- I made a mistake because I was misled. I have discovered the scientific truth and in this video we share the truth about 3 omega fatty acids, DHA requirement and fish oil. I correct the recommendation of what is necessary based upon scientific evidence. We also provide some of the easy to understand science your doctor may be ignoring. Help them to know the scientific truth about how your body works.
Research Discussed...
Work by Dr Stephen Cunnane - Keto Brain and Dementia researcher. Instead of a single paper, go to PUBMED and type in his name and look at his publications. A wealth of scientific knowledge. We will be posting a discussion about his work on this channel soon.

Someone said, When a scientist tells you something now and tells you something different 6 months later, he didn't lie to you. He simply learned MORE. Dr. Cywes, you are a true scientist!
That is the difference between "the science" and 'Science'...hypothesis are not paraded as "facts" to mislead, but assumptions to be 'proved'.
I heard that just today vis-à-vis Covid knowledge.
He is not even close to being a scientist.
@@hamletsmill258 True, but I don’t think anybody claimed or eluded that he was a scientist. As a matter fact he is evaluating scientific studies, making recommendations as a practitioner.
@@songsabai3794 hypothesis are not paraded as "facts"
So called 'evolution', a hypothesis on history, is taught as "fact", sans evidence, in science classrooms, of all places. Thank you UNESCO Commies ...
I trust people who can genuinely say they made a mistake and forego their ego. Thank you Dr. Cywes for this video.
A doctor admits he was wrong and corrects his mistake for the benefit of his patients. Thank you, you are a great role model :-)
He is still wrong, though.
@@hamletsmill258 Oh! Perhaps you should tell him HOW and WHY he is wrong so that he can correct that as well :-) Just saying someone is wrong without telling them why isn't very helpful.
He’s still wrong... can’t wait for his next apology video
Christina ruclips.net/video/iJRk25EW_dk/видео.html
Here’s why he’s wrong
So how is he still wrong and about what is he still wrong?
As a cardiologist, I have revised quite a lot of my positions in a last few years (I hope for a benefit of my patients) because of some brave colleagues as Dr. Cywes is. Thank you sir!
This is so great to hear!!
I wish I could find a cardiologist like you!
Thank you Dr. You are awesome. I learn so much from you ❤
Oddly enough, "Dr." Berg, a scientologist AND a chiropracter, has the most firmly research-based take on fish consumption, regarding mercury, that I have seen on RUclips... and, I am able to be aware that this is the case because of my non-RUclips "research" into the clinical (on white lab rats, anyway) research... which, surprise surprise, the EPA has used to establish its consumption recommendations for various fish (instead of kow-towing to the seafood industry, such as it is). And, I have done enough "research" to suspect that Dr. Gundry, despite being an accomplished heart surgeon and a "real" doctor, is trying to fool himself or his prospective RUclips "customers", when he warns, in a video, against taking too many Brazil Nuts, and implies that he has consistently seen the selenium overload results in his clinic... cuz the dirty little secret about Brazil Nuts, as best can be google-gleaned, is that almost all of them these days come from the industrial growing region in Bolivia, which does not have the apparently-uniquely-low sulfur soil of their native Amazon, which supposedly caused 'em to uptake selenium instead of sulfur for a process there... wherefrom they were originally measured to have strong amounts of selenium... but, which the Bolivian industrial grown ones have been measured (which hasn't been very publicized, obviously) to run more towards one twentieth as much of... and, as such, should not be relied on to have enough - let alone too much - selenium. Fortunately there is a controlled-dosage capsule form of "dietary"/organic selenium available these days... should one know what it can allow you to get away with, when it comes to eating truly well. Speaking of which, Dr. Cywes, given that he is in Flarda, should learn that Mahi/Dorado/Dolphin, although it is low in mercury, since it grows like a crane bird [fastest of the fish], giving mercury less time-per-pound to accumulate... is also low in fat content... so he'd be better off in that regard eating the local Blackfin Tuna, which are gonna have significantly more DHA... but which (unlike Yellowfin Tuna of the same size) are gonna give you significantly more mercury than selenium... if one doesn't strategically self-supplement, in a safe amount. However, if Dr. Cywes reads this, I would guess that he can be counted on to do the research and figure out what I am on about. (Not gonna give it away!)
