Just a abnormal game playing, fishing, car fixing kind of guy. My dad was a mechanic and from helping him work on cars I grew to enjoy fixing just about anything. My game playing came about with my first Atari 2600 and Asteroids. Now in my later age I still enjoy gaming and working on vehicles. Just glad to have my videos watched and channel grow. So that ended in a complete fail, I have ordered a new belt from Cloyes engine builders, I did still have the old belt so I checked the teeth count which I think was right since the old belt fit and it has more teeth than the new belt. Not sure what's going on with that but I will make a short video to show you a little later. On the other hand I am using good idler bearings from Japan since so...

This Denso Filter made in China is standard fair. It ticks a lot of the boxes for a standard filter. The filtration is very little at most, hopefully this filter works well anyways.

This is not a tutorial on how to install Subaru heads, it could be used on how not to install heads. It was a struggle through the whole process and when I got to the angle tightening sequence it was a complete gong show. My angle tool was not working right and I had to redu many of the steps. I finished off and that was it, I had enough of the cheap angle tool. Hopefully I installed it ok but ...

15K intervals are a horrible idea lol. I think they're made by Champ Labs. Amsoil, Royal Purple and VP Racing have the top 3 oil filters imo. And I've bought every avaliable brand for the car I own.
15k is definitely a pipe dream on filters, just not worth the risk.

I never had any issues with parts from Ultrapower, I believed they just reboxed parts from other manufacturers.

People on BITOG worry that their oil filter goes into bypass often. When cold, hard accel etc. I don't think that you would find as much crud in the bottom of the filter if it did. I think that it would wash back into the engine. Whadya think?
That's a very good comment, if the bypass opens then definitely there would be some unfiltered oil moving back through the engine. I don't think that the bypass opens as much as some believe. Today's oils are very fluid to move through the engine efficiently, takes a bit of pressure to open that valve.

Grampa sold 2nd oil filter add on. Slipped in TP ROLL screwed on compression fit. Worked great what 1969 TP then TP went soft and cuddly. Dads cane out a clayish mush. No more add on TP filters! Lol Coast to coast stores were fun back then.

This filter is $3.88 usd at Walmart right now. That's a decent filter at a darn good price. Those small holidays at the inner fiber endcap will be covered by the spring or faceplate. Also, I think that the people saying Fram ruined their engines are full of it. I wonder if some of them are even old enough to drive?🤔
From the used filters of Fram Orange Can I have opened up, I have found some bad things, mostly from filter being in use to long. But I also find bad things in other higher brand filters also. As always a filter has its limit no matter who makes it. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻
Might the bpv tab have broken when you poked the hole in the filter? I hope they don't get brittle with use.
I'm pretty careful with my hole puncture, I am guessing it was broken before hand.

I have noticed that filters sold in North America are almost always unevenly spaced, not so in Europe. I wonder why that is?
That is a good question, evenly spaced helps oil flow more even, when there is bigger spaces between pleats i believe oil will find more flow to the easiest exit which puts more stress on wider pleats. I could be wrong, but that's my idea.
@@crazybillsgarage I think your idea is correct. I also think there is a balance between filter area and how tightly packed the paper is. Lots of filtering area sounds good, but if it's packed too tight it will restrict oil flow. So where is the "bottleneck" ? Inlet, outlet, or somewhere in between ? And how will the flow change over time when the filter is trapping particles ?
@merakrut your ideas also sound good, I have opened many new and used filter and the ones packed to tight in an area seem to get less flow.

I was going to use the dealer but at $21 a quart I decided lucus would be just fine. The fluid worked fine and and is staying very clean.

@unclefreddieDied my original gasket was metal, so it came off really easy. Well at least I thought it was metal type gasket, maybe it wasn't original after all.

Hi Bill Thanks for creating that Video for us. I have a question for you… I live at the beach and the sea air gets on my windows and I’m always having to clean them. Do you think that this product would lay down a layer of protection?
I do think it would help but for how long I do not know. Salty environment may affect longevity of the product.
Denso already been previously contacted about it, reps claimed it is black silicone. So, it is what it is. Otoh, Thai Denso Toyota OEM with black adbv is actually silicone. Only black adbv proven to be silicone. Another sign of nitrile, telltale stink like burning rubber. Silicone, won't have that.
