The Second Chase

  • 2005 was a chaotic year on and off track for the NASCAR Cup Series, Jack Roush and his five drivers dominated the season, taking up half of that year's chase field. None of them however led the points as long as Tony Stewart or Jimmie Johnson, who became the lone Chevrolet's that year to fight for the title. Chevrolet was the least represented manufacturer in that years chase as even the ailing Dodge had three drivers in with a shot at winning The Second Chase.

Kurt’s interview after Roush booted him is hard to watch even after 17 years. Roush and Maricopa County did him so dirty and ruined his reputation, 6 years before Kurt tried to himself.

If this does become a series and we reach into 2006 and beyond, I propose a new Chase scoring system where you add up the amount of cock-ups incurred by teams/drivers versus the screw-ups made by the officiating body.

Funny how people really thought JJ was the next mark martin after 05.....always wondered if mark had to give back all the rocking chairs he got in the 1st half of 05...and as much as rusty and newman didnt get along, ryans performance at penske really dropped off after rusty left...he won the 500 a couple yrs later...but that was it in the 12

I can’t wait for 2006 personally because I’m a Jimmie Johnson fan but also for
    - Jeff Burtons collapse
    - Tony Stewart winning 3 races
    - Robby Gordon throwing equipment out of the car killing Burtons chance at getting back on the lead lap after putting
    - Kasey Kahne
    - Bank of America 500 and UAW Ford 500 because of the chaos