I'm thankful for you.
Honesty, humility & integrity...many others do not have it. You have it in spades, Doc! Keep up the great work!
I wish it were true.
@@hamletsmill258 Rather than posting nebulous, empty trash talk, why not actually support your gaslighting with what you believe?
Notes to self:
DHA & EPA (types/within OMEGA 3 )
One VERY key point: Starting just before/around 7 minutes..
AND THEN: ......starting at about 8 MINUTES =
1000mg of DHA per day used by BRAIN ALONE (body can maximum produce maybe only 20% IF "IF" you are eating ALL the precursors...) meaning =
MUST TAKE SUPPLEMENT EQUIVALENT ...&/or ... EAT way more RAW SALMON...
11:30 mentions Alzheimers
12:30 polycystic ovary/ovarian syndrome
14:00 measurable age of mild cognitive impairment DETECTABLE at an average age of 23 years old...
Correctable with a ketogenic/ketovore diet and supplementation...
15:00 = MINIMUM product/supplementation with a diet that has tons of fish in it...
...the "500 DHA" of "Now Brand"... has HALF the daily amount (so if you are eating less than 8 ounces of RAW SALMON per day, you would take double at LEAST...
The NOW brand "DHA 500" has a ratio of: 500 DHA to 250 EPA... (not sure what "ratio" is more important for anyone's situation - obviously he is talking about is FOCUSED specifically on DHA ...so that mat be a GREAT PLACE TO START!
Around 15:30 mentions his son takes it every couple of days...
In the "NOW brand" I found the "250 DHA" had better "other ingredients" than the "500 DHA" ...just means you take more of a smaller capsule size to equal ones needs, but "other ingredients" can REALLY make a difference if they are toxin/allergen/intolerant/irritant, etc...
I found "Nordic Naturals" "EPA XTRA" to be the VERY VERY BEST for the "other ingredients"... (they do make DHA XTRA" & they also make regular "Omega")...just check amounts to be sure you're getting BOTH EPA & DHA in amounts you want/need.
Keeping in mind the **ratio** in the product he uses is 500 DHA to every 250 EPA....
Bottom line..aim forat least: *1000mg of DHA daily minimum overall*
....
This is why I love you Doc C! You are more concerned with proper information than you are about your ego. Your heart is ALWAYS in the right place, and you ALWAYS want what’s best for your patients and audience, even if that means admitting you’re wrong. Science is ever changing and thank you for not being close minded and sharing information as you find it! This is why I trust you!
You're only human, Dr Cywes. Thank you for having the humility and courage to apologize publicly. Keep on learning. ~ Lisa
A true doctor keeps learning and keeps changing methods as the science is learned. He cares about patients over ego. He wants what is healthiest and best. He listens to his patients, doesn’t just talk about all he knows. He is a health partner. You sir, are a true doctor.
It's just called science doc... if you're not having to come back and correct things you believed in the past then you're making no progress.
We have no doubt you're giving us the best info you can find. keep it up!
I totally agree with everything you said, Let's go Brandon
This guy suggested relying on ALA conversions, which the human body converts very little of into EPA and especially DHA, and fish oil supplements, nearly all of which are sold rancid and break down into oxalates in the human body. He suggested 1000mg of this crap a day.
Now suggesting lots of fish, which unfortunately due to chemical plants and coal power plants have increasingly higher amounts of heavy metals can no longer be recommended as much as they used to be.
Stop taking fish and krill oil supplements, you also don't need fish at all, flesh and fat of large ruminant animals grazing their natural food sources are more than enough to cover your Omega-3's, e.g Grass-Fed cows. Correcting his earlier mistakes with even more mistakes.
