Hey, Nick. To your point about preachers needing to present a message every week, expositional teaching helps alleviate some pressure on preachers. My church literally goes through an entire book for weeks. Whatever topics come up in the text is what we study. I’ve learned so much this way, and pastors can simply just teach the text and not try to come up with entertaining topics each week. The Gospel is enough.
Here are tips from a discipleship class called “WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A CHURCH?” I hope this helps people find a church home that honors God. 1. EXPOSITIONAL PREACHING Does the pastor preach God’s Word, or his own ideas? Does he allow Scripture to set his preaching agenda, or does he pick topics by some other criteria? (2 Tim. 2:15, 4:2-2) 2. BIBLICAL THEOLOGY Does the church openly confess key biblical doctrines? Do the leaders consistently teach sound doctrine? (Tit. 1:9-11) 3. PRIESTHOOD OF ALL BELIEVERS Does the church encourage and equip each member to use their gifts for the edification of the body? 4. CHRIST-CENTERED PRAISE Does the church sing songs that make much of Jesus rather than us? Does the service make us decrease and Christ increase? 5. MEMBER CARE Does the church take membership seriously by seeking to ensure that its members faithfully attend? Does it encourage members to fulfill the biblical “one-anothers” with each other? Does it call members to repentance? (Heb. 10:24-25; Eph. 4:11-29, Matt. 18:15-17; 1 Cor. 5:1-13) 6. DISCIPLEMAKERS Does the church take seriously the call to evangelize and then to walk alongside new converts in order to build spiritual maturity in them?

