How to Make DIY Leather Bookmarks // Leather Project for Beginners

- Today we're showing you how to make a leather bookmark using your Cricut Maker and the Knife Blade! If you have an Explore Air 2, you can make this same project using the Deep Point Blade instead of the Knife Blade.
Cutting setting used: Tooling Leather - 2-3 oz (0.8 mm) was the setting. Definitely try it out first with your leather though and do test cuts first! :)

How did you get your blade recognized in design space? I calibrated mine and when I went to cut design space only allowed me to use the deep cut blade.
Great question! Thanks for bringing it to our attention- we just updated that description so we can help other crafters too! We used the Tooling Leather - 2-3 oz (0.8 mm) setting to work with the knife blade. Definitely try it out first with your leather though and do test cuts first! :)

I have a question, How durable/permanent is Cricuts gold foil iron on transfer material? Some I’ve used on leather peels off. I’m wanting to make a logo for leather with it. Thanks !
Happy to help! We don't have a ton of experience to say for sure, but even a year and a half later our bookmarks still look as good as day one! Hope that helps!

I really wanted to make these, but the Knife blade isn't an option when I choose Metallic leather as my material. Did you select a different material in order to use the Knife blade?

Question, did your maker give error in saying you need a rotary blade? I am trying to use the knife blade, but my maker/designspace, is saying to change blades to a rotary blade.. Which I don't have.. Can I still go ahead somehow?
Yes, you'll just have to adjust your cutting settings! What kind of leather are you cutting?
What pressure did u use for the metallic lesther?
We used the 2-3oz leather setting with the knife blade, but you can definitely just use the "Metallic Leather" setting and the deep-point blade instead!

Do you know if you can engrave on the cricut leather?
Yes, it can! :) we have had best success with designs that aren't too tiny and intricate.
