After the cameras stopped rolling, do you think Savannah completely left The Allstate Man (Kenneth) alone? Did she backslide and hook up with him from time to time?
I think she left him alone. She seemed done. If she did go back, it was just once more, and she got disgusted with herself and left him alone for good.
I feel like they broke up completely because he lied about leaving & the pregnancy of his wife. How he promise once he leave wife they will have family.
I think yall got that part at the beginning wrong. Savannah was being sarcastic when talking about taking somebody man. If she really wanted to she would have been checking them out but she was ignoring them.
Babyface wanted Whitney Houston to do the whole soundtrack but Whitney said "No, if this movie is about a group of women, then have a group of great women singers on the soundtrack" and it was said Whitney literally hand picked her favorite singers to be on the album... And I think she picked the right ones 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
R.I.P. to the late great Iconic musical legend Whitney Houston who breathed life and vitality and vulnerability and relatability to Savannah. And to answer the question, I dont believe she went back to that 2 timing Kenneth. She realized her worth after dealing with that situation ❤️
I thought that this movie was actually sad but really progressive in nature. Robin, the youngest of the group allows herself to be vulnerable to teach Savannah, one who is older than her. Also I like how Gloria found a genuine connection with a man, and she’s not the typical thin Hollywood beauty like the others. Also get into Savannah’s toxic mama, corroborating the foolishness. Totally showing a situation where the saying “mama knows best,” simply isn’t true. We want to obey our parents thinking they have the best for us, but they can be loud AND wrong, putting us in the same generational situations they are in! So glad Savannah thought for herself.
The difference between Terri from Soul Food and Savannah is that Savannah volunteered to send her mother money. Terri’s family just assumed and made all kinds of decisions based on the assumption. And it was always out of nowhere. ‘Oh family need money? Terri got it!’
Hey guys, y’all got that initial whole first take on Savannah wrong…in the beginning at the party when Savannah said “As soon as you turn your back I’m gonna take you man” and “I’m single, desperate and have no morals” she meant that sarcastically, not meant to be taken literally 😂 she was just projecting what she knew the insecure women at the table were thinking in their minds about her intentions! The book goes a little bit further into that…if anyone hasn’t read it, I suggest you do bcuz it’s an EXCELLENT book ♥️
@@HeitCheri Ok cool and also I don’t know if you remember but Bernie and Savannah were college roommates, I know you all had a question about their friendship and how close they were ☺️
I knew their relationship as detailed in the book but I deliberately didn't discuss it here because we stick to what we know from the movie, not details from the book because the book and movie diverge in places... Also because everyone hasn't read the books.
I read the book years ago and as in most cases, the book was better because it tells more of the story about each character. When I got to the end, I wanted to keep reading to see what would happen next.
I would like to add that all four women looked so beautiful. The makeup was flawless. It looked like Iman makeup which was launched in 1994 a year before Waiting to Exhale which came out in 1995.
Honestly I was so happy for Gloria by the end of it! She was so wholesome and her heart was in the right place. She was the only one of these women who went at things in an appropriate way and got her a great man. I was hoping for a spinoff or a sequel for this movie but it's definitely a classic!
The Waiting to Exhale soundrack was to date one of the greatest ever without question. Hit after hit. When Savannah sat down at the table and said that single desperate thing, I thought she was being sarcastic and saying in her mind what the other women at the table probably thought...
Whitney Houston was truly Savannah! Her character was so spot on and I forgot this was Whitney Houston a few times. I love when we can hear each character in most thoughts 💭
Savannah did not allow Kenneth to do her later what he was about to do to his wife & children. "He's a good man, Savannah? He is in a bad situation right now?" Please!!!!! I was glad Savannah did not get involved.
What I love about this movie compared to other movies staring Whitney Houston. I see Savannah not Whitney Houston this why I feel like this her best movie ever because we didn’t superstar WH we see Savannah everyday women. Do you’ll know Jordan from Best Man character basic off Savannah.

He introduced her as his “friend “. Do you guys believe they were in a committed relationship or just dating? Granted he’s wrong either way, I think he invited savannah to meet him while he was on a date with another woman.
Mama he's married 🤣 Another great video! In the scene where Robin is talking about her abortion, there's a kid in the background saying, "Where's my mom? Have you seen my mom?" 🤣 My sister and I still say that now and laugh 😂😂
He probably married out of sympathy, obligations she’s a “might as well” wife.. she did this for me stuck by me might as well I marry her or she had my child might as well I marry her, pressures of family. Many men has married women they never really wanted.
