I would have loved if you had put them in 'moms basement','typical home','typical office','the surface of the sun' scenarios with a POV camera and played a video or a game. Because I really want to buy one of these, and this video just left me with more questions!
every time you turn on the g8, the settings bar pops up, when you close it, another pop up appears telling you how to open the settings bar again.. incredibly annoying. how can a product reach market like this? its baffling. I had to use colorControl to fake a certain controller input (the included minimalist controller doesnt have the required buttons) to open the hidden service menu, from there i disabled the settings bar auto popup.. every time a new firmware update is installed i have to do it again...
as a g80 owner, im still on the fence bout this...sometimes it annoys me like wtf and others times im like w/e and other times i don't notice because inbtween boot times/afking it's not noticable.
The Samsung has a God awful feature where a pop up appears telling you that you can use the remote to change inputs every time you turn on the monitor. Every. Single. Time. It's undismissable and impossible to get rid of. Just more of Samsung's awful bloatware (not including their awful tizenos "feature"). Buyer beware

So tired of companies not testing their products in real world scenarios. What’s worse is constantly ignoring feedback and never providing software updates.
Samsung might have feature advantages, but their quality control is atrocious - whether it's TV's or monitors. There's no way I'd spend high-end money on one of their displays without a rock solid warranty. And even then I'd be hesitant.

@ I’m having the same experience. The Samsung seems to get over saturated or has a really cold look but the colours are exaggerated… it’s odd I really can’t explain it. The Asus just looks more natural and realistic to me colour wise. Sometimes text on the Samsung seems a bit more crisp. Both are clear but the Asus just seems a tad more sharp.
If you haven’t bought one yet, but thinking about, just get the alienware. They’re the exact same coating and screen from the same factory and alienware is a bit cheaper. All this splitting hairs stuff is nice content for youtubers but practically irrelevant. The screen coating matters most and both are the same glossy.
@@chadwolf3840I actually bought both last week and returned the Alienware. For me, the difference was only $100 and I thought that was worth it for USB PD to easily hook up to my Macbook Pro. Other than that, they’re pretty much the same, so go by inputs, cost and whether you want a curve. That said, the curve was a non issue since it’s really subtle.
I just recently purchased the samsung g80sd on the right there and I have to say I hate it. The colors and OLED are super nice, don't get me wrong, but the whites are SUPER dull and gray. Browsing white background websites and google docs and the like is atrocious, even with all the tweaking you can do with the monitor, nvidia control panel and display settings for windows 11. At a $1000 USD price point you think you would get the best of both worlds? I'm really picky and accustomed to the super white backgrounds and bright scenes. Even if its artificial and not "accurate". I don't like when sunny days in games look like its raining and cloudy. I will be returning this and trying out this ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM.

I’m so stuck lol. These are my top 2. I’m not the fan of the OS on the G80SD, because I want a monitor and not a TV, and I wish it had a USB C like the Asus as I will be using it for dual Mac workstation and gaming Desktop. However, the ASUS looks too try hard with all the RGBs and edges.
I still think the Samsung one is the winner... I tried glossy Alienware but returned it as the reflections were super annoying. The Asus is very similar to all the other glossy panels so it's a fair comparison.
The matte coating is what made me pick the ASUS over the Samsung. I was waiting for the Samsung to come out since I have a Samsung odyssey Neo G7 that I like but I also have an LG C3 I use and it’s made it hard to go back to a matte screen.
It looks much worse in the video than it is in real life. It's actually a great coating, very clear picture yet no reflections. The better choice for brighter or changing environments 100%!

I’ve been comparing both at home as I got them both on sale. The Samsung is a couple hundred dollars cheaper in Canada when on sale. The Samsung isn’t bad but for some reason I just keep getting drawn to the Asus. I didn’t think I was a pro gloss screen person but something about it just seems better, even the way the colours present. I love that I can use the type c to connect my MacBook or charge my phone. Not a fan of the Asus stand but it is what it is. The Samsung build quality just isn’t there, the ports on the back press into the system when you connect cables and the unit gets super hot. Tizen is horrible on the monitor, even worse than on their tvs (also returned a S95D for a LG G4 partly for this reason). I’m tired of menus popping up on the Samsung, and the loading screen that hangs anytime the screen changes the signal source and resolution. When it gets up and running everything is fine, the colours seem over saturated but some people may prefer that. The speakers being built in are also handy. But I just can’t stand the menu system and it just seems so clunky having to grab the remote to back out of a pop up is incredibly annoying. The Asus is just an all around better unit, I wish these monitors were as bright as some of the flagship oled TVs, I get that they can’t… I digress. I don’t notice a lag input difference between the two at all. Reading reviews I thought the Asus would be horrible for my consoles but I’ve been playing cod and Wukong without any issues. Sometimes the numbers on paper, are just that… numbers on paper and it doesn’t really convert to any real life difference. For instance the Samsung S95D and LG G4 TVs are supposed to have similar input lag and smoothness… but the Samsung felt a tad quicker than the LG despite what the specs and number readouts posted online and in reviews. I digress again. Would I pay full price for these? No. I think Asus is the top dog for QOLED AND WOLED and their heatsink setup. I was close to checking out a comparable LG but I don’t like that it used a fan and is missing a type c port. I’m tempted to check out the other Asus ucdp(?) but I have zero use for the dual mode.

I would like to try the PG32UCDP however it's not on sale and these monitors are expensive enough. I enjoy the added features and also simplicity of the Asus and the gloss screen on the UCDM and I've never been a gloss screen snob ever... Just liked the image better even if the colours weren't as saturated as the Samsung.