@DioniWise87 @MsKris2626 I am praying for a church home that teaches like this; I haven't found any local place yet; it's very frustrating. I've found a few online services, but I want a local fellowship without all the bells, whistles, and presentation-style sermons!
And thinking he was Jesus… meaning, thinkin he should have been at the right hand of God, rather than Jesus. Her ego is already creepin. Waving her jewelry, and her art with all the jewelry - all a little worldly. I mean it’s crazy, talking everything she’s talking with that picture - I just can’t
I had a dilemma a few months ago with contemplating leaving my church of 10 years to go to another church that I didn’t find “exciting” but really taught the word of God. I realized I was in a church that catered a lot to our emotions and always hype messages and blessed messages, and give and give and give, but there wasn’t a whole lot of deep rooted Word teaching. They would take a verse or set of verses and then preach how they wanted to in order to appease the congregation. I struggled with choosing to leave but now I’m convinced it was God moving me to where I really needed to be. Don’t always follow the hype.
Paul and Barnabas were mistaken for Zeus & Hermes and they took offense to it. I would imagine that the celebrity pastors these days would embrace those comparisons.
A lot will literally compare themselves to Christ. I went to a church and a pastor used the story of Martha and Mary at the feet of Jesus and said he needs more Martha’s to be serving HIM. Which is a major butchering of the text
Thanks Brother Nick. 🙏🏾✝️ The book: David Giles, Illusions of Immortality. I listen to Jackie, she’s an exceptional teacher and biblically brilliant. God cover them in protection.
She is right. I love the dialog here. So much was said and so much truth. It seems some make Pastors a deity and they fall under the spell. God is the only one we should be worshipping and putting our trust and hope in. We have to be careful with this.
Follow Jesus Christ not any man or woman . If a Pastor is teaching the Word of God instead of his feel good story word with money especially as the subject go to that Church but if one isn't around you don't go !!!
We left once our pastor retired because the new guy was pushing jabs and said “we need a black woman in the White House”. No. We need qualified people in the White House. Race doesn’t matter. We need people with morals in the White House. He was culture over kingdom so God told us to leave. That was at the height of the pandemic when church went to online and Bible study was via zoom. God hasn’t told us a church to go to yet because all the churches around here were allowing the govt to dictate what they do. All closed. Then all were masked and social distancing during the lockdowns. And the Holy Spirit isn’t showing up at any churches I have visited. No moves of God. No miracles. Nada. Just tradition….Sing this many songs. Read some scripture. Read some announcements. Preach for 45 minutes tops. Done by a certain time…Week after week.
I agree with everything you said about pastors being diligent to teach the word. I am in a small church, but I thank God for my Pastor, Brian Webber, who is committed to expository teaching, and helping the congregation to grow in their faith.
You are correct, we are living in the 2 Tim. 4 time period…..and they don’t want to study the word themselves. It’s not easy to find a true bible teaching church either. The city I live in is small however there are at least 15-20 but I have to read for myself and yes, I supplement the services at my church with various bible teaching churches online.
Bro I needed to hear this today! I’ve stray away from the word and into sin but I’m seeking the Lord for help and deliverance! Pray for me bros and sister.
Not only are we living in the time of where people do not hear sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3) but is also a time where there is a famine for hearing the word of God (Amos 8:11).
I’m so thankful for my local church. It’s soooooo important to ask the Lord for a sound doctrine church! There’s red flags 🚩 those are things the Lord places to guide you! There are people He will send to lead you to a church you’re meant to be at. Flashy, showy feel good messages are not what we need to grow spiritually. Simple, basics, biblically based teachings is where we grow. Convictions are necessary for spiritual growth!
The one thing I want to say about going back into churches it's hard to find a church that has a balance and that lets the Holy Spirit be the one who teaches the man starts thinking he is the teacher and he may be used in that office but it's always the holy spirit that is our teacher
I love my church. My pastor says "Come to Heart of the City church and get offended" lol. We need a church that can make us uncomfortable with holy spirit correction and teaching.
Whatever it takes to keep the numbers up and thd money flowing is what many pastors are chasing. And always remember those in leadership roles within the church is a man first.
Nic, I live in the South USA. One thing I noticed when I moved here from up North is you can find numerous different faith churches all over the South. But I also noticed many churches have closed their doors for declining congregations. It is regrettable to see. I have also noticed there are a lot of big mega churches here, but they wouldn't know my name if I went there every service they had for a year. That is very sad.
Mega churches today are Walmart churches. Kicking the mama and Papa churches out . I am having a difficult time trying to find a church . I moved , semi homeless and where I use to live I’m 3 hours away .
As you were talking about sprinkling scriptures into the sermons, the thought came to me that it is like they are just ticking a box at the end of the process. Like an ornament put on a house after it is built, instead of the foundation upon which it is built. Really sad. 😢
One day I was listening to my Pastor preach. He has gone viral many times, very popular and the church has become HUGE. He said something in his sermon that really had me stuck. People were cheering and immediately, 2 Tim 4:3 came to me. I did not know that Scripture but I remember hearing the Holy Spirit say it. When I went home, I research and thought WOW! We as people have to get out of always wanting to be comfortable and not convicted. We all need correction, without it we will left in the wilderness.
Hey Nick, you were on fire 🔥 👀 today I keep saying this but that was a good sermon, Preach bro Preach we need that not no sugar coated sermon keep up the good work my bro 👏
AMEN! PRAISE JESUS! THANK YOU ALMIGHTY HEAVENLY FATHER! AND THANK YOU NICK, GOD BLESS YOU! It’s amazing how the Lord works! When my cat woke me up at 4am this morning, the first thought I had was remembering a part of a dream last night, which is kinda rare, and what I remember is, I picked up a bag of salt water taffy to get a piece & on the bag it read “Jackie Hill Perry”…😮😱 I just remember reading her name out loud & being really excited, talking about how much she loves Jesus, and so after I’m awake & that runs through my mind, I pray & then turned on my tv and went to this video and listened to what she said and let me tell you, I can feel the Lord speaking to me loudly! I’m just starting on reading the Bible & I have a really bad problem with being able to focus & concentrate, and I’m always trying to do more than one task at at a time, which helps me get a lot of nothing done…I know though that God will help me as long as I’m trying and wanting and willing! Thanks so much to anyone that even read this 🙃 Have a Blessed day!
