Off grid: Ecoflow Delta Pro - Battery Memory Fix

  • After using the Delta Pro for 10 months as the sole power supply for my small workshop, the battery started losing capacity. The lights would last all night when I first got the unit, and now only lasts 3.5 hours.
I called Ecoflow customer service and Jhoan advised me to "recalibrate" the unit by charging it fully, and then shut the unit off for an "hour or two", then deplete the battery. Repeat that cycle 2-3 times and if that doesn't fix it, they would escalate the diagnostic process to the next level.
Long story short - It worked!

    Thanks for the video:
After calibrating your battery you can also calibrate the BMS by removing all inputs and outputs. Turn off the unit then press & hold the on/off button for 3 seconds. Now your BMS is also calibrated.

This is a new technology. We are going to have issues. The bigger problem is that the are so many reviewers advertising the pro's with short time use. RUclips are full advertisers living on hits and advertising products. We need more people finding issues and resolving them. Thanks for the video!!!

Solved this problem as follows with my ecoflow delta pro. Once it reaches 100%, take out the solar input and switch off. Leave it off for about 2 hours. Then switch on and it’s back to normal. To check, (multiple the load X time to discharge ) divided by percentage remaining X 100. The value should be near 3200. Hope this helps everyone.

I've done this two days in a row now and it doesn't work for me. I drained all the way until it powered off (an extra 90 minutes at 720W at 1% charge remaining), then all the way to 100% at 1000W AC (plus an extra hour at 100%), turned everything off and disconnected overnight, woke up and it's still showing about 2000Wh capacity. 8 hours remain on a 260W load. 😐

It worked first time. Left it charged at 100% and off overnight. It’s now working normal with a capacity estimate close to 3200. You are a life saver !!!

Update on yesterdays comment. I run the unit down until it said 1% and 1 minute until power ran out. It went almost another 2 hours with a power draw of 700 watts before shutting down. On recharge, it got to 99.64% and said 10 minutes until fully charged. It sat like that for a few hours before it read 100%. I've now switched off the unit and will start it up again in 3 hours and see what happens.

I have a very similar situation with my River 2 Max. The final 1% takes forever to drain and likewise forever to recharge from 99% to 100%. The recalibration process doesn't change a thing.

Update on update. That seems to have solved my BMS problem. Going to let the unit run to zero once again and do a repeat of a 100% charge and shut unit down for a few hours.

I had the same problem with a River Pro, and I’ve seen someone in the forums saying the same of the new River 2. I am really starting to think EcoFlow can’t fix this issue and they know it fully well but can’t admit it as it would cause brand image problems.
I would also like to present a scenario that together with this problem make EcoFlow products unreliable and at most a camping tool. I have an off grid cabin in a remote Island in Italy. I have solar connected to the river pro and a router + security cameras that notify me of any motion detected. Because the battery is cycling everyday (cameras with IR lights at nigh, charging during day) this problem shows up quickly within a week, peaking at 2. By this time capacity has gone so much that the setup which is estimated to run for 60 hours, can’t even make it through the night.
Ok, so what, just reset it right? Turn it off for a few hours then on… except there’s no one there!! The whole reason for the setup is that it can be safely watched for months on end between travels.
    1. This problem should not happen
    2. The fix should be an app button “recalibrate SoC” that executes the sequence and turns the unit back on when done
    3. It’s a HUGE security risk to execute this process, as an attacker could be in action during this time
    4. It’s a resource risk, as solar is my only input, it could be that the next days it’s only cloudy and rainy, thus negating the whole point of having energy ready for emergency
    5. Even if the unit could be disabled remotely, someone has to be physically present to turn it on!
This is a huge mess and EcoFlow is not taking responsibility, mostly because RUclips reviewers aren’t bringing it up loud enough to force a response

    Battery Calibaration Recap...
    1) Charge DP to 100%
    2) Remove ALL inputs/outputs.
    3) Turn DP OFF for 1-2 Hours.
    4) Trun DP ON.
    5) Batteries should now be recalibrated.
    BMS Calibaration (after battery calibration)...
    1) Remove ALL inputs/outputs.
    2) Turn DP OFF "then" press & hold ON/OFF button for 3 seconds.
    3) BMS should now be recalibrated.

Wonderful! I have been suspecting this myself - I have one extra battery and my main Delta pro seems to reach 100% charge faster than the extra battery which will be about 82% at that time. Main unit seems to discharge faster also reaching 20% when the extra battery stil reads 54%. I will try the calibration method and see if that balances things better. Thanks!

I have a new delta pro, and I have another one that has a 121 overload code. They sent me a replacement and I have the broken one. I'm thinking I an fix it, as it's probably the inverter. Also, I'm thinking I can use the other one as a battery. It still takes a charge and shows the voltage. I just can't plug stuff into it. However, I'm thinking I can link it as a battery. Any opinion or anybody know about a fix for the 121 code?

Yes, not battery memory, just a joke of an energy counter internally. LiFePO4 very difficult to measure state of charge and cannot trust % reading. Dont forget to also include internal power consumption used when inverter is on.

Guess I’ll try this. I came home after a week vacation to find my car’s solar setup with a EcoFlow Delta Mini was completely drained. I didn’t have anything plugged in but the solar panel.
Going through some troubleshooting now as I’m very confused 😵‍💫
Edit: it even drains without the panel plugged in so it’s definitely the battery that’s the problem

Based on the estimated time remaining, the state of charge, and current load, I get approximately 2,000 Wh of capacity, not 3600. I'll be doing this "fix" tonight to try and remedy the issue.

    • @bladeslicemaster5390
      @bladeslicemaster5390  Год назад +3

@@assortedmountainlife One thing I've learned since posting this video is that the battery capacity doesn't actually go down. It's just that the BMS is reporting the capacity incorrectly. There is much more capacity available when the counter reaches 1%, sometimes hours of additional operation. Resetting only syncs the BMS with the actual battery capacity.
