I'm Maori and I was also very impressed with the references to wider Polynesian culture. I was initially worried about her being Polynesian inspired whilst being heavy set due to negative stereotypes of Polynesians being overweight, but I was glad to see the inspiration for her full figure was more broadly inspired by other cultural and art depictions depictions of motherly figures representing fertility and life 💜
Her facial expression somehow manages to be caring but also firm and distant. I feel like that's a very appropriate depiction of the earth.
When I first saw her face, I’ll admit I was a bit taken aback. My brain was so used to seeing the monster high sculpts I guess. But now she looks even more gorgeous. What can I say, Terra really grew on me.

I like how the family is coming together. So far terra looks the most like a stern yet loving mother while Aurora and zephy look like her daughters, Aurora being the oldest and more mature and zephy being the youngest wilder child. And then nyx looks like the cool aunt that comes by and teaches them how to pick locks and stuff.

what I really love about dolllightful is unlike lots of creators(in any medium not just dolls) when creating fantasy characters she doesn’t default to white/European features. I feel lots of people when creating someone in a fantasy world, when they are of an unnatural skin color especially, they default to euro features but she doesn’t do that. She includes many different facial features and hair types and is very respectful of other cultures when she pulls from them! overall 11/10 love to see it!!

It's going an incredible disservice to Dollightful to claim that she was bullied into it instead of doing her own research and making her own adult decision. A lot of people were against it and supportive of the doll, no doubt far more people then anyone "bullying" her, but Dollightful herself said she wasn't discussing it because she made her choice. Why can't people make new decisions based on information given?

I love how physically, she’s lower to the ground compared to the other dragon dolls. Also, the larger build and the bigger legs really contributed to the “grounded” look. She’s beautiful!

I love seeing the dolls that represent a broad scope of people. Don’t get me wrong. I love slim women, and I get that that’s the easiest to make because of the already sculpted bases. But there’s something so wonderful about seeing you make a larger woman, or a darker-skinned man, or a non binary character, or a non-traditionally attractive goat man from hell.
Those have to be my favourite from your channel. They not only stand out, but they’re just so wonderful because it shows so many different people. You even mention small things like sharper features or almond eyes and you take so much inspiration from other cultures!!!
I just love how comfortable you are making these dolls and not being afraid to do things, and to do things so well! You truly embody the creative process!

What I think is most interesting is the wooden limbs. To me she is a dragon of earth and stone, and maybe she lost a leg and an arm in battle or something and grew vines and trees into prosthetics of some sort.
I imagine some caveman was sculpting on her leg and they just wake up, and see someone chiseling a statue in her leg like “AYO wtf-“

My toxic trait is that sometimes I watch this video when I feel sad because Dollightful is essentially complimenting my body type
I saw someone else mention that the sea-themed dragon should have scarring or injuries and I really like that idea, maybe a missing limb or a severed back fin, they could even be blind if you go for a more spooky deep-sea look, which I think would look pretty cool in contrast with your other oceanic dolls

Well, yeah, that’s an interesting idea, but almost EVERY element is taking harm. You can’t just ignore all the other element’s struggles. If you’re going to do that, you might as well give the Earth dragon 3rd degree burns and stuff, or give Zephy some type of air pollution representation. There’s no point at all giving contrast for one doll and make her stand out for zero reason. It’s not like the sea is the only polluted thing; the whole Earth is messed up really. So while it’s an interesting idea, why do it because it gives unneeded and illogical contrast? My opinion :)

btw i imagine over time you earn things like staffs, books, etc. by growing and training your powers/ abilities.
•aurora(mid twenties)- i feel as if she does quests to earn her living, kinda like skyrim where your character can complete tasks for people. and i imagine one day her becoming a traveling merchant. she has earned a magical book.
•zephie(teenager)-i feel as if she’s just a normal teenage girl. i imagine her to be very bubbly, goofy and headstrong. she has a close relationship with nyx after being adopted by her, zephie strives to impress her and be that powerful one day. she hasn’t earned anything yet.
•nyx(middle aged)-i feel like somewhere in the dragon realm there’s kinda like a council (again, skyrim, like the graybeards) and she’s second in command. she’s relaxed and like a “wine mom”. she’s earned a staff.
•terra(elder)-i feel as if terra is one of the most powerful and oldest dragons, and the head of the dragon council. she’s rarely seen and many believe she might even be a myth. she has the most powerful magic object in the realm, her staff.

i love this so much. i feel like with the other dragons she would be more like a mum or a guide than anything else. she and nyx both have very ancient god-like feelings, and the others seem like free spirits, more like teenagers if that makes sense. i love that you can tell they would all have distinctly different personalities just by looking at them