Hi Nick Jones, I really appreciate how you have critical discussion about Christianity especially on topics that isn’t normally discussed in church. This was so good. And this is the truth that unfortunately a lot people would still challenge as otherwise
All my life I always felt rejected by church culture and not accepted. The truth is that some if not most people in churches are more concerned with their accolades, titles and positions. Often associating with people who have positions within church or lead church groups. If I personally had/ have deep biblical questions and life experiences I am attempting to find a biblical basis for, my words would be rejected or dismissed compared to someone who has a pastoral position, is well-known, or associated with leaders. I do not think churches are supposed to look the way they do today. In America we have become too comfortable sitting in a pew and getting caught up with doing for God. That's fine and dandy however there is so much more. Other Christians in countries are in hiding because of their Christian faith. As these are the end times, would we still look the same if we were being attacked to the point of hiding in secret places to continue to spread the gospel? Are we going to places where people don't want to necessarily go to in order to be the Bible that people have not ever opened or seen? Why are there so many churches near each other however no fellowship or community exists between or amongst some churches? Why do Christians become so attached to their church that they quickly say something along the lines of "I have a home church". However we are the church and we must step outside of ourselves. Go beyond our comfort zones to ensure that Jesus' feet keep walking, Jesus' arms are reaching to all parts of the earth, and Jesus' hands are healing.
Couple weeks ago I prayed that you go back to reading more from the bible like how you did when I first started watching you. And here we go 🙌🏾 keep reading more from the bible each video I beg ooo
Sir you hit the nail on the head at 13:44 this was my thought. The conversation can and should be had amongst believers but when you are amongst all types of people it inappropriate. First off they don't understand the things of God. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Colossians 4:5.
This!!!....❤ Nick! I 100% said the same thing about Tye making those comments to the crowd he did it with. I think sometimes the problem westernized "Church-folk" have is that they believe the "church culture" is normal accepted "world" culture. They dont realize that the people they are speaking with and complaining to want to see their "church culture" and everything related completely destroyed. Its kinda like a man airing his grievances about his marriage to his female co-worker who has been checking for him and is looking for an opportunity to get with him. WRONG CROWD!!!
@@Warriorsofchrist_33 A very intelligent Holy Spirit filled and led woman would have no problem abiding by God’s word for married women in the church. Don’t you love how simple God and easy to understand God made his word and his thoughts towards our roles in the body of Christ. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 1 Timothy 3:2 "Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach." 1 Timothy 2:12 "But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet." 1 Timothy 2:13-14 "For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." 2 Corinthians 11:3 "But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ." Genesis 2:18 "Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." Titus 2:3-5 "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored."
Wow Nick! Thanks for speaking on this.. the Holy Spirit has convicted me about my Bible study!! I need to dive in the word but the distraction of my emotions is so great. It’s like we know what we need to do but put it off. ❤no more of that. We need the word cause literally our lives are depending on it… I’m ready!
I always tell people that church is a 3 way street. It's not a performance that we come and watch. It's an experience between us, the pastor and God! So I come prayed up ready to receive from the Holy Spirit and give back to It as well.
As Christians, none of us should be trying to be celebrities or be puffed up. A lot of Christians get caught up in their titles and such forgetting that Jesus said, we are just mere servants for his kingdom. Jesus is drawn to those who humble themselves. So if you see a Christian full of pride, there's a high chance that God's spirit is not even with them.
Thanks for taking your time and revealing heart on this matter. It has been helpful to me because I have been distracted lately, jumping from one thing to another. Now, I will stick to my prayer and study time with the help of the Holy Spirit and get someone I can be accountable to. Thanks again, and may you continually be blessed by the Lord.
Well said Nick like always. Discernment now a days is extremely crucial in this time we are living in. 2 Timothy 4:3 speaks to that whole heartedly. Jesus be a fence 😮💨😮💨🙏🏾
How are you able to decide what churches are or are not being led by the Spirit? How do you know what GOD has led a particular pastor or pastoral leadership team to do I. Terms of building up a church or not? Where are you getting this and how are you able to discern thus for a congregation or ministry that you are not a part of?
Bro. Nick I totally agree with your comment scripture is just sprinkled in the service here and there. I would dare say "Adding a little scripture just like Satan does. Misquoted, not in context. And prayer is not encouraged to offer to explain the Word through Him The Holy Spirit.
Sometimes, I'm not going to lie, I miss being bored! I miss the child-like imaginations that come with that! I miss just being outside and making up the fun instead of 'going to the fun!' ( Hope that makes sense) Like an already prepared parade! Instead of having a make believe one with your friends! Now it's like, "let's go to this bar, let's go to this concert, let's go to that restaurant." Instead of "these couch cushions are shields and the floor is lava, so try and conquer my kingdom if you'd like" 🤷🏼♀️😆 Now everything is so robotic, so we can't help but want to zone out 😮💨
@@arin.officialwords It is so hard to remember how much fun we had and did cherish it at the time! Being an adult can be so gray at times! We have to do hard things but also try and remember to make space for fun. But I know how hard that can be to do sometimes!
“The church” is a place, because most ppl listen to respond will hear the church meaning “ALL” churches instead when you hear “some pastors” means a person…ppl will hear individual not All Churches. That’s the difference….most don’t research or ask questions about a particular ministry, they will judge based on one visit or someone’s opinion, projection of hurt or what they heard…I agree with Nick Tye statement was true it was stated in the wrong room…that was a family (with the church) conversation not with non-church ppl because that interview will be heard all over world as don’t go to church then partner that with Jackie statement (don’t go to church because pastor are trash) Jackie is talking to church ppl about the church Tye was not! I hope this explains it a little bit
What about the wannabe small town Pastors who are celebrities in their small communities?!? Saying, “God gave me this city.?!? Numbers. Heart breaking ~ no discipleship, no freedom, sickness, financial poverty ~ over and over and over.
