this was literally the best time for them to release a good gaming handheld device especially with the popularity of handhelds with steam deck & ROG ally, hopefully they just testing out the waters which is dumb

@@megamegaO Switch is outdated tho that's why it was good opportunity for them to release a handheld up to date with tech/software like the Steam Deck & ROG ally but its too late now since it seems like Switch 2 is going to be a beast and coming out next year
This is not them testing the waters. The fact of the matter is that mobile hardware is nowhere near the perfomance of the Series X or PS5 and Sony and Nintendo both realized that the support costs of two platforms is not worth it so nintendo went one way since 3DS was one of their best selling consoles and decided rather than a stationary console a handheld that connects to the TV is the way to go while Sony was killing it on set top gaming so that is what they decided to invest on. The only way PS would make a handheld is if it had close enough performance to the ps5 where they could support both easily.
It’s not a bad idea. But let’s be real it’s not it’s own portable system it’s just a more fleshed out remote play which is cool but for remote play. and that’s what most PlayStation consumers were hoping for. Another Sony PlayStation portable system
That Edge controller is $199....Sony don't give a crap because there's no competition.....
Good to know i am not the only one who know sony made the portal like the wii u that is not a bad thing though because for the most part from what i have seen online although it's a remote play use for some people it could save the time to use this device while someone else is using the tv it's going to be a good option for families with kids mostly but now when i think about it most people with kids are likely to get it so it makes sence that this is aimed towards families with kids but maybe even more than that i think it could be a great option for me because i love remote playing my ps5 from my pc or phone in my bad so having a device for that could be cool
As long as it’s in rest mode you can turn your ps5 on and off with the portal.
It's funny you mention this because I had rewatched IGNs hands on video and was wondering maybe I misinterpreted what they meant by "it can do what other remote play devices can't do and that's wake your PS5 just by turning it on." . If that's the case then that's a real missed opportunity. I will definitely see when I receive mine. Thanks for watching!

Actually, they already said it four times now because people just don’t get it at all and now they’re saying that it Hass to be on your home net work and once you leave the area of your home net work will not work so that means you cannot play it on the go People were not getting that either.

You can wake the PS5 from you phone. You can also do it on the Steam Deck. Still have to be on the same network, but it is possible. I will say that the Portal is indicating 60 fps at 1080p while I always have to scale down to 720p to get a decent stream on the Steam Deck. The lack of Bluetooth is not that surprising. Their flagship headphones have always had a dongle.
yup waking is possible but actually turning it on from being completely off is not. The Portal will be able to do that. Thanks for watching!
So the portal is a good product if you realize what it is. Which is a PS5 accessory. It's also priced like an accessory. I would take this over a phone and a controller. I would probably take it over a steam deck or ROG ally for when i want to play ps5 games when in the other room or not at home. It's not Sony's fault everyone hyped this into something it was never going to be.
That's an interesting take. I personally wouldn't take a Portal over a Steam Deck or ROG Ally but I do agree that it is just an accessory for the PS5. It just could of been better if they allowed at least for some games to be a native experience. Even if it was just PS1 and PSP games. We will see how I feel when I receive one!
Be better to get a steam deck for a little bit more to be able to use it anywhere instead of just remote play

It's not Playstation anymore because it isn't. They moved their HQ to the US and it shows. Now they censor anime games. Now we don't see something quirky but funny like the PS Vita, move controllers and lightguns. We get Project Q that could have also acted like a controller with a second screen to have a map, inventory or uniqe party style games. Instead it's only greed and stupid business decisions up the ass. I don't want it to be true, but I think the PS4 was the final good Sony console.

@@alphaj9i think they mean 'good' in relation to competition. The PS4 was flat out better than the Xbox One in everyway.
But this gen not so much. I understand PS5 plays well but sony has lost what made PS4 great. Most people buying PS5 probably had a ps4. There is a new generation of gamers coming and Playstation is not serious about attracting new gamers
Had it since release my dude. Got a Series X day 1 aswell, also the Switch day 1. I am coming from a place of love. But the truth is that Sony is really fucked up this generation@@alphaj9

The Wii U game pad was limited to like 20 feet from the console the portal can be used on the other side of the planet!! So the portal is def better!
Idk how you think this is justified with a 200 price point. The wii u didn't push you to buy their ear buds just because it didn't support Blu tooth..

@@salsal88 I mean I don’t use ear buds really so that won’t be a deal breaker for me and $200 in 2023 really isn’t that much I mean I spent damn near $100 on one theme park ticket this summer!! A dual sense controller is like $70 alone a decent 8 inch screen will easily run you close to $100 and the othe $30 is development costs so it’s easy to find $200 dollars worth of value!! Though they should of made it 5G capable so you could get a data plan and play anywhere anytime natively without relying on something else for wifi. That’s the only thing I see they could have done better. 🤷♂️