@@infini_ryu9461 you're not getting 500mg of dha from grass fed cows. Maybe eggs from well fed hens. Specific smaller fish is great
Just eat one of them 3 oz can of sardines and you will get almost 1500 mg of Dha. It is not that complicated.
I buy them cans by the dozens. They are about $1. So basically, it ends up roughly $5/lb.
No cooking, no fuss, no mess.
. Bara bang bara boom.
Must I do a can a day??
Only, I can’t even open a can of sardines. I hate any kind of fish or seafood. So what do I do?
@@vickyburton2434hmmm how about grilled oysters? it shouldn’t be that bad.
Guys 1 can of cod liver which tastes just like canned tuna gives you over 10,000 mg of dha 🤯
A person that has never made a mistake has never made anything.
I appreciate when people admit mistakes and certainly more when its a doctor or other professional that ordinary people follow and trust for their lives to be the best that can be offered. Thank you Dr. Cywes.
Just listened to every word. And now watching all your other videos. Im 73, thin and good shape. Want to keep it that way. I live in florida, work and go boating. 😊
You mention MCT my friend is Fijian, she informed me that Fijians have very little alzheimers why coconut oil ,medium chain Triglyceride.
You know that knowledge should always be adjusted when new light is shed on something. You did good Dr. Cywes, it is refreshing to see your humility. Thank you.
Mad respect for a scientist and physician who continues to follow cutting edge research and pass that on to his patients! You've always been a straight talker, and we see you do what's best for not just yourself and your family, but also for your patients and your SM followers. We know we can trust you.
Dr. Cywes how many doctors would ever apologize to their patients? None would ever apologize. You are the best, most knowledgeable Doctor I follow on RUclips. I cured my metabolic syndrome and took charge of of my own health by following people like you. My keto journey started eight years ago. I’m 70 and can run circles around people half my age. My peers don’t take me seriously when I tell them sugar is poison, but I will have the last laugh. Thank you for all you do.
Dr E Westman of Duke University tearfully apologized for not understanding 25 years ago that SADiet didn't work
Prof Tim Noakes apologised too. Continues to do so.
Dr Ken Berry has apologized to his patients and those who follow him on RUclips.
It just shows that these doctors are real.
@@ajalicea1091 What did he apologize about?
I gave up fish oil awhile back and now eat 5 to 7 days a week wild caught cold water fatty fish such as sardines, herring , markerel or muscles. I eat the fish with my eggs for breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Occasionally if I can get wild caught salmon I'll have salmon. If for some reason I miss my fish I will take fish oil.
As a child I grew up on sardines. My mother preferred I ate sardines for my afternoon snack rather than junk food.
Perfect
Unfortunately for people with a history of gout, sardines and herrings are one of the biggest triggers because they have huge amounts of purines. So what I do is to get fish oil which give the healthy fats while removing the proteins that trigger gout. I'll just make sure that the supplements I take are high on DHA. I can also eat salmon that doesn't have high level of purines
I am excited to have booked an appointment with Dr Cywes to evaluate my health and to work on Hashimo’s!😊
Thank you James behind the camera!
Thank you Dr C. This confirmed my supplement regime. Up until 2 years ago I was taking fish oil capsules which helped alleviate my joint pain which plagued me for years, but as I got older, they were less effective. Switched to Cod Liver Oil, 10 to 15 ml every morning, 2 years ago. (The brand I use has a slight orange flavour!!) This gives me 500 to 700mg of DHA and about 1000iu of vitamin D3, daily. I am 72 yo- was diabetic, now have no joint or back pain, and my improvement in mental clarity is palpable. Also eat herring, sardines etc about twice a week.
I would love to know what brand Cod Liver Oil you use. If it works for you, I would like to give it a try.
@@LatahAshford I use Melrose brand, (in Australia), Cod Liver Oil Health and Vision. It has a slight citrus flavouring added, to make it more pleasant to take- although your taste buds get accustomed to the taste after awhile. It is an average price brand so there may be better quality ones out there. It should not be hard to find a quality brand in your country.
