I just picked up a used 2018 P100D model s with 55,500 miles on it, full self driving beta and the arachnid 21 inch wheels on it for $42,600. This same car brand new in 2018 retailed at $135,000. Add on the FSD for $15,000 and the wheels for $5,500 and after tax the total cost was over $165,000 and I paid about 1 quarter of that price. I actually prefer my 2018 over a new model s because I absolutely love the sunroof I can open and I really like having a stalk with my blinkers and horn instead of a tiny little button on the steering wheel. I don't think I'm ever going get another car. When the battery on my P100D dies I'll just throw a new one in and keep on rolling in Ludicrous plus mode 😎😎

@@DrewsReviews2023 Thanks. My prior Tesla was a 100D that I just sold and I was a little skeptical of how much faster the P100D would be compared to my old 100D cause the 100D was really quick, so I took my son out yesterday to test it and OMFG, it was unreal. The g force, I could feel it in my face. It was just like a roller coaster and I only had it in ludicrous + mode. We're going test out the launch mode this weekend and I can't wait.

I picked up my 2018 Tesla Model S 100D, with all premium upgrades, loaded for 32k out the door. I absolutely love it! This is one amazing car and such a joy to drive. I’m wondering though, how did you get a transferable free supercharging from the previous owner? The dealer I bought my 2018 said that the transferable free supercharging is not available for my car. Could you explain in more detail how you have it on your used Model S? My premium connectivity expires in a couple weeks, so im seriously thinking about spending the $9.99/ month for that service. i also want to try the FSD. mine also has the Advanced. Navigation Computer system upgrade. The only upgrade i had installed on my Model S is the retrofit for the CCS adaptor charge capability. This was money well spent. Now i can charge literally anywhere. Great video!!

One of the benefits of buying a new tesla vs used is the utilization of the ev federal tax credit. Depending on your AGI, you can get the full $7500. In certain states, there are additional tax credits/incentives you can claim. Whereas buying a used tesla, you can only claim the used ev tax credit if it was purchased from a dealer. As for state credits, it's possible that used vehicles may not qualify. I do agree that buying a used tesla can actually be a great value, but utilizing the tax credit (if eligible) is a huge help when buying a new EV (in this case a model 3).

I have seen someone use a smart summon one time. It was raining very hard and he parked very far away so he used the smart summon which was pretty cool to watch how the tesla navigated though a packed parking lot. He had a tesla model 3 performance. I am planning to buy a tesla model 3 long range very soon. since its going to be my first car it need to be cheaper and good range and quick charging so old model s isn't an option. Though I like the design of the model s over the model 3 but personally i need quicker charging and longer range (atleast near 300 miles)

Hey man, I really want to support your channel and its clear you made this video in response to my response... If your vehicle works for you, thats cool brotha.. but the comparisons made in this video are biased and the chart doesnt match up.. Comparing an S to the base model 3 and Y is apples and oranges.. they have two completely different target audiences.. its like comparing an older benz to a newer subaru wrx... maybe youll want to change the title to "Can a USED Tesla model S do everything a NEW model 3 can?" (The answer is still no lol)
.. well... since this video was for me.. here I go... 🤣
Heres where I disagree with your video:
    1. You gave a "check" to "phone used as key without opening app" to the used tesla, but yours cannot
    2. You gave a "check" to smart summon, but yours cannot
    3. You didnt mention that you have to pay the $15k in order to retrofit your old Model S with those cameras for FSD and if your model S was made in Q1 of 2017 you will also have to pay to have the computer upgraded (and in some ares Tesla has refused to perform this upgrade).
    4. You mentioned that the old S and the newer models perform the same functionality of FSD regardless of cameras and hardware.. this is incorrect your model S does not handle these situations the same and hardware is the biggest key factor (Look up the difference between AP, EAP, and FSD).. but if you are going to pay the $15k + whatever Tesla is charging today to upgrade the hardware.. then this statement will hold true...
    5. You didnt explain that you cannot take long distance road trips in your model S (you can drive any model 3 long range or performance from end of canada to the other end without issue)
    6. The newer teslas charge twice as fast (you brushed this off, but because you cant take long trips, you wont understand how much of a convenience this truly is)
    7. You didnt mention that the new Teslas come with heat pumps and their range isnt affected by cold climates much at all while your old S will barely make it to the grocery store if it ever sees the cold (joking.. kinda...you live in florida, so no biggie for you on this one)
    8. Panel gaps... (Those old model S are notorious for having the worst panel gaps out of all the models for some reason... Its where all the jokes come from.. I will bet you 2 cups of coffee yours definitely has them too lol.. heres a 2023 model S long range with horrible gaps 3 minutes into the video ruclips.net/video/GNcjg1smE8M/видео.html)
    9. The responsiveness of the older S console is noticeably slower than newer model teslas
    10. Saying the new Teslas do not have a sunroof (This statement is true, but I think you should tell people why)(I bet you dont even use yours much)
    11. No custom light shows for your old S... (This is so fun.. I make my own and download others for free all the time all the time.. its cool to see peoples faces when your car is dancing to more than that basic song and even syncing with another teslas)
    12. (This was the deal breaker for me) Next to 0 aftermarket community... There arent even aftermarket taillight options for the S 😞
    13. $10 a month for premium connectivity (Yeah, I agree with you that this sucks, I think $5 a month is more than fair.. however.. you know the part in the video where you said "I recently got an update to make my Spotify more responsive?' lol well the irony... this is where that money goes (youre welcome).. to application updates just like that one.
    Where I agree with you:
    1. FSD is a joke... (Ive had it for two and a half years and got it back when it was $10k, Im on HW 3.0 and even with all the updates.. the damn car will still brake for no reason on the freeway)
    2. The smart summon feature is a joke and still doesnt work.. (Ive embarrassingly used it in parking lots and the car acts like a scared kitten and will just stop trying all together)
    3. The smart summon feature is really a joke.. The forward and backwards function sucks just moving the car in and out my garage.. it will stop for no reason and you have to start again sometimes multiple times (I honestly have very little faith in this and I assure you it is not worth the $15k Elon is charging especially when Ive seen KIAs perform this function better).
My final 2 cents: Im going to start off with this... Its clear you bought the S for a "look" or a type of "prestige." And I agree that it LOOKS better than the 3 (I prefer the look of the S over my catfish any day lol and it is my strong opinion that the model Y is the most hideous looking EV ever created so far, but to say that the old S is better than a new 3... thats a stretch... its like comparing an old Dell computer to a new Ibuypower PC and saying the dell is better because it consumes less power 🤦‍♂... its just not better... Before I bought my 2018 P3D- in early 2021 I compared and drove and older (2016) S and the 3. I was surprised that the S really felt old inside compared to the 3. And with me standing 6'5" I was also surprised that the S felt like I had the same interior space as the 3 even though on the outside the S looks much bigger... My final conclusion was clear and hasnt changed... I would take a used long range or performance model 3 with that lovely motor and battery warranty over a pre-refreshed model S or X any day of the week. You are losing out on so many tech features and quality of life improvements just to save $10 a month? I prefer the faster car, with more tech, more range, more customization options, and more warranty. And with me being a "car guy," not having any aftermarket options on the S is still a dealbreaker for me today.. I really enjoy tinkering on my cars (if you couldnt tell) and with the S just not having the options to allow you to step out of the box is the reason I dont even want a Plaid today... but thats just me. But again, Im glad you enjoy your car, and happy you have something reliable, cheap to drive, and embrace the future like the rest of us. Continue to be great.

