Crazy how it's open to interpretation with certain people depending on differing schools of thought, but it's hard to deny that John Mayer was MEANT to live the life he has musically. Truly something to behold when you get to witness the fucking master class he puts on when he performs man.
As a drummer, I've been struggling with how best to play this tune and I'm so glad I inadvertently came across this. I'd been trying to play acoustic drums to an electronic record which doesn't always sound good - to my ears. It has everything in the playing that I wanted, but wasn't thinking of. Whoever this drummer is, I thank him! :)
kissmet they were a duet for a while, Sheeran’s not just some fanboy of John’s lmao. He hired John as a collaborating artist for this album I’m pretty sure.
john is breath taking, loved that ending solo, thus guy always cheers me up. i thought i was gonna have a bad day cause of a bad start in the morning, had a fight.....now it feels kinda good
I just want that rhythm section to do a full concert. I'd pay anything for VIP tickets. The drummer with the MONSTER groove, bassist who's locked in like his life depends on it and Mayer just absolutely RIPPING that rhythm guitar. OOOOF, it's rare to hear a pop song performed this tight
To all people arguing over who's better: This is music. Neither one is "better" or "worse". They're different people, with different styles of music, and they can coexist. This isn't natural selection people. Live and let live.
Yea but Mayer absolutely killed every aspect of his performance. Rhythm, backup vocals, and a blistering 8 bar outrro solo at the end. Not really a comparison

holy shit john's harmony was perfect. and the amazing guitar playing goes without saying of course
john mayer is my focus in this perform... is that normal?
you know, the posisition of john is just backing vocal right?
SAME BRO
John is up there with the most talented and gifted guitar players since Clapton and Hendrix were on the scene doing there thing. ed is not a guitar player. hes a singer songwriter who can play the guitar. huge difference. this performance is class. thanks to john.
he's so good he could pit in a boiler suit and mask and make slipknot better or he can play lilac wine with john legend and put goosebumps on our neck.
he's insane
Crazy how it's open to interpretation with certain people depending on differing schools of thought, but it's hard to deny that John Mayer was MEANT to live the life he has musically. Truly something to behold when you get to witness the fucking master class he puts on when he performs man.
John Mayer owns an entire 4.07 minute song with a 20 seconds solo.
I love how John says “Grammy nominee Ed Sheeran” like he was someone more important than him while he actually won various grammys
Damn John Mayer is some guitarist, incredible.
I only watch this video for John Mayer! He is absolutely beautiful
John Mayer.. You beauty. My goodness ♥️ thanks for making me listen to this 1200 times..
The background rhythm from JM from 1:29 on is just majestic
John mayer on falsetto and playing crazy shapes and grooves effortlessly what a legend
OK BUT IM SCREAMING WHY JOHN MAYER LOOKS SO GOOD HERE
that moment when you realize that John Mayer besides being a great singer and guitarist is still awesome in backing vocals
Wow mr john mayer and ed sheeran sir ! you are sugoi!!! KAWAII
OMG Ed Sheeran Ft. Clark Kent :0❤❤❤
Hahahaha Buenísimo el comentario
Ed-man V Superman
No that's just superman. He was too busy slaying he forgot to take off the glasses
Ed Sheeran ft. Elongated Man
hahahahahahaha I literally just roared at this comment! you sir, are HILARIOUS!
John's funky tone and playing added so much to the performance and the song. So great.
Haha everybody comparing these two, im just sat here thinking Fuck the drummer and bassist are killing it!
This is still my favorite version of this song. Everyone mixed so well
Props to John Mayer for singing that octave and playing that dope solo
these guys need to take over the world together. write an album and then go on an amazing tour
John is awesome!
Mayer took over this song while being completely humble in the background, wow
While everyone seems to be raging about the solo and the insane rhythm guitar (which I agree on) that snare sound is INSANE!! Like a whiplash
John is so humble for letting a fan play a song with him
ha
whose song r they playing?
oh right, the fan's
you know youve done sth right when u get mayer to perform with you.
kissmet they were a duet for a while, Sheeran’s not just some fanboy of John’s lmao. He hired John as a collaborating artist for this album I’m pretty sure.
@@computergenerated3833 OP probably didn't mean to call ed a fanboy but rather a lower tier person kinda thing. typical fangirling dumbfuck
lol a fan who just had the highest selling tour of all time, who I saw in the Superdome in New Orleans with more people in it than a Saints game
john is breath taking, loved that ending solo, thus guy always cheers me up. i thought i was gonna have a bad day cause of a bad start in the morning, had a fight.....now it feels kinda good
This is the only version of this song I can listen to. John should get in the studio with Ed and remake it. Be AWESOME.
There's a link from yahoo! news saying they made a collab in Ed's New Album.
Chrlrys Rys wow two of my fav artists who actually make good music, I really hope they did collab
They did. Ed announced that John will play guitar solo on his new Album. :D
it's John's solo in the song How Would You Feel from Ed's Divide album
more like make a whole album
Waouw John Mayer stuff is absoluty awsome !!!
A perfect example of how good john is as a rhythm guitarist.
John is using the most baffling rig I've ever seen for a clean sound... This man has a hot pick Jackson, Twin Reverb and a Soldano
best rendition of this song. Sheeran and Mayer crush it.
To all people arguing over who's better: This is music. Neither one is "better" or "worse". They're different people, with different styles of music, and they can coexist. This isn't natural selection people. Live and let live.
Yeah, Mayer is better
But Sheeran is really really good
Are you a Libra?
But music is a natural selection today. It's about War & Competition...
Yeah totally right, but John's better
Yea but Mayer absolutely killed every aspect of his performance. Rhythm, backup vocals, and a blistering 8 bar outrro solo at the end. Not really a comparison
I like Ed so much, but Jonh Mayer made this song so much amazing!
i think its my first time seeing a Jackson being played so Groovy, impressive
I come back to this at least once a year
John Mayer total master of that guitar!
the way mayer vamps off ed's vocal phrasing in the second verse is mindblowing.
Just one word: GROOVE!!!
How the hell have I missed out on this for this long! Literally hearing this for the first time! Amazing!