“I now have better evidence” you gotta love this guy!! Thank you Doc;
you deserve our trust ❣️
13:42 The young women with cognitive impairment were vegetarians? and needed highly absorbable nutrients from fish and meat?
13:42 when will veg etarians admit that one of the most absorbable nutrient dense foods is beef, especially liver.
6:53 He says his mistake was recommending DHA precursors and krill oil for DHA. It is better to eat fish especially salmon which he eats now.
Thanks to great Dr. Cywes. I take absolutely no supplements and staying healthy for decades now. Just eat variously and remind what your ancestors had eaten.
Dr Paul Mason from Australia has stated that all fish oil type products are already oxidised by the time you take them and are thus pro inflammatory. Appreciate your opinion on this. Ta
I have always wondered why Dr. Cywes is pushing the supplements, especially with growing evidence that they don't work.
I believe I have seen others, not just Paul, describe fish oil products as useless if not outright harmful. It's basically a modern snake oil product 😂
I eat a can of sardines in spring water 3 - times a week. Not perfect but not a “ product” either.
From another South African here in Florida and I love your videos and I have referred some of the patients I deal with to your work and videos. Finally the truth is comming out about food!
Dr. Paul Mason, a doc I highly respect, tested a number of Omega supplements and found almost every single brand was rancid. Ugh! I went directly to my freezer and threw away about $200 worth of DHA supps. I will gladly take your new advice today, but I am nervous about oils because of their potential for being rancid. Also, from all that I have read on this subject Omega 3 supps should be kept in the freezer or refrigerator.
Use cod liver oil. Keeps on counter a month with not turning.
At least the brand I highly recommend- Green Pastures. Very pricey. Worth every dime.
@@YeshuaKingMessiah About 2020, I bought Green Pastures cod liver oil capsules and noticed they used to burn as they went down throat to stomach. Then saw lots of controversy online that that brand was ALL rancid. Please keep your bottle in refrigerator too!
@@redhotz21
I’m well aware of the debate. I’m still on the side of it being an excellent CLO.
We go thru a bottle in a month. Never had it go bad. Less ppl in ur house, keep it in fridge.
The caps are waaay too pricey for us. We take the combo formula (w/high vitamin butter oil) in liquid form. We each take 1tsp a day. More if we’re sick. VitA or liver itself is very good for illness.
Keeping you in my prayers and hoping things don't go that way. My grandmother had Alzheimer's and I don't wanna go out that way either. ❤
Increasing seafood also increases the ingestion of microplastics and mercury though :(
Sardines are too small to have much contaminant. It's the bigger fish that cause concern
I absutely love your approach, knowledge and I really benefitted from it-Greetings from SOUTH AFRICA!
You're a good man and I appreciate your integrity. Admitting mistakes is not easy. Thank you.
Proud that you come from SA.
Like your videos. I am from Namibia.
I wish certain politicians would admit that they were wrong when they got more information. Thanks for doing this.
Huge thanks DR Cywes for your educational informative videos. I'm 75+ year's old - with history of 3MIs with stenting. Cardiologist suggested Statin only. I take myself Cod liver oil and capsules of CO q 10…
I have a strong memory and balance. Like to learn New things. I learned how to drive a car almost at 70 years old.
thanks for being a great Dr. we all make mistakes.
Follow a lot of Dr Cywes but just came across this video in the last week or two. Went out yesterday and bought DHA and new to ger the right dosage from this. 960 per dose.
I've been taking Cod Liver oil for several years now but obviously not enough DHA in it it now seems. More seafood for me now. I love Salmon but honestly the supplemental form of DHA is cheaper.
Dr Perlmutter recommends the same, 960 DHA per day.
Glad to see agreement on an important brain nutrient.
The reference to the APO4e is crucial.
I appreciate your integrity. This is a common occurrence - learning more, understanding something more thoroughly - but our docs and experts don't always admit it - due to fears of liability etc. I think sharing what you now know increases trust and credibility. Your videos have helped me a lot. Thank you!
I take Carlson purified cod liver oil. One TBS has 1,000mg of DHA. It's a bit pricey though. The NOW brand softgells are a much better buy.
