If schools aren't teaching about religion lessons in school than why should LGBTQ? Because last time I checked LGBTQ lessons are being taught in schools all over the world and on cartoons secretly without parents knowing anything about it. Okay but.. what about OTHERS? don't just think about that class. Everyone is different. Learning to accept the community is not easy at first, I get that, but the community still deserves respect. Even if they don't take it seriously, there are still other methods that involve teaching it.
As a student I will say that this would just be free time for us to sleep and play on our phones, therefore it would just be a waste of time to teach us this.

LGBTQ education serves the purpose of people understanding and respecting the LGBTQ community. With all do respect, I don't think you understood or listened to the purpose of this video. However, I do agree that schools should ALSO teach about fiance, laws, how to pay taxes, etc. but, that is irrelevant. The whole basis of this video is to advocate the importance of teaching LGBTQ education in regards to the community.

History teaching is limited enough in schools as it is, Inspite of taking social studies and history all throughout my schooling years (13 years) I never learned of any of the genocides committed in the USSR, China, and Cambodia directly from teachers I had to search them up and learn about them in my free time. 40 million-plus people were murdered and all in relatively recent history, and absolutely nothing in Schools, if I do not have to learn about this in school then why should I be expected to be learn about the history of the LGBT movement. There are far more important things that we have to learn about and preciously little time to be taught a vast amount of information.
Learning about the LGBT movement gives the community respect. You learn how to respect the community such as how to address different individuals. The genocides that are committed are important, I will say that, but I find that if you have a classmate that is part of the community and wants to be accepted but doesn't feel valid because of the lack of knowledge is as important as those genocides, heck, might even be more important. No one is saying you have to take years on LGBT education. No one is saying you should take a separate course. All we are advocating is the fact on LGBT being included in everyday schooling.

no. i disagree. The whole point of teaching LGBT education in school is to get better understanding of the whole sequence so people can empathize with the community. Making it "optional" literally decreases the chances of students taking the course if its optional, therefore, it makes no difference to before which is when the course wasn't offered.

@@leonrothier6638 I can see where you’re coming from, however, I do still believe that lgbtq education can come in very valuable in life and shouldn’t be optional. School taught me about homophobia in its most obvious ways. I began educating myself outside of school about homophobia in different forms. To my surprise, I’ve been actually very offensive to the community and that just makes me think about how other students who mean no harm, are doing harm. It’s also not just about different forms of homophobia but also about basic knowledge like different gender identities, different sexualities and how to respect someone as a whole if you ever do end up meeting someone part of the lgbt community.

Teaching accurate history is different than tearing down statues that represent horrible things.. nobody’s denying that it happened, we just don’t think it should be honored by statues.

Teaching accurate history is different than tearing down statues that represent horrible things.. nobody’s denying that it happened, we just don’t think it should be honored by statues.
How about y’all make up your minds because when it comes to confederate statues you want to “preserve history” but when a chance to learn history comes you hate it. Teaching truthful history is completely different from honoring bad people with statues.
