Damn I didn’t realize how significant that 400 point battle was till watching this video. Would’ve been crazy to see a 15 car chase field
This is like a prequel for the first chase video and I love it
Rc racer 88 is right you are really stupid ignorant and incorrect dale was far better than overrated not a real 7× Jimmie Johnson
I know that music at the beginning is from a race game we use to play together but I just can't remember which one. Good job on the video.
I forgot how crazy these races were. You have a knack for giving the story in a compelling way. Great video, I'm a fan of your work!
Mike Bliss scored his only top five finish
The only thing that irk's me about the creation of the chase is that it skews history. That and stage racing. Kevin Harvick will never be a closer or anyone else because a lotta point are on the the line never were before
Love this.
cool
Bobby labonte crew chief change is probably the worst decision ever made in Joe Gibbs racing history and probably nascar history
Turns out that change was requested by Bobby himself. Definitely backfired on him pretty badly
@@mikevaz9944 I know I listen to the scene vault podcast interview with mcswain I think he and Kyle would've been money together
@@juanbautista1851 That was my source too lol. For sure Fatback could set a car up to fly
This is the 2004 Chase drivers respective careers ranked worst to best
#10: Jeremy Mayfield (#19)
#9: Elliott Sadler (#38)
#8: Ryan Newman (#12)
#7: Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#8)
#6: Kurt Busch (#97)
#5: Matt Kenseth (#17)
#4: Mark Martin (#6)
#3: Tony Stewart (#20)
#2: Jimmie Johnson (#48)
#1: Jeff Gordon (#24)
Good list but I would say Johnson>Gordon since championships are basically all that matters in the long run
@@jacobedison6826 Except Johnson's titles aren't even weighted as highly because it was off his 10 race success rather than full season dominance like Gordon's 4 titles
@@BrandonA1 I'm a Jimmie fan, so I'm biased. Either way, they're both all time greats, top 5.
@@jacobedison6826 There's no doubting that, in my opinion he was the best driver in Nascar for about 5 years (04, 06, 09, 12, 13) and was a top 3 driver for a decade. That's extremely impressive
@@BrandonA1 Agreed. Both all time greats, you really can't go wrong with Jimmie or Jeff
Jr would have won this but nascar cheated him with that b.s cursing penalty
I'm pretty sure he would've lost regardless. It was a stupid penalty, but Kurt's consistency method was unbeatable when the entire chase field had at least 2 DNFs.
The Atlanta wreck and the mechanical failure is what really took him out. If he had just ran 5th and not pushed the issue with Carl I think he would have taken the points lead. If the Darlington issue affected that I don't know
