I’m getting one, I work from home, so being able to break it out on my lunches and breaks instead of going downstairs seems cool, it’s the ability to have the full ps5 experience while I’m in my room or when somebody is using my tv that makes it dope, get a couple quick games of sf6 in anytime, play metal gear anytime I want in any room I want, when I visit my mom I can bring my PlayStation with me instead of lugging around a whole system, I do t really get the hate either, I hope it does well so don’t can invest in it more, also just bought a ps5 for spiderman and I’m in love with all the little accessories that come with it, I haven’t had this much fun with a system since I was a kid with my GameCube or ps2

Al the people who are angry about everything all the time should realise that the world isn’t all about whatever you want.. the insta TikTok generation thinks every company should make whatever they want! They need to learn that the world doesn’t work like that! And just because you get attention on social media.. doesn’t mean you are a special little butterfly!! This is a accessory! And its not for everyone! And you know what?? That’s fine! I hope the people who can use something like this enjoy it!

Personally, I think it's a waste of money. You can do the same thing with a cellphone and a PlayStation licensed backbone controller and for less money at that. To me, it looks like a cash grab. They're trying to be Nintendo and fail Everytime they try. The ps motion controller, for example.

@@Gingerlion777 I feel it's a cash grab because there are cheaper alternatives to do the same thing, and sometimes better. To me, it seems Sony is taking advantage of their die-hard fans. But ultimately, you're right. It's not for me for those reasons and the fact they're not making any innovations. This is just the PS5 U. Nintendo already done it and failed. Like I said, I'm just disappointed by the lack of innovation.
@MrWill7980 yeah I hear you, but on taking advantage.. 😅 if you buy stuff you don't need because it's playstation.. you have other issues. Because I assume both of us like sony consoles, and both of us are not buying it. I feel like they do try to innovate, like with the dualsense! But I think this product is more like a feet in the market of those backbones.. I think they regretted not having a piece of that market with a product that is theirs. Meh if people enjoy it good for them. The cry for a real sony handheld is a little crazy to me, considering the market of handhelds and the limitations of being a sony only device. To me this is a device more for the Japanese market! I truly believe it will sell pretty good over there.

Sony never marketed it as anything but a cloud gaming ACCESSORY. People that were expecting a portable Ps5 are simply delusional. Idk if there’s a nice way of putting that. We are a decade away from that kind of power being in a handheld. This product is for people that share a TV. Nothing more. I’ll also be getting this. Anyone that has relied on a cell phone/ backbone combo for enough time immediately knows that the EIGHT inch screen / duel sense combo will be a SIGNIFICANT upgrade. And id imagine a dedicated product designed specifically for the ps5 will 100% reduce input lag. And even if it doesn’t, it’s still a massive upgrade for me. Never had much lag anyway. My internet isn’t slow.
this product could make sense If you have a PS5, if you DON'T Have a good 8 or 11 inches tablet, IF you have a very good connection. Too much "IF" for the cost...

So can you use this to play your disc based games if they are installed on the console, but the disc isn’t currently in it? Because I have a majority of my games on disc. If it doesn’t matter off they are actually inserted or not I may actually get one of these since I work long hours overnight.
If the disc is not in ur ps5, you cant play it. You are ‘mimoring’ your ps5 screen.

I wish they bundled it with the ps5 slim as well or bundled the portal with the headphones that would’ve made the people on the fence more willing since not having Bluetooth is such a blow for people I’m excited about it
Completely agree. Lack of Bluetooth is a huge issue to me

I honestly think the Playstation Portal is going to be hands down the best experience for PS remote play. With that said, I thought I'd throw an alternative device in here for people to consider. I don't think it's as good (7 inch screen, small Switch-size analog sticks, crappier dpad), but the abxylute is a pretty awesome device if you want to stream from more than your PS5. I've got one and love it, I use the abxylute for streaming from PS5, PC and my Series X. It supports everything which is great, there are some sound glitches streaming from Xbox but they just updated the Xbox app so maybe that's been addressed, I'll have to check it out. But yeah, if you are primarily a PS5 gamer, there really isn't anything as good as the portal, especially not at this price point. But I think the abxylute is worth considering if you need something that does more than just PS remote play.
I pre ordered it but now I also ordered the Viture one xr glasses which also has PlayStation play on it
It’s pricier but I wanted to check out if it’s as cool as they say.
If it works as great then I will cancel the pre order of the portal since I don’t need it anymore. ( or do I?….well perhaps. Im a gadget addict)

So what is the difference between using the ps portal vs downloading the app on your phone?
Nothing just normal controller with screen and prey dont get drift used same sticks cheap dual sense instead ones from edge controler
On the phone it’s more laggy even if you have good Wi-Fi
Phone would be faster and have Bluetooth.

@@peterparker-wu3io I have a PS4, man. It's VERY hard to justify buying the PS5 with the current prices--especially given the fact that it also plays PS4 games, as you said. I have a pretty vast library of digital PS4 games on my account. Makes sense if I wish the Portal to also be able to stream PS4 games, no?

Yes but did they use same trash company for the sticks as normal dual shocks because if you get drift on this its garbage for 99% gamers not tech fixers. Im on 8th ps5 controler since i got my ps5 on day 1 past year great using there amazing edge controler replace sticks yet those yet have drift after year daily use. This is no buy if its same sticks as normal dual sense sticks. These reviews ussles play less month so no clue of hold up daily use for good period.
Seems like it is a user issue. I have never had a problem with my controller since I got a ps5 in 2021.