Wow! This doesn't happen very often. Thanks for your integrity and honesty Doc. I just stumbled on to your channel and absoutely love it.
It takes courage, professionalism , humility and ethics to admit a mistake and for that you have my respect. I believe I was a victim of malpractice. I had breast cancer, double mastectomy and the doctor told me not to worry about radiation and medication to keep the cancer from coming back, I trusted her and not even 2 years later the cancer came back, AFTER MASTECTOMY, aggressive, on the same spot where it was primarily. She never admitted that it was her poor judgment or lack of skills.Keep the good work Doc👏👏👏👏👏
The good Dr. C is someone I watch every day and make sure I see all of his videos. I always learn something from him. This country would do well if everyone here watched his videos and practiced what he preaches. I know I do, and am thankful that we have him.
Very glad I found you on Y-tube. thanks for your time.
Doc, I wish to God that the professional societies out there that we Americans rely on for updated medical info were 1/1000 as honest, responsible and conscientious as you are. No need to apologize.
I actually started LCHFIF only July 29, 2024 of this year and currently on episode 50 of your blogs. I actually jumped on some episodes, this for one. Let me say, thank you Dr. Robert Cywes for your honesty and humility. You are one of my influences in making decisions of my health and well-being. God bless you!
It is because you are willing to continually learn and update your current beliefs that I will ALWAYS follow you!
Live this Dr. He stays on top of things!
Great stuff doc.
You and Dr Shawn Baker are beacons of truth.
Love that you can admit to your mistakes, but more importantly that you get back to us regarding the truth of the matter.... Keep up the good work Dr. Cywes and you will always have my support.
You are so honest, human and I admire you, I try to follow your good advice, and at 70, I hope it’s not too late for me to try to eat salmon, which I hate along with tuna. I love other seafood, but can’t afford the ones I love,eg, prawns crayfish and scallops very often. I will give it a go . Thankyou., from Perth, WesternAustralia.
I have the utmost respect for a doctor who has the humility to admit that they have a mistake than to go on and not address that mistake. Thank you Dr. Cywes for making this video and the opportunity to learn more.
Thank you for the updated info. I have been taking extra Omega 3’s with CoQ10, as a migraine prophylactic, for years. Just checked, total DHA 750 mg. We like fish, but don’t eat it as often as we should. Glad my bases are covered 👍😃
I’ve been suffering migraines for 4 years and trying all kinds of diet and lifestyle changes to identify the cause and find relief, so far without success. I suspect it may be associated with menopause. I haven’t heard of taking Omega 3s with CoQ10 before. What is the connection to migraines? Where did you find this remedy?
My 35 year old doctor continues to support the low fat ,fruit model. Does not really treat the cause of my type 2 diabetes. I am 71 years old and still learning. Quadruple bypass, reformed alcoholic, low carb/ keto convert lost 55 pounds, 10 more and I will be, and stay , at my high school weight. Carb addicted ! Wonder how much that affected my alcoholism ? How much did that damage my blood vessels. NEVER too old to learn. Thank you - you are adding quality years to my life.
Great job Doc, thank you for caring enough and correcting the info
WOW!! This is a doctor you can trust!! I haven't come across one of those in a very long time! In fact, I'm 73 years old and I've not seen a doctor in at least 30 years! When I learned about nutrition in my very early teens, I compared what I knew to what physicians know, I dropped them altogether and learned to keep myself healthy. I've been on the ketogenic diet since BEFORE it became popular and just in the past year have been on the carnivore diet. I am able to do everything that folks my age can't do. In fact, I can still turn multiple cartwheels in a row as I did as a teenager. I LOVE THIS DOCTOR! Maybe I'll go back to seeing doctors if they all learn the basics of life as he has done. Kudos to Dr. Cywes!!
My wife is 56 and I think she has some alzheimer symptoms, and severe PCOS. She has some signs of insulin resistance and refuses to go Keto. She has been eating a bit healthier but she does forget things and repeats herself. She has been taking some suppliments I gave her, but these 500 mg DHA might be good for her.
