VIDEO Hey everyone! Welcome to the video!
Kicking off our first video taken in 2024, we are well underway with some awesome catches and some crazy weather we've seen over the past few weeks. With limited sunlight, many days were spent in cloud, fog or snow- all proving to yield some excellent and challenging filming conditions. 14:24 GetJet Airlines Boeing 737-8FE, LY-DUE arriving on RWY 23 as GJT9902 from Reykjavik. The flight would overnight at Signature North Lounge FBO before departing the next day to Managua.
16:01 Kaiser Air Boeing 737-7BX, N737KA arriving on RWY 24L from San Jose as KAI525 with the San Jose Sharks NHL hockey team onboard.
17:51 Air India Airbus A319-112, VT-SCB arriving on RWY 24L from Reykjavik as AIC6319. The flight would park at Signature North Lounge FBO before departing the next day for Marana to be scrapped.

Now that must be quite the de-icing bill! 🙂
While sitting in an A230 waiting to leave YYZ, an A380 was at the gate about to leave. Looks even more massive next to the terminal.

It’s a huge bird. And yeah the bill was big. They spent about 20-25 min in the bay altogether getting both the anti-ice and the de-ice fluid. There’s been sometimes where I’ve seen them spray and then they had to go back and spray again since by the time they got to the runway the snow became so heavy that they couldn’t depart safely.

Well done Ernest. Hard to believe that Air India 319 is headed for scrap. It looked like it could fly another 20 years but the wear and tear in the guts and the availability of parts tells a different tale eh?...

Ernest great video of aircraft taking off and landing at Pearson. Your amazing even in the snow recording footage for your subscribers. That was some deicing on the A380 on the leading wing edges. Been seeing smaller planes from Air India coming to Pearson recently for some reason, any idea what is going on? Ernest have a great week and catch you on the next flight.

Thanks! It’s coated with Type IV de-icing fluid before departure in the heavy snowstorm.

Correct. Type I deice fluid cleans the airplane, and in wx conditions like this Type IV is applied which has the consistency of jelly and slides off the control surfaces at speed.

Correct. The Boeing 737 was a ferry flight to Victorville for maintenance (it later flew back to India through the same way it came) and the Airbus A319 was one of two that ferried through on their way to Marana to be scrapped.

There are direct flights from India, Pakistan, always 777 -xxx. I guess we will very soon see the new A350-1000 of Air India in YYZ as they get deliveries!

De-icing, there is a dye in it so they can make sure it's where its needed

Actually it is anti icing fluid 😂! Anti icing, Type IV is green and deicing, Type I is orange.

Yup, in this scene they got both Type 1 and IV, which are the only two that are offered at Toronto Pearson.