VRR flicker is the biggest deal breaker for me. I would already have the Asus otherwise. I just can't bear that. People say it doesn't matter if you have a high-end computer because it just happens when your frame rate fluctuates. Come on!!! It's a 240 Hz 4k monitor. Of course the frame rate will fluctuate unless you have a 4090 and cap it to 60 fps. I play with a 4080 paired with a Ryzen 9800X3D and the frame rate always fluctuate in newest games especially the lowest 1%.
Have both monitors. Asus image is sharper in every way yet the monitor is sometimes crazy alot of vrr flicker even with vrr on. Some weird artifacts while gaming and the menu is so dump that is sometimes turnning things off makes them on afk stil the image is amazing and I could at some point replicate that on my g80sd Smasung on the other hand has this remot control which is a cool feature if you like to miss around with things image is very nice, you can do a lot of tunning on the Samsung, hdr is very nice still Dolby is better on the Asus colors on the Samsung are more pronounced* Samsung is smother though with less Flicker and no flicker what is so ever when vvr is on *one major problem when you switch from hdr to sdr on both monitors you have this crazy faint line right in the middle of the screen splitting the screen to two halves it goes immediatley away on the asus but on the Samsung it does not go until you switch input or miss with high contrast did some tests the samsung has a vertical banding on orange balck images I do not know if it is an issue with all unites or just mine. Can someone please test this I really love the g80sd more when it come to the practical side and white looks white on the Samsung on the asus more milky like white. Hope to hear about the issue from someone. Thank you for the great review Ratings.

It’s a very smooth matte. I have the G80SD as well as a LG CX OLED TV. The glossy finish on my TV is painfully bad with reflections that are extremely annoying. The matte on the G80SD is amazing at reflection handling and doesn’t hurt the picture quality.
Huh that input lag difference is quite big, i wonder why its so bad on the asus one. Considering its 4k u wont run it at max refresh rate at all time so here the difference is quite big and i think that 8.8 score is not well deserved
As long as you make use of the pixel cleaning and screen saver features you should be ok. I also got rid of my taskbar and desktop icons. Which is fine with me since I prefer the clean look better anyways.
let's be real, it's already been 3 generations of oled monitor panels, and many more generations of TV oleds. It's no longer such a big issue if you don't use it for 8 hours straight and mainly for office work. For gaming it's really not a big issue. Rcently bought an oled (the asus mentioned here) and overall the enjoyment from oled is a lot bigger than i believed it would be. Plus 3 years of burn in protection, so in 2 years if it becomes bad, you can replace it with a new one free of charge and enjoy a few more years of life. If you plan on using the same monitor for more than 7 years, then yes, don't buy an oled, buy a Mini-LED one instead

The ports on the back of the Samsung are loose and press in when you need to connect a cable. The monitor also gets super hot on the back.
I wish they made like a 36-38 inch version of their s90 or 95 but with monitor stand.Also a glass panel option for people who want max quality.

I have been doing a side by side comparison with these monitors at home and you’d be hard pressed to notice a difference with the input lag.

G80SD is superior because it can be unlocked via service menu. The Net power control limit samsung put these on HDR1000 mode is finally fixed.

They are both devices you can't be unhappy with except asus being almost 2x the price of samsung where I live

well here in slovakia it's 1100euro for the samsung and 1600 for the asus. Luckily i got the asus for 1000 euro so it was 100% worth it
@@Alextrinoto si ziskal perfektne. Po novom su ceny komplet v pici. Samsung 1200 a Asus cez 1700. Rozhodujem sa medzi nimi a netusim ktory vybrat z hladiska vykonu.
@@aceultimate4393 podla mna si este pockaj, hlavne v tento cas. Zachvilu je CES, oznamia sa nove monitory (najma 27" 4K verzie) a mozno tie stare zlacneju? Ak chces ale rozhonut medzi tymi dvoma teraz, tak podla mna je lepsi ten samsung za tu cenu (podla mna rozdiely su v hodnote tak 100 eur), ale taktiez ked som mal svoj stary samsung G7 (1440p, 27" VA panel), tak by som uz nikdy nechcel mat samsung, na nom mi casto vypadaval obraz tak na 2-3 sekundy a pri alt tabovani som cakal tiez aspon tak 4 sekundy. U tohto Asusu sa mi deje jedine obcas ten alt tab problem, ale aj to je uz o dostr lepsie, len na cca 2 sekundy a plus cely monitor potom nepreblikne plnym jasom
Matte oled is a buuuaaahh idea.
It’s a very smooth matte. I have the G80SD as well as a LG CX OLED TV. The glossy finish on my TV is painfully bad with reflections that are extremely annoying. The matte on the G80SD is amazing at reflection handling and doesn’t hurt the picture quality.
Huh that input lag difference is quite big, i wonder why its so bad on the asus one. Considering its 4k u wont run it at max refresh rate at all time so here the difference is quite big and i think that 8.8 score is not well deserved

About 3 years strong of no burn in. LG C2. Work on it all day 5 days a week and game all night more than 5 days a week lol!

As long as you make use of the pixel cleaning and screen saver features you should be ok. I also got rid of my taskbar and desktop icons. Which is fine with me since I prefer the clean look better anyways.
let's be real, it's already been 3 generations of oled monitor panels, and many more generations of TV oleds. It's no longer such a big issue if you don't use it for 8 hours straight and mainly for office work. For gaming it's really not a big issue. Rcently bought an oled (the asus mentioned here) and overall the enjoyment from oled is a lot bigger than i believed it would be. Plus 3 years of burn in protection, so in 2 years if it becomes bad, you can replace it with a new one free of charge and enjoy a few more years of life. If you plan on using the same monitor for more than 7 years, then yes, don't buy an oled, buy a Mini-LED one instead