People should also consider that they themselves maybe the problem and not the local church. For myself I have seen both sides of this equation. I was raised in a Christian family but seeing pastors who stole from the congregation and hearing of the abuse of children by clergy helped push me towards the world and ending up a lukewarm Christian for most of my life. Looking back I recognize that my dad’s family were life long members of a church that fed meat and I did not and could not see that when I was younger. There was nothing anyone, anywhere could have said that would have made me see b/c I was blind. Only God made me see that I was blind, deaf and dumb. Looking back now I am embarrassed but also saddened that many good meat churches maybe gone b/c so many of us were swayed by the rotten fruit that we did not hear nor try to understand or go back.
I think the thing that pastors need to understand is it's not about them it's about lifting up the Holy Spirit the Lord himself and letting him draw all men to them they're just the voice piece that God uses to teach the community the church itself and yes it is intense when it is a charismatic movement going on in that church because the Holy Spirit wants to do Miracle signs and wonders because people come there to be set free they also come there to be saved and Sanctified and they come there to be administered to not just through the word but in prayer and supplication you know there's a lot more than people understand when they go to church why they go to church that's like a spiritual hospital for the world that gets saved I mean come on and if the pastures dry and the Holy Spirit isn't using him because he isn't letting the Holy Spirit use him or her then it's going to be dry who's going to want to go there they're going to find a place where they know that the holy spirit is there the minute they walk through those doors
Amen.....TYE TRIBBET SAID THE CHURCH IS WHACK IF THE CHURCH IS WHACK THEN HE WAS TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF WE ARE THE CHURCH COME ON NOW.....THATS RIGHT A DAILY BASES MY GOD THIS IS GOOD YOU DONE HAD CHURCH HERE!!!!!GLORY 2 GOD THE ANGELS ARE REJOICING YOUR VOICE NEED 2 BE HEARD MORE MY BROTHER....
Tbh, I do not enjoy going to the church building. I love worship music but I can already do that at home. My friend and I have Bible studies at home and I'm always reading and listening to biblical sermons/Christian podcasts in my own time. The gossip, micro-aggressions, people who really go to church to flirt or secretly find s*xual partners, constant asking for tithes and offering throughout the whole service, ATM machines in the building, etc. is really out of control. I prefer connecting with my own friends and family to talk about and grow with God. A lot of churches do feel like a circus, so I agree with Tye Tribbett. I also believe in honoring the Sabbath and most Christian churches do not do that, or have service on Saturday (outside of HI's and 7th Day Adventists).
"...not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Heb 10:25 NKJV Consider praying and asking the Lord for the church that you should attend. I get it is impossible to find a perfect church but nonetheless scripture clear.
@@tonimartim5056 I'm not "church hurt" lol I just don't like the foolishness in the church. And I actually did stop going to work and started my own business bc I didn't like the conditions of the workplace. So, yeah. Nobody is expecting perfection, but I'm also not expecting a clown show either.
@@battle.rhythm.pursue8892 church is not a building. You can have church at home. You can assemble with friends and family to talk about God. You don't need to be a member of a church to have a relationship with Christ.
Question, what are everyone's thoughts about selling merchandise at church,as pertaining to guest speakers advertising there books and churches having there own merchandise like there name on tshirts journals etc...
I honestly think it's a time and place for everything. If we here to hear the word of God let's do that please. Leave the selling for outside in the parking lot on a Saturday.
I sure do love listening to real men of Gid who don’t waterdown the Gospel.Steve Gaines, Adrian Rogers, Charles Stanley,SM Lockridge, David Jeremiah, Tony Evans, Ray Comfort, and Alton R Williams. Wise men who fear the Lord! John 3:36
Nick you ain't telling nothing but the truth 😁 cause that's exactly what I'm going through right now so I'm finding myself trying to get back to doing what is right and that's running back to the Lord.😢
Hey Nick, Im a new Christian. Im so excited along this journey and you are a great resource throughout my process. I want to know your thoughts about the Sabbath. I want to find a church in my area, DMV, where I can worship on Saturday. We are supposed to keep it holy. Somehow the devil tricked us into worshipping on the fist day of the week instead of the last day. Somehow we know, Sunday starts the week but we are ok with that being The Lords day. He made the whole world in 6 days and rested on the seventh. The devil has perverted everything. He has people at the club during his day. Can you PLEASE discuss this topic. So many people dont realize what they are doing to themselves and God. Thanks
God didn't tell us what day to worship, he said remember the Sabbath and keep it holy, and to rest, the bible tell us that the disciples where gathering on the first day (acts 20v7), you are getting caught up in things that will make you religious, worry more about getting to know Christ and hearing his voice, and growing in the fruits of the spirit and in righteousness, make every day a holy day for God, not just one day a week
Exodus 20:8-11 God did tell us what day to worship and it’s not legalism to be obedient to Him. The first day, Sunday, is not the Lord’s day. OP - indeed it would be nice to have discussion about the Sabbath
@jenibo go and read the new testament and see what day the disciples use to gather together, and go and read that commandment again, it says remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, it didn't say remember the Sabbath day to worship and gather together on that day, you keep the Sabbath day by resting on your work, he didn't tell us that's the day that you should gather together to worship me, let's not add to scripture
@@jeniboI need healing and be back in the Holy ghost. What was I thinking all my siblings and family in Christ. Why let me play and go back to destruction ajd and waste....THIS WAS WRONG N Now I sit here waste. This is bad. Please pray.
The Word says He gave pastors. . . We must have churches (flocks) for pastors to lead. If it wasn’t essential then he would not have given us pastors. Get involved in your local church to fellowship with others and to be taught. The problem is a lot of these pastors are not called but are hirelings.
Scripture in Luke is King James Version (KJV) But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
Hey Nick, you’re right on point with what you said. My problem with these churches nowadays is that they’re entertaining for the money. They are not giving the reality of Hell actually exist, they making it seem like if we don’t flaunt or put on these big circus shows we’re not going to get saved. My whole thing is that Heaven and Hell exist and if your not living your life right or bearing fruit you can’t make it to heaven they not telling people what they need to hear in order to get saved they’re playing with people’s emotions just for a buck it’s a joke! I just think some of these pastors are just another con artist conning these people to get their money because money always seems to be a topic for preaching and not the actual bible is being taught. We need to know what’s in the Bible which is our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
This needed to be said. As a young adult I have to say, I am tried of the plays and theatre acts every Sunday. Some of these pastors and Bishops are out of hand and out of order with God. A lot of them today are motivational speakers and not pastors.