I dont know where yall came to the conclusion that savannahs mom was a sidechick herself at some point. I've watched waiting to exhale probably a dozen times and I've read the book twice. I always thought that Savannah's mother was coming from a place of experience from the standpoint of maybe when she was young she Was on the same moral high Horse that Savannah was. Maybe she followed all the rules and did everything right and Savannah's father still left her or passed away and because she was still up on that? Moral. High horse she ended up alone and she didn't want her daughter to end up the same way. just my opinion
I think Savannah and Robyn are different because it seems Savannah doesn’t want to be a side, but to her it seems like that’s all that’s out there and she feels she needs the human contact. I feel that
Why did it sound like Savanah was man hunting in the beginning?? 🤨🤨 Just to say she is not desperate. But moved to another state to meet a man she talked to over the phone 😒🤨.
I think the difference between Savannah and Robin is that Savannah is not intentionally trying to be a side chick. I think that’s what make this story so complex. When we actually read past our initial judgement of each character, we realize that these women have been completely misled. I get that side chicks have a bad rep but I have seen more women with no sense of direction than women who are with married men for the hell of it. And honestly, if men make themselves unavailable like us women do when we are off the market, these women would have no buyer to sell their product to.
I agree that these women lacked sound guidance. I also agree that intentions matter. As women, I think we should be clear about what we want and how to get it. That was a huge problem with these characters.
Y’all are aware that they can’t hear what she’s thinking in her head? So no she doesn’t deserve people to be harsh on her. She was probably being sarcastic when she said that. And she did say that she prayed to God for God to bring her a good man and that’s what she’s been on the search looking for. So much to the point that she decides to drive fromDenver Colorado to Arizona to find a good man. And I blame Society for this. She has a good life if she focused on herself and not on getting a man.
Aww idk y’all aired this on my bday this yr 🎉 But uh, I always felt that due to how the ladies was looking at Savannah when she sat at the table, that’s where we got her sarcastic inner thoughts “Yes I’m desperate…”--basically answering to their looks/assumptions and jealousy. I always assumed she knew Bernie from college or school... However Bernie moved on once she got married, had kids, and her husband started the company. Plenty of ppl have friends that are long distance and haven't seen them in a while, however they're still in touch with one another 😒 Like come on ppl grow, make career moves and have families, that doesn't mean we're no longer friends anymore 🙄

I don’t know if you all noticed but in that song, they play sitting up in my room by brandy and Donald Faison is in the movie and he was in the music video and I remember because she was sitting up in her room because she was too nervous to go downstairs and talk to Donald Faison at her birthday party
I forgot he was in that video. I think it was because the song was on the soundtrack and he was in the movie and considered a young dude that would be a perfect love interest at the time. Great reminder if that video!
@@HeitCheri I could never forget because this was just before clueless when he played Stacey Dash’s Bf. As a kid, I was a big brandy fan and I remember seeing that and I only watched waiting to exhale last night so that I can watch these reviews.
Fun fact, Brandy is Whitney Houston’s God daughter. I agree they did their thing on the track for this movie. Momma is married! Thank you for all that you do in these well put together analysis.
Yeah but this was a very prevalent mentality with older black women that I knew growing up. It is better to share a man if you have one of your own. Two marriages later I am so angry with those women are giving me bad advice. But I do not blame my husbands side chicks at all. I would’ve been better Off by myself. And yes I’ve been married twice about my husbands side chicks. And it took me years to realize I don’t need that. I don’t even share shoes what does it look like me share my man. I’m OK being by myself. I sit here and make ridiculous comments on peoples videos. And I’m OK with that.
I hear you. One thing about advice from older generations is they really do think they are telling you what's best. In life we have to just go ahead and discover what's best for ourselves and do that. 😊
I mean I always thought Troy stole the wallet. However I think maybe Robin lost it. In the work scene where she gets pissed at Michael, she presented something and there were discrepancies. She could indicate that while Robin is smart she misses details. She could have put her wallet somewhere and lost it. Devil’s advocate. However, realistically, Troy’s junkie ass swiped that wallet lol.
MAMA HE'S MARRIED With all the pressure from online and from family to have a kid married or not, It diffecult to have respect even you said no to them. I had the same conversation with my mom, and believe it or not, with brother that I do not want to be a sidechick or a baby momma just because of society pressure. While my dad, understood what I want and let me be.