In my late 40s I had terrible brain fog and started to forget things and what I'd said to people. At first, I assumed it was a sign of early menopause. It got so bad that one day I couldn't find my keys to get into my house. I ended up breaking in. I found the keys the next day. Where I'd put them. Looking back, I also had many signs of insulin resistance but didn't understand back then. I was on a 'healthy' low fat, high fruit, veg, beans and whole grains plant based diet. When my dentist diagnosed severe gum disease, I discovered Weston A Price and fell down the low carb rabbit hole. Within weeks of going animal based low carb, I got my brain back. 2 years on and I won't eat any other way. Show your wife this video by a GP treating her own husband. Once she understand she has 'diabetes of the brain', and she is basically starving her brain to death, the penny may drop. Good luck.

I have been taking Omega-3 fish oil, AlaskaOmega brand. I get at least 540 mg a day. A 5 star certified fish oil. Wild Alaskan Pollock fish. Thank you for your candid honestly. Most don't acknowledge their mistakes! 😊 Much care, from Nebraska, USA.
I had PCOS in my mid 20s until about 34. This explains a lot for me. I don't think the doctors knew anything about it then. I'm in my mid 60s now. I've always been health conscious and doing ok but I now see where I can make improvements. B12 helps also. Thank you.
If your following a heavy meat diet specifically red meat you normally have no need to supplement b12.
I have a tablespoon of cod liver oil each day which is supposed to have about 500mg of DHA. I also eat tinned tuna and sardines and would eat more fish if it wasn't so expensive.
i think it’s fantastic when we can admit we were wrong. in this case it’s simply a matter of not having enough information. Oprah once said, “when we know better, we do better.”. thank you, dr Wes for doing better.”.
I wouldn't quote Oprah 🤮
Wow I am low low .I'll boost mine thankyou for correcting this .
Appreciate you doing this .
I would not do farm fish , they do not feed them as they should . Feed them crap .need to research that Doc .
If you don't eat fish, you can get DHA and EPA in lamb, beef, egg, game meat and poultry. Red meat (beef, lamb, veal) and pork have at least 30 mg of DHA and EPA per serve (100 g). Why supplement if you can eat REAL food?
Not enough
Esp. If you have the ApoE4 allele
You cant always get enough. I also have the ApoE4, with a mom with dementia.
Cod liver oil is real food
Pleade dont buy meds where you cannot see the composition. Many are like that..but you must know what the body needs as Dr Cywes is telling us.. HOpe more of these..
A true scientist admits mistakes...it's one of the ways scientific knowledge improves 👏👏👏
Thank you, thank you. You are such a good person, humble and honest.
My Omega 3 supplements:
Cyto-Max
1400mg Fish oil per soft gel
EPA 700mg
DHA 350mg
Source:Wild deep sea fish (anchovies, sardines, salmon)
2 soft gel 1-2 times per day.
I take 2 per day.
I have a similar Alzheimer history in my family and I totally agree with you acknowledging the importance of fish in the diet .well done.
I’ve been following various experts over the years and Dr. William Davis is one who certainly feels krill oil is a poor choice. He did a post on his blog in May 2013 and wrote: “The phospholipid form of DHA found in krill is also well absorbed, but occurs in such small quantities that it is not a practical means of obtaining omega-3 fatty acids…” He also makes a point that the triglyceride form of DHA, the form found in fish, is what you want to look for in a capsule. Many formulations in capsules use an ethyl ester form of DHA, which is 3 times inferior when it comes to absorption.
Dr Davis rocks
I read back in the 90s ester form of anything is inferior.
So refreshing to find a doc who is not too arrogant to admit mistakes!
Thank-you, Rob. My respect for you is stronger than ever. I appreciate the ferocity of your integrity.
Thanks so much.
Thank you Dr. How your take about Professor Brian Peskin about oxide Oxide Fish oil ?
Thank you Doc for keeping up with the science and letting us know. I didn't realize how important DHA was to the body. I will be getting those supplements and eating more fish.
