 call, the dispatcher told Murdaugh to put the gun he retrieved from the house INSIDE his vehicle before the police arrived. Instead, he just leaned it against the outside of his vehicle & told the arriving police that so that they would see that he had touched a gun, so that would explain gun shot residue on his hands/clothes. So doubt would be created whether he just had GSR from transference...not from actual shooting.

That 12 gauge shot gun was not excluded to be the murder weapon the expert said.The other one the assault rifle was missing.
I feel like the fact he summoned only Maggie and Paul to be at that property that night is very telling. Then Maggie didn't go to his mom's house with him. That was the reason he wanted her there, supposedly.
I believe if he ever left to go see his mom, he killed them before doing so. I would not even doubt that he somehow had something to do with his dad's death too-for the money! Such a conniving killer for money!

@@deborah8887 Paul was not his favorite son. Paul was a trouble maker. Paul has repeatetly tarnished the Murdough name. Paul was a drunk, that caused the boat crash that killed Malory Beach. Paul was being sued for wrongful death for $10 million ( probably bankrupt the family). Also that investigation would lead investigators finding out that Alex was swindiling money. So killing Paul was the best option to stop lawsuit and an investigation towards Alex.

Superb witness. A true steel wall, sticking to the science and reiterated many times there were only two ways in which a GSR particule would be present on the evidence. The prosecution tried hard too. Excellent analyst.

Sincerely hope that the jurors take on all the facts. And also the constant changes in Alex’s stories how everything took place. Pray the jurors don’t give “ a OJ verdict “ where all the jurors were fans of his and felt sorry if they sent him to jail.
You know in the OJ case, everyone knew he was guilty, even the Jury. They gave him a pass as payback for White racism history. Ironically, that was Black racism. Anyway, he's so messed up that he convicted himself again. I was in LA when that crime and trial happened. We ALL knew he was 100% guilty.

There was reasonable doubt in the OJ trial. If course I think OJ was guilty but the investigation had too many errors, and left some doubt. Jurors had no choice.
This case may have been bungled by the initial failure properly to secure the crime scene were it not for the phone video.
@@cz2165 There were too many Black folks on the OJ trial. I polled Black females in my workplace after the verdict. I asked if they would support the woman (white) vs OJ (black). They unanimously supported OJ. What is sad is that domestic abuse of women is very embedded in every culture globally, and gender discrimination is very deep, but they supported the more visible
Black cause even though he was guilty, they knew it, and did not care. They were fixing the historical unfairness in this trial. I understood that was more important to jurors. The other dynamic was that Black women resent White women taking away their males and making the remaining pool of men smaller to choose from. They got their revenge here by making the White woman pay. These were the two forces that freed OJ even though everyone knew he was 100% guilty.
I might see someone shooting Paul as a payback, but not Mrs. Murdaugh. Just don't see it.

If someone was going to kill Alex wife and son wouldn’t they want to kill the whole family, and go up to the house to find AM too? Why would it just be Maggie & Paul? And there is no way a murderer would wash down the kennels before leaving a crime scene!
Good grief I didn’t realize about the residue on his clothes or on the “jacket tarp”. Or the shells had characteristics if other shells on the hunting grounds which came from family guns.
He thought this out, except, he didn’t realize there was a video with his voice, the caregiver saw him at his mothers house at 6:30 am which he never did and she saw him carry a blue tarp like thing, rushing up the stairs and leaving it, or the gps and phone can track him and time especially the time of his 911 call.
Residue on him and the guns should have been enough, then add one of the family guns was missing. If the care giver had not seen him with the blue “tarp jacket” they wouldn’t have looked for the blue thing and find gun residue. Also if he touched the bodies, there was so

He’d never tell the truth until he got caught. He would have kept stealing if he hadn’t been caught. He’d never confess the lie about not being there unless there was that video. He wouldn’t have changed his timing if calling 911 except when it was proven he made the call

The tee shirt white that Alex had after calling 911 smelled laundry detergent. A part of me feels bad for Buster but a part of me thinks he was involved in killing Stephen Smith so when I think about that poor kid being beaten to death and left in the middle of the road like trash I don't feel bad for him anymore. I think Buster was in a homosexual relationship with Stephen and was scared he was going to expose him and that's why he killed him.

Yes... the day before he had a family and the next day he lost his brother and Mom... then his Grandpa passed away a couple of days later. His Grandma has Alzheimers and now his Dad will for sure go to jail even if only for stealing millions of dollars. You never know because the jury has to find him guilty beyond a doubt. Must be the new GSR guidelines. In my career the kit tested for Barium, Antimony and Lead. Oddly, studies showed that people who had not fired a gun would have primer compounds on their hand, while those who had fired would not. We eventually stopped GSR testing since the presence or absence of residue proved nothing.