Savannah seem like her Momma was married and allat during a time where women needed Men financially to survive & that her mother was a mattress, maid, & mule in exchange for the Man, Status, & Stability.. thee Father left, and they were instantly broke.. Influencing Savannah to be financially Hyper independent. BUT.. thee way Savannah contradicts herself.. i wouldnt be surprised if its to be low-key implied that the men she has relations with, give her gifts and such. She may not ask for the gifts or anything cuz she may feel that makes her like a prostitute .. But she would accept the gifts as a Bonus to her worth & to actually help herself hence the paycut and even tho times had & have improved as it concerns pay for women and such.. Thee pay still wasnt allat as a single woman with no kids . At that rate too.. Savannah would be conflicted on whether or not being a Wife is actually a prize. Even tho she's been pressured to feel like that's what shes supposed to do. Amongst being a side chick not really serving her in the ways she'd like either
The Prince of Tides is a great love 💞 story. It is Barbara Streisand's directorial first time ❤. Nick Nolte is vulnerable but really loves his wife. During the affair Streisand admits it will be hard to let him go, but she knows his wife will want him back because she has "tasted the merchandise" 😂😂😂.
As a teen, besides Bernadine, I was not drawn to anybody's character in this movie that strongly. That changed years later through rewatching. Anyway, Savannah (though a successful career woman like Robin) seemed so shallow to me until she wholeheartedly accepted what "made her an a-hole" and decided to do a 180 in her life.
As a man, yes I think he did that shit because his demeanor in character was just so unpredictable. And Michael had money already, so he had hard feelings, but he didn’t need to steal from her.

Game, Steelo, Swag/Swager, Sauce, Rizz. All the same thing.
Alright now!
Mama he's married!
Fun fact, Brandy is Whitney Houston’s God daughter. I agree they did their thing on the track for this movie. Momma is married! Thank you for all that you do in these well put together analysis.
She was not really her God mother... Maybe fairy God Mother but not her actual God mother. She was more her mentor because Brandy was her biggest fan.
Mama he’s married👏🏽
Chile Savanna wasn’t just having a big exhale, SHE WAS EXHALING!!!🤣🤣
😂
My children are saying Rizz, I just learned about it in the last few months too lol
😂
I mean I always thought Troy stole the wallet.
However I think maybe Robin lost it. In the work scene where she gets pissed at Michael, she presented something and there were discrepancies. She could indicate that while Robin is smart she misses details. She could have put her wallet somewhere and lost it.
Devil’s advocate. However, realistically, Troy’s junkie ass swiped that wallet lol.
MAMA HE'S MARRIED
With all the pressure from online and from family to have a kid married or not, It diffecult to have respect even you said no to them. I had the same conversation with my mom, and believe it or not, with brother that I do not want to be a sidechick or a baby momma just because of society pressure. While my dad, understood what I want and let me be.
Can y’all please do a breakdown of Love Jones or The Photograph?
They went to college together that’s how they know each other lol
I think Savannah was being sarcastic about having no morals
I believe that Whitney was supposed to play as Berdaine
Only Rizz I know of is Ralph Tresvant lol
😂
Mama he's freakin married dude...gosh!!! 😂😂😂
😂
My daughter definitely said I have “unspoken rizz” 😂
LOL
There are two lady waiting to exhale too!!!😊😅😂
The Prince of Tides is a great love 💞 story. It is Barbara Streisand's directorial first time ❤. Nick Nolte is vulnerable but really loves his wife. During the affair Streisand admits it will be hard to let him go, but she knows his wife will want him back because she has "tasted the merchandise" 😂😂😂.
Oh I forgot about that one too!
A genuine depiction of a loving affair “The Waitress”
I can't remember that one. I'll have to revisit it. Thanks!
Jungle Fever is a possibility.
Absolutely Troy stole her wallet, he was suspect from the beginning
Savannah was being sarcastic at the New Years Eve. That was not a sincere statement. I am really enjoying you commentary.
Great series, I got thru em all!! And btw, Momma he's married!!!😂😂😂
Yesss!!!!
As a man, yes I think he did that shit because his demeanor in character was just so unpredictable. And Michael had money already, so he had hard feelings, but he didn’t need to steal from her.
Troy had stolen the wallet.
