The Second Chase

- 2005 was a chaotic year on and off track for the NASCAR Cup Series, Jack Roush and his five drivers dominated the season, taking up half of that year's chase field. None of them however led the points as long as Tony Stewart or Jimmie Johnson, who became the lone Chevrolet's that year to fight for the title. Chevrolet was the least represented manufacturer in that years chase as even the ailing Dodge had three drivers in with a shot at winning The Second Chase.

Kurt’s interview after Roush booted him is hard to watch even after 17 years. Roush and Maricopa County did him so dirty and ruined his reputation, 6 years before Kurt tried to himself.
Jack was tired of all the antics I think. Kurt was a firestorm and it was all jack could take
"After Robby has completed booking his overnight stay in the nascar hauler..." 🤣🤣🤣
Robby Gordon was just chaos personified
amazing content
I hope this becomes a series
If this does become a series and we reach into 2006 and beyond, I propose a new Chase scoring system where you add up the amount of cock-ups incurred by teams/drivers versus the screw-ups made by the officiating body.
The craziest thing to happen in this chase: Matt Kenseth won a pole
This is what nascar's drive to survive needs to be
Mike Bliss is a caution in every race
Funny how people really thought JJ was the next mark martin after 05.....always wondered if mark had to give back all the rocking chairs he got in the 1st half of 05...and as much as rusty and newman didnt get along, ryans performance at penske really dropped off after rusty left...he won the 500 a couple yrs later...but that was it in the 12
“Many wonder if Johnson will ever win a title” that’s so weird to hear now but it absolutely was a reality.
Being a Johnson fan as a kid between 2004 and 2005 was suffering.
43:20 never forget Kyle petty omg easily one of the top moments in nascar showing the never give drive these guys have. Along with Jarrett winning his last race I think amazing moments
Hell yeah Kyle great job
I remember this race as well the flips and the finish
The laugh I just burst out with when you said, "Many set the question of whether (Jimmie Johnson) would ever win a title." 🤣
Stewart was crazy good in 2005. I still remember watching the last race on TV. Mom couldn't stand NASCAR but she knew Tony was my guy so she just played WoW as I cheered on my favorite driver.
I can’t wait for 2006 personally because I’m a Jimmie Johnson fan but also for
- Jeff Burtons collapse
- Tony Stewart winning 3 races
- Robby Gordon throwing equipment out of the car killing Burtons chance at getting back on the lead lap after putting
- Kasey Kahne
- Bank of America 500 and UAW Ford 500 because of the chaos
Man, was there a race Mike Bliss wasn’t wrecking in in 2005? Lol
The 3rd Chase: Start of The Lowe's 48 Era
I like to see Atlanta motor speedway and New Hampshire speedway returning to the playoffs schedule
really don't understand why this isn't bigger. everything you make is stellar content
These debris cautions are so sus. 😂 Wished NASCAR would let them race. Amazing video!
“oh and the 97 car goes around” legendary
Man I love watching stuff like this. How many chases are you going to do?
Goodyear fucking over NASCAR in the early 2000’s was just one of those guarantees in life
In the 18 years since this has happened, I forgot just how godawful Goodyear was that year. I remember Charlotte and Pocono without issue, but it seems like every danm race has tire issues.
A bit late to the party but oh man these vids are incredible. I hope you continue these videos even to the modern playoff era. Great stuff!
This channel is incredible, thank you for all the great entertainment!
Amazing work as always NBR, keep it up!
I've been binge watching season reviews for both early-mid 2000's NASCAR and 2010-2020 Formula 1 and I have really enjoyed both the First Chase as well as this entry. Please continue to make these! They are extremely entertaining and a great way to relax, and I would love to watch this become a series I can keep coming back to!
These videos are awesome. Thank you for who put these together. I wasn’t a big NASCAR fan back in the day so now going back and seeing these type of videos makes my life so much easier. 😅
You did a fantastic job on this. The photo of the drivers as they were eliminated (going to black & white) was great. Thank you
Dude your channel is about to blow up.
Congrats.
Gonna have to watch this when I get off work thank you!!
I hope you put more videos on here NBR and that's great Dale Jarrett won his last race in 2005 and Kurt Busch's interview after leaving Roush is hard to watch
Up and coming nascar RUclips channel I just came across. New subscriber here… keep up the work kid.
The one Jeff Gordon missed.
that charlotte race was crazy
When Roush was absolutely unstoppable
great video man, found your channel recently and you are criminally undersubbed
Fantastic job. Took me a few days to get threw but well worth it!
31:40
fantastic song from one of the best racing games off all time; "Top Gear" for SNES,
highly recommend the game sound track.
Fantastic Nascar content 🏁
list of songs used?
This is easily becoming one of my favorite YY channels.
I'm literally binging on your channel right now
These cars are gorgeous, specifically in their short track config.
EDIT 1: Jesus, Rusty pulled a Han Solo and dodged dying at 36:35. Shame he didnt miss damage entirely.
Not me watching these from Chase 4 to chase 3 and now chase 2
Okay. I love these vids man
I really hope you make a Third Chase. Jimmie's win in 2006 is incredible.
you've got some really good videos, are you gonna do one for each of the 10 chases? 2009 and 2012 are two I'd really wanna see
Talladega was the last victory for Dale Jarret and Robert Yates Racing.
20:00 in and the gen 4 car is as amazing as i remember. Jr absolutely destroyed right quater panel and gets 5th
The 2005 dodge charger pace car vs stock car is the abomination of “stock” in “stock car” that I loved about Gen 4 nascar.
the football game that happened before the Charlotte race was notre dame/USC. i remember cause i'm a ND fan and watched both back to back, lol
Man roush was so good.
Charlotte 2 '05 reminds me a lot of Kansas 2 and Texas 2 from 2022 - super worn out parts, blown tires everywhere, drivers nursing their stuff throughout the whole race.
*pause* It was the Top Gear (SNES game) music at 32:00 that made me comment. That nostalgia hit hard. *unpause*
Are you going to be making more Chase videos? These are fantastic.
Oooh, can you do one on the third chase?
Do the third chase!!
Carl was so close
Pain..........immense pain.
Super
What's the intro music from 0:00-1:45?
Amazing video man🦾👋
Make this a full series
Hey NBR, thanks for this video, I enjoyed the first one and the same with this.
Denny would become the first rookie to make the chase the next season.
More.
Martinsville be like: Yellow flag go vroom
You kinda sound like Brock Beard
no at phoenix Mark was still lijebale
1:50:23
Can you make The Third Chase?
Jesus Christ give him time!!
This was made 20 hours ago.
Sorry. I just want see the recovery of JJ
At least give him a couple months jeez
2005 Chase drivers careers ranked
10: Jeremy Mayfield (#19)
9: Greg Biffle (#16)
8: Ryan Newman (#12)
7: Carl Edwards (#99)
6: Kurt Busch (#97)
5: Matt Kenseth (#17)
4: Mark Martin (#6)
3: Tony Stewart (#20)
2: Rusty Wallace (#2)
1: Jimmie Johnson (#48)
I would put Stewart over Rusty honestly
@@joshuaholder655 biffle > newman kenseth > martin stewart > wallace
@@kadens Rusty has 55 wins dumbass
@@coca-colatrackhousewarrior9925 and Stewart has 2 more titles, with 6 less wins. That's literally just a better driver
Who ever spun rusty wallace i hope they never won
I miss this era. Bucktooth Denny, pussyfooting Martin, Mike Bliss blissfully spinning literally every single week, Evernham cars, JJ titleless. Ahhh. The memories.
Meth Kensatt
The Gay Points format that is awful.