1. EXPOSITIONAL PREACHING

2. BIBLICAL THEOLOGY
Does the church openly confess key biblical doctrines? Do the leaders consistently teach sound doctrine? (Tit. 1:9-11)
3. PRIESTHOOD OF ALL BELIEVERS
Does the church encourage and equip each member to use their gifts for the edification of the body?
4. CHRIST-CENTERED PRAISE
Does the church sing songs that make much of Jesus rather than us? Does the service make us decrease and Christ increase?
5. MEMBER CARE
Does the church take membership seriously by seeking to ensure that its members faithfully attend? Does it encourage members to fulfill the biblical “one-anothers” with each other? Does it call members to repentance? (Heb. 10:24-25; Eph. 4:11-29, Matt. 18:15-17; 1 Cor. 5:1-13)
6. DISCIPLEMAKERS
Does the church take seriously the call to evangelize and then to walk alongside new converts in order to build spiritual maturity in them?

A lot will literally compare themselves to Christ. I went to a church and a pastor used the story of Martha and Mary at the feet of Jesus and said he needs more Martha’s to be serving HIM. Which is a major butchering of the text

I am so glad for your comment. It reminded me of the saying, it is the way of a man and not God.
There's almost always one around. It might not be as lazily close as we want but if you find a good church, please go once a week at least.

I supplement also with the Bible and online Godly teachings too❤ oh Lord save us and our children

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Your videos motivate me to grow in the faith. Thank you and blessings to you.
The way he started this video😂😂😂😂 I haven’t even gotten to the rest of it yet but that almost took me out 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks so much to anyone that even read this 🙃
Have a Blessed day!

Nick!

Great message all around! May God continue to bless your ministry ❤
Thanks for taking your time and revealing heart on this matter. It has been helpful to me because I have been distracted lately, jumping from one thing to another. How are you able to decide what churches are or are not being led by the Spirit?
How do you know what GOD has led a particular pastor or pastoral leadership team to do I. Terms of building up a church or not?

whats your thoughts on a pastor that preach the word out of Amplified version....
Why are people mad with Tye Tribbet for saying the modern church is wack but it’s okay for her to say some pastors are trash.
The amount of echoed “hmmm” and “yea” drove me insane 😂
I understand the church hurt but there are good churches out there. Do we stop going to work because conditions and people are not perfect?
"...not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Heb 10:25 NKJV
Consider praying and asking the Lord for the church that you should attend.

The Word says He gave pastors. . . We must have churches (flocks) for pastors to lead. If it wasn’t essential then he would not have given us pastors. Get involved in your local church to fellowship with others and to be taught. The problem is a lot of these pastors are not called but are hirelings.
Scripture in Luke is
King James Version (KJV)
But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

Wheewwww... I was telling someone this the other day. But let me stick to my Bible. Amen