Disagree , I think they're doing an excellent job . It's just this prosecutor Meadors is all over the place , doesn't seem to be in control and his questioning of witnesses is poor .
The other prosecutor Waters is excellent and totally in control .

He seemed a little aggressive at times here. Literally grabbing her arm unexpectedly at one point.
She had to repeat her answer the same questions more than once because he wasn't listening to her answers.
Asking her why she put gloves on in the courtroom when handling evidence. Then he proceeded to touch all the evidence out of the boxes himself bare-handed instead of letting just her handle the evidence while she had her gloves on.
And with more comfortable chairs! I can’t imagine seating for hours in that hard wood chair.

If she hadn’t seen him, they would not have known to look for that jacket and find gun residue. If he wasn’t guilty why did he go to his parents house at 6;30 am with a blue tarp poncho and hide it in an upstairs closet which had gun residue. Right there is guilt

He had 1 particle of gsr on his hand, but he went and got a gun when he found them,,, which would explain where the particle came from. I would expect more the one if he had fired multiple shots
No one has explained how he could possibly in that little time been able to kill two people with up close shots and been able to clean every spec of dna and gun residue off his body. The care taker confirmed he did visit, and he didn’t shower there and it would take a whole lot of scrubbing to get all that off. A 15 min drive to visit his mom, 5 minutes outside moms house, 20 minutes inside laying on moms bed, 15 minute drive back. That eats up the entire hour that he would have had to clean up all dna and gun residue. It literally makes no sense.

Add to that additional time: supposedly to drive in the opposite direction to his parents' house and throw out or stop and throw away Maggie's cell phone; time to drive to the house to get a gun after finding the bodies, time to dispose of the guns and clothing. All supposition. But the timing doesn't make sense, as you state. It would also have taken quite some time to shower and scrub to get off all the forensic material, especially blood. Also to clean the bathroom/shower after showering, to not leave evidence. All this at night and much in the dark, too.

Easy I'd imagine. Just be wearing something that you can take off after you've shot revealing clean clothes in underneath then discard that somehow. Doesn't have to even be proper clothing you use to cover yourself. Something quick and easy to remove. Can just be a sheet with a hole to stick your head through. I can imagine a few other ways to have no residue or blood on your clothing
How can anyone know what time of the day he shot those two people? He might have killed them earlier in the day and then went about doing all these things he did as you described. He was probably totally cleaned up and scrubbed by the time he reached out his mother’s house. This man is a mentally ill monster.

I get that the gsr " could" arguably be from their other gun usages in the past but when the caregiver said he brought a blue thing like a tarp into his parents home.. well that coat wadded up looks like a blue tarp ( I have one myself, bigger but same color of blue) but also as it was being handled it sounded like tarp material. ( not cloth)
I would think carrying that into his parents, that color and especially with it making that sound, I can easily see why the caregiver thought it was a tarp like thing. I would have too based on my own. They should recall the witness, fold it up and carry it around making the sounds and ask her if this is like what she recalled that day. If so, then the obvious answer would be "why would he bring it to his parents house?" And they should ask him. I actually think they brought up him taking a tarp and he said he had no idea of what they were talking about ( a "tarp", so his answer was honest technically) I know innocent till proven guilty but he has lied, back tracked his story so it seems like he is guilty in some way. He had drugs on him that night he admitted and said ( i think he said) at one point the drugs mess with his thinking or something to that effect. Could he have done this in a hysterical confused out of control, out of his head moment...seems logical maybe. If so I would think he would be remorseful after the fact realizing what happened and what he had done, but is he going to admit that he killed them and use that as an excuse ( a temporary moment of insanity type argument?)
I have no idea. Maybe he is innocent, but things about his story definitely don't fit together. On another note ( long post, sorry) how could he have kept his emotions so somewhat under control that night? When the police arrived I would been an incoherant puddle on the ground, I don't think I would have been able to put two sentences together on the 911 call, I would have been screaming and probably hyperventilating as well. When they arrived, they would have found me there cradling my loved one to my heart screaming uncontrollably. Talk about crime scene contamination! I would have been covered in their blood and sitting in it!!
He " seemed" distraught and upset, but certainly not the out of control mess I would have been. I can't even fathom the depth of a parents grief finding their loved one, especially their child, like that. And in the courtroom listening to them describe the graphic details of their wounds as an parent I would have needed a bucket at my feet because i would have been vommiting. As well as ten boxes of tissues in front of me. Actually, I would have needed to be sedated. I couldn't have listened to all that horror done to my child and spouse.
During the trial, he said the victims were *hurt* instead of murdered. Telling as his first shot(s) disabled to keep them from getting away and the last shot was the kill shot for both victims.
