Yeah! That’s one of the things that I love about dollightfull’s less human characters, she’s not scared to get monstrous or scary. The only one of her monster character designs that I can think of that’s actually idealized or meant to be attractive is Ember, the demon girl, but given her succubus origins that actually makes a lot of sense. Anyway, I just love Katherine’s work and always appreciate seeing female creature designs that aren’t super sexualized.
Or how females in video games are literally wearing a bikini and less armor than guys, but still are technically badass since they fight in heels. 🤘😎

While I'm very sad to see Wendy go, I do respect your decision and my respect for you has gone up because it shows you care a lot about your audience and their cultures.
I had to do some research myself. I didn’t see how the character was offensive. Granted I’m not part of that culture and I LOVE the story of the Wendigo. Mainly because of until Dawn. But after I read up on the subject. Apparently the DESIGN of the doll was what was “offensive” because it wasn’t how certain parts of the culture see them. But other parts of the culture DO visualize them as the way she made it. But even with all this research I did and reading on what she read on. I still can’t see how it was offensive. But again I’m not from that culture. I still respect her decision
I simply don’t agree I read up what she put in the description as well and it made no sense it only spoke of how natives saw them and what they represented death cannabilism, etc. in my opinion that isn’t enough damn cultural issues she was simply making her own interpretation of a Native American monster also why should she have to get rid of it when if u look it up people have made plushies and other dolls of wendigos it’s complete bullshit so can someone please tell me what the fuck exactly was so offensive? We shouldn't say that the people are being butthurt when people who created the monster are trying to keep non-native people from profiting off of the native monster.

@@littlehowler450 Native here, there have been many (and I mean many) instances of Indigenous cultures being culturally appropriated. It can he seen as offensive by taking parts of our cultures and using them for “aesthetics”, like Coachella goers wearing war bonnets to look “”tribal””.
Of course, there is a fine line between appropriation and appreciation, and I believe that Dollightful’s doll was the latter, it was respectful of her to take down the video and educating herself instead of insisting that it wasn’t “appropriation”.
(Also note, sometimes the people who cry that something is appropriation aren’t even Indigenous themselves, there have been Indigenous peoples who have voiced that the doll was not offensive.)
So to answer your question in short form; Yes, it can be considered offensive. It is better to play safe than sorry when it comes to interpreting different cultures in art form.
I love how all the Halloween dolls are more like the found family mini-Katherine has collected along the way. Like they were all gonna attack her but ended up being won over by sweets, and now they're all just one big happy family. It's adorable.
I like how in the Dollightful shorts, Katherine is so used to hanging around demons and monsters that the werewolf doesn't even phase her anymore.

Thank you Dollightful for showing me how to make a movable jaw! I've wanted to make an animal art doll for awhile now and have all the materials. I also wanted to try to tackle a movable jaw, however no video I've found really showed me how to accomplish this and pictures don't really do it justice. At least, not in such a new-user-friendly way. So thank you so much!

What I love most about Dollightful's dolls is body modifications and basically dolls that don't look human. A basic looking human doll with the same costume wouldn't be interesting in my opinion.

Tip from a fursuit maker on fur: Instead of using scissors, flip the fur and use an x-acto blade on the backing, making sure not to cut any fur. That way, you have less of a chance of accidentally chopping any of the floof :D

@@lisamackilligan2589 Well a fursuit can cost between 2000 and like 10,000 so it's pretty expensive, but it takes a lot of time, materials and years to get up to the skill to make the expensive ones

@_flyga _ with all the work she had done on the doll at the time and the new found mistake behind the doll, if she were to try and reuse the doll, I don’t think she could make a video out of it or else it could cause more harm than good. Not to mention materials used on the doll could’ve been costly... but that’s just my perspective

Hearing you say "bizarre mechanical pidgeon" and seeing the armerature for the face has really inspired me, which may seem sorta weird but now I find myself with the strong urge to make a plague doctor doll.....hmmmm
I think it would be a pretty cool idea for her to make another doll to look like the woman before she transformed. She could make the dress again, but not all torn up. She could use the same hair colors, or just one of them. It would be really cool to see her do that.

I know that this was almost two years ago, but awesome work on this werewolf!🖤🐺 The satin fabric looks like more of a red to me rather than a pumpkin orange like you said, but it looks great! As for some of the fur with the black tips being shaved off, werewolves are mutant hybrid human-wolf creatures, they’re not likely to look 100% like a normal wolf. There’d most likely be some alterations that could involve fur color, markings, eye color, teeth size, etc. The same would likely apply to other were-animals such as werecats, werehyenas, etc.

Also it's hella rad seeing you turn Khepri's first body into something new, and revitalise and use all these leftover bits of old epoxy and clay. Very cost effective, and also the pre-painted doll looks extra creepy and Halloweeny with that funny green epoxy.
Also her teeth are such a realistic colour it's slightly uncomfortable to look at, almost like you repurposed some bits of a taxidermy or something. Super cool.

I absolutely love the design, her head is beautiful! I have a soft spot for werewolves, but I do have a piece of advice. when working with fur, it's much easier to use a craft knife! scissors can tend to cut the fur as well, so box cutters for example can really help!

Tip from a furry: your fur cutting method was really good, but it’s even better if you use a single blade (exacto knife, one side of the scissor, etc) & cut down the non-fur side. It takes a bit longer, & your method is probably better in the long run, but it’ll give you the best appearance (& minimal mess) bc you’re not cutting any of the fur! ☺️💖

I'm Native American and I had no problem with the doll, I actually found the fact that she did research on our culture flattering and even more so that she made a doll out of one of my favorite myths.
