Will the Delta Pro run an Air Compressor?
My Delta Pro has been powering my shop for 2 years now and it runs everything I need it to run: table saw, furnace, air conditioner, sanders, chop saw, etc... But it WILL NOT RUN a 5.5HP air compressor.
This video shows how the DP tries to start it and fails. Then I show how my Vevor 5,000 watt inverter WILL run this air compressor.
Thanks for watching.

Delta Pro 2 Year review Off-Grid

This short video is a 2 year review for the Ecoflow Delta Pro powering my shop completely off-grid. I work in my shop on average for 5 hours per evening 2-4 days a week. The Delta Pro is on continuously 24/7 and is always powering various small electronics like the clock, Wi-Fi, security camera, smart switches, battery chargers, etc. Combined with permanently mounted 1500 watt solar panels, the...

When I considered buying the Delta Pro, I thought it would run my 1hp well pump in an emergency - it will not. To fix that problem, I bought a Vevor 5,000 watt pure sine wave inverter and a dedicated 100 amp/hour 12v battery. When I tried to charge the Delta Pro from a modified inverter connected to my car on a cloudy day, it would not charge. Ecoflow customer service informed me that I must us...

Thanks for this as it's just what I was looking for. Another channel tested the inverter loss for the Delta Pro Ultra and found a 7% loss in 12 hours at idle which corresponds to your experience. It's good to hear that there's little to no loss with the inverter off as I plan to use this as whole home backup with no solar. The Anker F3800 lost 23% of its capacity at idle just powering the inverter for 12 hours probably due to its low frequency inverter as opposed to a high frequency type in the DPU. These are factors that should be considered before installing any of the battery units for backup as that's significant energy draw that has to be replenished.

Vevor? Good luck! That high frequency, transformerless Vevor inverter is not going to last even a year, powering that well pump before you fry the MOSFETs and possibly even cook the insulation off the windings on your well pump's motor. High frequency, transformerless inverters like the Vevor and your Delta Pro are not designed power inductive loads like microwave ovens, well pumps, AC units or large power tools, the MOSFETs and caps simply can't handle the inductive surge currents. You might be able to start and run some high surge loads when these high frequency inverters are new, but every time you fire up one of those inductive loads, you're shortening the life of the MOSFETs in these inverters. Even worse, you don't even have a BMS installed on your battery pack. All it's going to take is for your cells to drop below 2.5 Volts each a few times and you're going to permanently damage your cells. And finally, running your well pump through such a long small gauge extension cord is forcing your well pump's motor to draw more current than it was designed for because of the excessive voltage drop and you're overheating you pump's motor. Basically, you've thrown your money away.

It's currently plugged into an electrical outlet then give power to some appliances, and I would like to program it so it charges at off-peak hours (from 9PM to 4PM next day) and does not charge during on-peak hours (from 4PM to 9PM). Is there a way to do this other than manually unplugging the Ecoflow Delta Pro? I tried to use Automation on the app and did not see a way to do this. Delta pro utilizes the ground from buss panel, it uses ground from upstream. To tie them in can create one of 2 bad issues both of which can be avoided by following delta pro guidelines for independent grounding by utilization of comm port or ev. What you've done is absolutely incorrect and would result in your warranty being void... If buss correctly grounded by one of 2 methods the DP uses upstream ground. Yes, I'm an engineer.

Hi Kieth - I have Fried a couple of Delta Pros and also a couple of Mango Pros. All have been replaced by warranty. I have been trying to figure out what is causing it. and I think it may have something to do with this double grounding thing. I have two Delta Pros now and I am afraid to have the Delta Pro plugged into the grid for charging at the same time I am providing power back into my house via a transfer switch. It is not a problem to provide power to my home while the EF Delta Pro is charging from Solar or an EF Generator. But I think the problems I have encountered in the past are when I try to charge the EF Delta Pro from the grid while providing power to the transfer switch. Is this what you are talking about in the paragraph above?? Is there a way around that or should I just never charge from the grid while providing power to the transfer switch? One note is using a test plug (that shows proper grounding) if I plug it in to the Delta Pro while it is connected to nothing it does not show proper grounding but it does as soon as I either plug it in to the grid or plug in the cable from the transfer switch. Let me know - please.

@@cyberprepper Yes, I tried a portable evaporative cooler last summer. It blows air that is about 10 degrees cooler than the ambient temp. Which is nice when it's 85 degrees, but we had 6 weeks of 100 degree days last year and the cooler didn't keep me cool. This ac unit blows 53 degree air when it's 90 degrees in the shop... Sooo much better! Good comment 👍

I figured mine out. Even if your on a 20amp circuit. The Delta Pro is only rated for 15 amps. It will start to cancel out the charge to continue to power load even at a example 1000 watt charge. I wish it maxed out the amp to charge to allow run time to be longer. Lol

I run a old hisense 12k btu with heat unit. After about 10 minutes it's up to 1250-1350 watts. Then as it cools off it will slightly lower. I have ran it in the shed at 95°F and it was pulling 1540 watts! So the intake temp really makes a big difference. With RV air-conditioners. Dometic says 1+ amp of AC per 10°F over 70°F. So a 15K btu rooftop is 13.5 amps @ 70°F , 14.5 amps @ 80°F , 15.5 amps @ 90°F , 16.5 amps @ 100°F , and 17 amps @ 105°F! That is a efficient portable air conditioner! Not quite inverter style but better than the older ones like mine! Lol . How many watts of solar is your array? I just hooked up my last 3 today making a total of 1500 watts finally!

Good info, thanks! My solar panels are rated for 1500 watts but I think the ecoflow is dialing them back to 1200 watts.

@bladeslicemaster5390 I'm curious to see how my 1500 watt array does tomorrow. I wired 5S3P . About 120v open circuit and about 15.2 amps. I'm hoping to see about 1350 or more lol. I couldn't get it done quick enough today so I'll be watching from work lol. Gotta love the wifi feature! We had a 4 hour power outage yesterday and I got the look from the wife.... "go ahead and do your thing" 🤣 in 20 minutes we had everything going and making coffee lol. We left the fridge on the Delta Pro overnight even when the power came back on just to be sure after all the storms we had and it was still at 60% by morning 😀. Not bad for 16 hours from 90%.

I have also seen that people add something called a "soft starter", which lowers the peak current for items with motors such as pumps and fridges.

I have searched fora soft starter for my well pump but can't find one... I have since acquired a 5000 watt inverter that runs the well pump. Video posting soon!

It sounds like the software is thinking there was a short circuit because of the surge in amps needed to start the motor. Have you tried updating the software for the battery to the most recent version? I have a similar problem (sometimes, but not alwats) when I run my air fryer on the battery and my 25 year old fridge starts up. The power is well below the 7200 max watts that the Delta pro is advertised to allow, but still trips the circuit. I have actually run way more than 3600 W through the battery without it tripping the circuit. I think the problem is that the surge current required to start up the motor on the fridge is high enough that the Delta pro thinks there is a short circuit. I really don't have a way to measure the surge current, so I don't know for sure that that is the problem or if it actually is drawing more than the maximum amperage. If you have a way to measure the current, I would do that to see what the peak current is when the pumps are first turned on. If it's less than 20 amps, then the pumps SHOULD work when plugged in just to the 20 amp circuits. I really want to know if you get this figured out, and maybe I can do the same thing with my fridge.
