I started using these. One thing I noticed is that my oil light turns off before the engine starts when cranking. None of the other filters I've used has done this. It means that it's stopping the oil from draining back down more effectively and getting my engine lubed faster on startup. I wish I started using these sooner. I don't have to worry about a bypass because I still change the filter at 3k miles even if I use an expensive filter AND I pull out and replace a quart of oil every 1k miles or so.
I think I was a bit hard on my first Mobil oil filter review, I do think now that they are a much better filter than I gave it credit for. I'm glad to hear that your finding these filters to work great for you. May have another review in the future of these Mobil 1 filters.
Thank you Kurt for watching the video, I would like people to do there own research, my reviews are my opinions and others may not agree. You may like what I do not.
Mobil 1 was interesting, looks like they chose from a list. Picked a few very good features then found out they needed to save money and then stopped picking.🤗
I don't personally like Mobil 1, but I found 4 of them for $1.00 each at Walmart, and they were about 2 times the length as what my 300,000 mile 2001 Chevrolet Impala (original engine) calls for. I like to put on longer filters if there is room and done it for years most of the time on this Impala. I also got about the same length 3 K&N oil filters for $1.00 each. I inspected them well before I bought, and the box and the filter looked untouched. It just looked like they had too many in stock at this Walmart. I'm like you in only going 3,000 miles (5,000 kilometers), too, just because of the 300,000 miles, and may be a tired engine that needs extra TLC, and a lot of those miles have been hard miles, too.
Mobil 1 are decent filters and at a dollar each a steal. You did pretty good on your shopping with the filters you bought, should all work fine with good oil change routine.
I think one issue you may have when comparing filters brands is that you're comparing different filter sizes/applications. There are other M1 filters in different sizes on youtube that show at least two different bypass valve implementations. I think it's only correct to say the (specifically) M1-107 filter doesn't have a bypass valve, not that all M1 filters don't. It would be interesting to compare other filters/brands in this size to see if they also omit the valve.
Thank you Keith, luckily I have learned a bit from my video watchers. When I first began the oil filter reviews I was pretty new to it. I appreciate all that my watchers can teach me.
8:00 Wondering what makes that spring so bad? Ive often heard that an actual spring works best but no proof if its actually better than the spring represented in this video. Can you elaborate on that? Thanks
I have opened up used filters in the past where the stamped spring was flattened out where i have not seen that with actual springs. It doesn't happen often but stamped springs fail more than actual springs. Just my experience with some types of springs in oil filters.

People do your own research. I question his testimony. Mobil 1 oil filters are very good oil filters.

Good point
Not every oil filter will have a release for certain vehicles. My Mobil 1 oil filter 102A does have a release.

@@crazybillsgarage ahhh... I see what you're saying. Awesome video BTW!
@451dskots88 thank you.
How would you rate amsoil filters thank you
Well Nick, Amsoil is not my favorite oil filter. If someone gave me one then I would use it. But I would not buy one myself to use.
it is made by Purolator (MANN+HUMMEL)
Thank you
Correct.
Yup, might as well by Mann and skip the marketing premium
@user-sf7kl9uh7k your so right
I changed it every 4500-5000 miles
Mobil 1 is a very decent filter, nice to hear you are diligent with the oil changes.
