This performance is a GOLDMINE for someone aspiring to be a soloist on guitar. His technique of mixing minor and major scales is nothing short of brilliant. Not to mention the licks, phrasing, and tone. Pretty damn special.
SRV and Hendrix would be proud.
I was actually thinking this is a goldmine to learn how to overplay the hell out of a song. And ALSO how to cop Hendrix licks that mix minor and major scales. Mayer's a great guitarist, but let's not pretend he came up with any of these licks.

@@Sixto_Marley haha that I have not been able to do. I know how to do it but it is so quick and precise and for me the solo is a bit fast paced so i just keep it in the bb box and get a similar sound.

learn coudnt stand the weather including the solo parts an that will help get you at the same tempo. If i didnt play alot of srv stuff I probably wouldnt have been able to transcribe this as quickly as i did

adam levine did purple rain, whats interesting and what id like to know is which one of these went first because i'd be willing to bet john went first because adams solo seemed a little force and way over the top .

One of the best all time performances. For? A 50's kid who listened to all of his Aunt's Dylan records on a small phonographs in the mid-60's.
I’ve seen his performances before and he’s one of my all time favorite artists and guitarists but this gives me a new found respect for him. this performance is killer!