Although I do think you are a cool dude, I did not make this video for you. I made it because I felt like it would be informative for people looking at Teslas, but since you did take the time to type up a response and I appreciate you taking the time - I did want to respond.
Phone as Key - As I mentioned I can go completely without a key fob as long as I use my apple watch or open my phone. So the phone can work as a key - it cannot work as a key without using an apple watch or opening the app first though.
2017 Model S can use Smart Summon - Mine is a 2016, which is why I opened the video mentioning the whole way through that 2017 or newer models have this feature.
My 2016 cannot be upgraded for FSD, but again 2017 models can use FSD. In the whole video I speak about 2017 and only show my 2016 at the beginning when I was explaining the model I purchased.
Long road trips can easily be taken in old Teslas. I bought mine in Atlanta and only stopped 2 times during a 6 hour drive. They road trip just fine.
I did mention that new teslas charge twice as fast and specifically mentioned old cap at 150kw.
The responsiveness of the older S console is noticeably slower than newer model teslas - After driving models with MCU2 and the brand new teslas I honestly don't notice much of a difference at all. Must just be for me personally.
      10. I use my Tesla Sunroof every weekend and have had no problems with it. Will update the chanel if it ever breaks.
I do wish there was a bigger aftermarket community, but I hope now that they are cheaper in the used market more mods will come. As I mentioned in a comment to you - your Tesla is awesome looking. Would love to do a front and rear kit on the S.
Regarding your 2 cents - Thats the beautiful thing about Teslas as I mentioned before - they are all fun. Secondly, I am not saying the S is better - but I have had many of my friends have misperceptions about ModelS that they are too expensive. And I want to bring more awareness for people to buy to car they like the look of best vs the price they can afford. I want more people to realize that regardless of the Tesla you like (including the model 3) if you buy it used you can save a ton of money AND have the same features as all the others.

One thing left out of the comparison is that a car with 50,000 miles on it is a car with 50,000 miles on it. While the motor and battery may still be *almost* as good as new, the shocks, bushings, tie rods, drive shafts, weather seals, all bolts and nuts, seats, carpets, etc. will have 50,000 miles of wear and loosening-up on them. No 50,000 mile car is as tight as a new one. Will that used Model S be tighter and more solid than an new Kia of Chevy? Maybe. Will it be within 3 light years of a brand new Tesla? No.

What a new Tesla can not do is bankrupt you with a $20k dead battery. I still think used Tesla’s are great but that’s genuinely my biggest concern with teslas close to the end, or out of, their battery warranty.

Totally understand realistically the cheapest you can find teslas is around 25k

you dont need to pay for premium connectivity lmao there's this crazy invention called Bluetooth audio which just plays the music when you get in. or if you are not shit with technology you can create a Samsung routine that turns on your mobile hotspot when you get near to the car and turns it off when you get out of the car automatically so therefore you will have the "premium connectivity" features
another reason to consider the new tesla would be the painfully slow intel atom in the old ones over the new ryzen chips
to be fair i would probably consider a used model S (along as its not older than 2019) over a new 3 and Y.

Those are good points. The bluetooth will do the trick quite well, I just personally prefer to not use my phone at all while driving - now that it is all built into the car. As for the slow chips - I did not personally notice a huge difference in the various Tesla models I drove - but certainly if you get back into a 2013 model S the difference is extreme. Thanks for adding to the conversation and good points!