Well the other elements that have been made don't work and I don't remember what the original dragon's element was. Water may be able to look like it's made of water, but the others aren't like solids or anything

i was thinking maybe take inspiration from teka todoroki, someones oc which is amazing btw. use the same idea for hair, or at least try to mimic that idea.
We have Flareon as a fire-doll already. So maybe other fire like Lava or even a phoenix type of dragon nut I think that would be too far 😂

Terra is one of those dolls whose video I’ve seen many times. But I often forget how impressive she actually looks until I rewatch the video and I’m always amazed at the level of detail that was poured into making her look both like a convincing dragon doll but also a creature belonging to nature! It never fails to amaze me!
I feel like she was like a “normal” dragon who loved being in the forest and in natural and always made a point to take care of the earth. And then one days she was injured(maybe protecting some forest from someone who wanted to destroy it) and so the earth felt bad and healed her.

yesssss! help from family can always be useful. even if you don’t use the ideas they give you, it can still inspire you, and they can also help with doing the project when you need an extra pair of hands or you need someone to pick something up for you and your elaborate project.
When I was watching this for the second time, (yes I love the dragon videos and can watch them 10 times over and not be bored) when she was placing the moss on the tail, it reminded me of when I saved pictures of moss on my friends school laptops and stuff, it made me very happy thank you for the great memory. Also I love how you include all different cultures, and body types, and you never act like you know everything about one culture and you do the research to back up what you do say. All I have to say is, I love all the dolls you make, and effort you put in to every video, thank you for keeping me entertained late at night! (your videos are also very easy to fall asleep to)
The earth Dragon is my fav from the whole set of dragons. All the detail and special elements just make it an amazing doll, and She basically remade the whole doll, which i would never be bothered to do...Lol but its a great Doll in my opinion!

Ngl, when I first thought about an "earth dragon" I was imagining her with a more gentle, nurturing face (you know, how most people stereotype 'Mother Nature'), but I actually like that she looks a little bit more fierce! She looks strong and powerful, and that's good because Earth (both the element and the planet lol) isn't always sweet and gentle, there are volcanoes and caves and rocky cliffs as well as trees and flowers and what not! And this dragon portrays that perfectly!

Maybe it’s because moss implies that an object (such as a tree or rock) has been there for a long time, so it gives your doll a more ancient and powerful feeling. As though Terra were the goddess version of The Iron Giant

I feel like this doll is the oldest, most mothering out of the dragons. She looks like a sort of mentor to the other dragons, who are maybe just learning the elements. Her design looks ageless.. yet so mother-like. I personally like her face up, the simple face design plays well with the complex body design. Her soft, round, almost ogre like features remind me of the orcs from TES.. and those guys were cool.

I love how she never grabs stuff from cultures without researching first, I’ve seen many creators add random stuff from other cultures without any form of research and end up butchering the meaning of the stuff so bad, but she takes the time to research each project she makes is amazing

When she thought she did enough research she made the doll, but it turns out she made an offensive representation to idiginous culture. Therefore, she removed every trace of the wendigo doll and wishes to never speak of it again.

In the sketch, her face looks very calm and “harmonious“ I guess. But the doll’s face looks more like it belongs in an Hawaiian tribe or something. And because that was your inspiration, I think it works really god!

Coming back to this dragon series in 2024 and Terra is still hands down one if my favourite dolls you've made. The level of detail is insane, the glow in the dark paint makes it even more magical and the colours are just gorgeous 😍

This is probably my favorite doll she's ever made! Not a single detail was missed! The wood and rocks look super realistic, and I love how the horns look like trees! Every detail adds a noticeable difference and I'm obsessed with it!

Ah, I love rewatching Kat's videos! The first time I was watching this episode, I was right at the scene where Katherine goes, "Now I know this looks something akin to a medical procedure..."and my mum walks in to ask me something. She was talking and almost finished her sentence, then noticed my TV, the RUclips pause button no longer blocking the action, lol. She goes, "Huh?" Turns her head towards the screen, then, "Oh..." and quickly walks out and shuts my door, one thing she normally never did correctly! I can still picture the face she made. I obviously chased after her, trying to show her it's just someone making an art sculpture. Hurriedly fumbling to find her finished works on my phones.

Re- binging the entire dragon series cuz I was bored one morning….
i find the banyan leg very interesting. banyans / stranger figs are weird plants, as they're trees that grow in a very un-tree-like fashion, kind of like a vine. they find a host and envelop it. so it's kind of like the tree grew there naturally, enveloping whatever prosthetic was put in place to grow it.
I’m imagining there’s some cute little creatures living on Terra and grow up on her until they’re old enough to leave and explore on their own.
