Because then you start to get at the heart of the matter, which is a general level of racial backwardness. I’d be willing to bet the whole neighborhood knows exactly who placed that call, but not a single one of them will out that person. It’s the absolute worst form of racial solidarity on earth, and they are better at it than any group alive. Best believe, if the cop who flipped hadn’t, and threw his phone in the river like the other ones, even with all the other physical evidence, those cops story would have been believed and it’s a great chance they would have gotten off. It’s sick.

Mr. Jenkins, the victim who was shot through the mouth, is a musician who was a singer. Part of the reason his lawyer read his victim impact statements in court is that he still cannot and will never be able to speak clearly again due to his injuries. He will never sing again. Those useless thugs took away something priceless from him.
Since they are being sentenced right now in the federal system, they will have to serve 85% of their sentences before being considered for "supervised release." No, the federal system doesn't have parole but it does have supervised release which is an identical twin to parole, no matter what any politician says. I hope when they apply for supervised release, the supervisory board finds each of them inappropriate for the supervised release program. They took things away from both victims that can never be restored or repaired, they don't deserve to serve one second less time than those incredibly light sentences.

Nothing will ever change until settlements are paid out of pension funds. Taxpayers shouldn't have to pay for bad cops. They need to fear losing their retirement money, which is why they become cops in the first place.

Unfortunately, even if they lose their qualified immunity, it is still almost impossible to sue them personally. The taxpayers usually wind up footing the bill because of the police unions, just like the taxpayers probably footed the bill for their defense. 🤣🪖🤣

The exact comment I was looking for. I have family from Mississippi that have land but would rather live in Texas. There are situations I have been i formed about that should definitely be investigated.
They keep talking about just a few bad apples; the problem is the other supposed good apples helping to cover it up, planting weapons and lying on police reports. And I am a white woman living in a wealthy suburb. The more I read the more I am discouraged...

I was in Mississippi in 1958 as a child a four year old little white girl. The things I saw and heard gave me such horrible nightmares there and for months when I got home to NJ. Waking up screamimg. I never went back.
So if you say that as a white girl, imagine the experiences and subsequent trauma of black peoples there and other places. They’re still alive too, including my father.
I understand fight when in Danger but man the hate these guys carry inside them is just pure and I doubt the feel repent.

This is why law enforcement across the country is against body cameras. Without them, they never would have found out about it, and/or it would never would have stuck in a court of law. I'm amazed that this qualified immunity didn't get them off the hook.

Yeah they will. They will live in protective custody together. Cops go to prison and get out all the time.
They're going to federal prison probably in isolation. Criminal cops rarely serve their sentences in general population.
There is no PC or SNY in federal prison. That being said, they will likely do the entirety of their sentence (which is every day of it because it's fed time) in the hole. Isolation, no canteen, no privileges, no tv, 23 hour lock down in a concrete closet. 1 hour in a concrete room open to the sky

They got away with this for decades despite victims speaking up. We haven't gone backwards, we just never lived up to the ideals of civil rights. The old ways left over from slavery have been kept alive. It's time for us to face racism seriously and do some real national soul searching, we can do better and we have to do better. And sorry Desantis and followers, but this means that us white people are going to have to face some very uncomfortable history and current realities without defensiveness. It's not about blame, it's about acknowledging the truth so we can finally move forward as a country and begin to heal.
