- Oh, my! Zura the Succubus makes her grand debut, thus completing our demonic family trio. Please enjoy, and Happy Halloween!
I know things are a bit different this year-I couldn’t participate in the annual Halloween collaboration between youtubers, nor did I have the faculties to produce a full stop-motion animated skit at the end (as per tradition!). I love how even though ember was made first you can still see what elements came from her dad and which from her mom. Like she has black hair like her mom but white streaks like her dads fur. Her eyes glow like her dads but they get the shape and color from mom, and ofc the body type from mom but with dads legs. Love the way she put so much taught into these designs.
I just had a really random idea, you should make a biblically accurate angel doll and make it ember's gf. It would be so cool especially bc I don't think anyone has turned a biblically accurate angel into a doll before, plus angels don't get enough rep when It comes to what they actually look like. Zura Headcanon: The horn that has the tattoo is a little swollen because the tattoo is relatively new. :) Her horns are like deer antlers in the sense that deer antlers shead and get swollen if broken. Zura's horn is swollen because of the new tattoo. ^u^

I think I remember this idea being pitched awhile back. I would love to see it happen, but I think chances might be somewhat slim. At the time, Dollightful said that she preferred not create specific couples or pairings among her dolls. I think this video might have been a rare exception. : (

A note, I am simply repeating what I have seen over and over again from American Indigenous people; I myself do not have an authority on this topic.
TLDR; the w*dingo is not a deer and many American Indigenous have said over and over again not to use their folkore.

The issue with the w*dingo is SEVERAL things, but it has little to do with the creature itself and more on the general problem of non-Indigenous people appropriating Indigenous culture while Indigenous people themselves have been barred from expressing that very culture. It's a very ugly history; this aside the general preference that outsiders not adopt any element of their folklore unless it is in a near purely Indigenous context.
Also, you'll see me and some others censor the name because according to the original stories, saying the creature's name will draw it close to you. I'm simply showing respect for those stories by doing so, although I am not Algonquin myself.
But I feel like you may have one key question after reading all of that; appropriative how? For starters, Dollightful's interpetation of the w*dingo is an incorrect one. It was never a deer. Descriptions will vary, but it is actually described as being more humanoid.
The w*dingo isn't just some monster, it is a specific creature with a specific purpose, whose stories have a specific message. It's sacred; not sacred meaning "good", mind you.
Regardless of Dollightful's intentions, she still went against the wishes of American Indigenous by making that doll. You'll even find the sources of what I'm talking about in the description of that video where she talks about this.
I mistaked the banshee with the wendigo. Me being native American, I did not see the doll as offensive and I absolutely loved it. The design, her process, everything.

If a setting has dragons that only have four limbs, two of them being wings, that's perfectly okay within the parameters of that setting. Drogon from ASOIAF is a dragon because that's what he is labeled in-universe. He's not exactly how medieval Europeans pictured dragons though he shares many traits.
I say the same thing here. She might be a succubus, but that doesn't instantly condemn her as a r*p* demon akin to those of our real world folklore. Who knows how her kind operate in this "setting".
funfact: succubus and incubus weren't always different gender. The difference was them being a top or bottom. the word succubus comes from the late latin word "succubare" which means "to lie under" and "cubare" wich means "to lie down". Meanwhile incubus comes from the late latin "incubo" meaning "nightmare, one who lies down on (the sleeper)" and incubare meaning "to lie upon".

I designed a mother-daughter combo in the same way, except I had a seductive red mother and an excitable purple daughter. I experienced the same "first layer was too dark" issue with the purple one

I honestly think this is one of, if not my favorite dolls you've made. She feels nearly alive and looks even better than the concept art, in my opinion. The family aspect gives a lot more life to her as well.

The shoes are from the Scaris doll line! I believe they belong to Skelita, who's from Hexico and resembles Day of the Dead. I was given the doll as a gift from an old friend who came from Mexico and was teaching me about her culture. I wish I still had the doll because it was my prized possession.
Edit: I may be mistaken about the doll line. It might actually be Boo York. She's from the same movie as Jena Firelong (the Japanese girl that I believe was a dragon?) where Clawdeen was given a chance to work for a famous fashionista.
