It was so frustrating, especially to do it in the midst of a championship battle. At least those 25 points were somewhat inconsequential to his year-end points standing (going off of raw points, at least). Though I do like to think he would have been much closer had he not suffered his injury in the American Le Mans Series
the chase was to prevent the Matt Kenseth scenario from happening again but I would much rather have the Matt Kenseth scenario than the Jimmie Johnson scenario
random fact: in one of the special features on the dvd they do a feature of Everham Motorsports, one of the shop guys does a excellent cover of Brooks & Dunn's boot, scoot & boogie (well the first part of it)
I still have the DVD of this! Why? Because Kurt Busch is my all time favorite driver. What a great season! 2009 and 2015 were his two other best seasons where he was close to getting more titles.
Owned his own engine business at one point until Hendrick bought it out and Hendrick hired him. At one point Hendrick got their engines from B&R engines from Winston-Salem. Kenny Bingham and Ronnie Reavis. Dorton knew how to make power didn't he?
It's Kenseth's fault our point system got messed up like this, he has a huge point lead in '03, they start the chase, Jimmie Johnson wins five championships in a row from '06-'10, and they mess up the point system. What they should do is simply go by laps run and laps led. Benny Parsons had one victory in '73 and still won the championship. I could see Earnhardt Jr. win a championship or start winning again, or at least see Jimmie try to tie the record set by Petty and Earnhardt.
+bernardo ibarra I don't hate Jimmie Johnson. I think he's great! I believe the negativity is based on 'perceived' personality issues (which I, by the way, think it's stupid! lol) I read a comment someone else made who said Jimmie was wooden and didn't show enough excitement when he wins a race. Now tell me, how silly is that?? lol Everyone who wins doesn't have to have a hoop-n-holler personality! lol
***** The way I see it, there Must be something to the allegations of tire tampering and fixing races. France was at the helm, therefore he needs to be gone. Sad state of affairs.
His interminable dominance in NASCAR, alleged cheating and tampering with cars, and particularly dull personality is what most fans despise about Jimmie Johnson. I used to be one of those who hated him and his success, but I respect him more than anyone now. There is no denying that Johnson is a legend of the sport, and Chad Knaus is one of the most intelligent crew chiefs ever. He knows how to prepare for a race like no other.
season that changed nascar forever lol! for the worst NA$CAR Jimmie Johnson wins 8 championship and beats dale and richards record will nascar wake up? they better people wont wacth anymore i promise.
They ruined this series with this format change up, trying to contrive reasons to make it entirely driver focused to build new starts post-Earnhardt. This misses the point of the Year in Review series entirely. Unwatchable.
Docking Dale Earnhardt Jr. 25 points for one cursing slipup is the stupidest "violation" I've ever seen and heard of.

They taken out the best NASCAR announcer for some James Earl Jones impersonator.

It almost happened in 2011
This marked the beginning of the end of NASCAR
No, the Gen6 was the beginning of the end.
@@GatoradeCupSeriesX94 agree
@@GatoradeCupSeriesX94 no 2015 was the begining of the end
@@santinopucheta1111 Since 2015, it's got even worse...
@@GatoradeCupSeriesX94 the last great season was 2014
The first Chase was the best: It had the best 10 tracks and NO TEXAS!
oh wait you mean 9 best tracks.
No, 10 tracks. I will take Darlington any day over that boring ass track the Tejas Motor Speedway
My only question about 2004: "Why did Dodge use Stratus decals on the Intrepid?"
This is an outstanding presentation!!! Great music and a great narrator!!!

Gordon would have won that championship without the chase format
tmoney011491 You better say thanks for Kenseth for destroying the championship being from the 500 to the Ford 400.

Screw kurt busch he does not deserve that championship Dale Jr is 04 real champion NASCAR cheated him with the b.s cursing penalty
KURT BUSCH BABYYYY!!! BOO HOO JR FANS 😂😂😂😂
@@rcracer8872 Jeff Gordon would have won the 2004 championship under the old point system.
NASCAR races are phat.
now kenseth is drving stewart's car
Randy Dorton didn't know his name but from what I have learned definitely one of the best engine builders.
Owned his own engine business at one point until Hendrick bought it out and Hendrick hired him. At one point Hendrick got their engines from B&R engines from Winston-Salem. Kenny Bingham and Ronnie Reavis. Dorton knew how to make power didn't he?
I LOVE the new Chase format this year!!!! A LOT of intensity.
Main takeaway from this documentary is poor Kasey Kane lmao. So close to winning several of the races during that year.
oooooooo
NASCAR got funky in 2010
The best NASCAR series is NEXTEL and Winston
nice
0:35 So true
KURT BUSCH HELL YEA!!!!!
The start of Mickey champions
Music of 0:10?
This was Dale Jr's championship to win 1:04:00
Sike. Kurt Busch has more talent in his finger than Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2:14 what song is it?

Eric Cox Lol Matt didn't change the format, NASCAR did.
Yes it was like he was getting paid to win and stay consistent lmao
17:51 is the important part
Thunder by one David Robidoux at the beginning, everything else, I don't know.
2020?
@mikeyravens52"number eight team"

+San47di So many victories that he is tired of victories, believe me.

he lost the championship by far more points than the penalty so no, he still would not have won
Whatever. And Im a Dale Jr fan.
What wow
Wow
who was dale jr.´s relieve driver
Jeff gordon
Then who was jeff Gordon's relive driver for him
jIMMIE jOHNSON
The relief driver was Martin Truex Jr, a driver for Dale Jr's Busch team at the time, not Jeff Gordon
Martin Truex Jr and John Andretti

yes congratulations to the real champions of 2006-2010, Burton, Gordon, Edwards, Martin, and Harvick in that order
newmanfan39 What about 2004 and 2005?
ARAD_Austin Tony Stewart was the man in 2005 no matter what.
Burton????? Hahahahahahahah
R C Towse burton almost won anyways in 06 but he choked at the end of the dumbass chase
Gordon 04,07,2014
2004 the beginning of the end with the stupid gimmicks.
If Dale Jr wouldn't have got the pentalty and wouldn't have done that DUMB Atlanta move, he would have WON!
Corey Kulcavage Yep
Should've been Dale Jr's year
That cursing penalty was bullshit