I love and respect your wisdom and humility doc x
This is why we love you and trust you Doc! You are honest, you are real and there is no pretending and trying to bullshit around.
Thanks. I have also found some companies do not give the correct amounts of magnesium stating 1000ml but that is only the carrier. I really appreciate your talks as they are very revealing.
All good Doc. Thanks for the update. I resisted the krill because I didn't feel like humans would naturally eat it. Are you not worried about contaminants in fish?
People who can admit their mistakes , talk about , and correct them easy and quick are consired the best and the.most WISE ,CLEVER and TALENTED in the word .( I have use here my own interpretation of a famous. BRILLIANT saying: " A clever person is NOT ONE WHO does not do MISTAKES , as we all do mistake and pretty often :)) , but the CLEVER ONE is a person who :

I eat canned sardines and stopped supplementing DR, another thing I came across is Vit A toxicity ( krill oil has high vitamin A)and having cholestitis I don't metabolize toxins or Vit A well and I am more mindful of high Vit A foods now. Please will you make a video on Vit A toxicity? When I used to eat liver I would start to feel unwell and that's when I started digging and found out.

Hi Dr your videos have been a great help. Been a T1D for 73 yesrs. Insulin is killing me. Now i have cut insulin dosage by half, carbs down to nothing and sugar well never touch it.
I crave salmon ever week! I’m going to start incorporating it and other seafood more each week. Good to hear and I will be listening to those healthy cravings! Alzheimer’s runs in my family as well.
there is a strong correlation between Alzheimers and diabetes / pre-diabetes. Stop eating carbs if you are concerned about Alzheimers.
John West brand Wild Scottish Sardines in springwater, 110g, 1130mg DHA per 75g serve 😘 Gratefuly received in New Zealand, where we don't appear to have sardines in all the ocean that surrounds us🤔
Thank you, thank you Dr. Cywes for all you do to help us and for this valuable information!
I hit the like button 13 Trillion times. I am 79 days into my no coffee or caffeine journey. I thought I was doing the carnivore diet right. For some reason I had to switch my water filter cause it was not working. It was supposed to filter tap water through a stone and other rock and sand and come out alkaline or pure and this last filter was messed up and had to throw it all out. I had been doing this for ten years. Then I got distilled water since that is what Dr Berry drinks and that isn't working. So I will have to see that the spring water does. That might bounce away, since it's "spring" water. I have been swelling in my ankles and top of my feet. I do sit a lot while I am watching my great aunt who is 97. I do a lot of computer work in my room. None that I get paid for. I am trying to get into the computer field. I also just turned 50. My body is changing again. I am stuck now wearing compression socks as then new accessory to my life. If I get some cool colors then people will say cool socks.
Dr. Cywes, thank you for your humility. You are a wonderful example of integrity in your work, and what a great take home point to everyone, no matter what profession or station in life. We don't know what we don't know, but when we learn, we do better... and it is lifelong.
what a breath of fresh air you are Doc. Over the last 4 yrs I have lost a lot of respect for Drs, you can guess why. I am untaxed
appreciate your willingness to change...the mark of an actual scientist and my basis for trusting you...now i am curious why you didnt mention sardines in this video?..they have 1700 mg of omega threes in a tin but i imagine you would say thats too much? or possibly the dha ratio is off? i was always told they are a great source of omega 3...what say you?
Thanks for the lesson on DHA. I am going to the fridge now to see how much is in my fish oil.
Thank you for the correction. It strengthens your integrity. I had learned from other keto docs that krill oil was inadequate. As excellent as Dr. Cywes is and other keto docs are, I have to watch 6 or more of them to get a full picture, including the chiropractic keto docs. And just as Dr. Cywes has to keep learning, I know I have to keep learning too. Along with a cut of beef, I eat fish every day, choosing from a selection of frozen salmon, canned salmon, canned sardines, and canned cod livers. So far, so good.
I am lucky we get a very high omega 3 fish here in Arusha. Also, sardines that also have bones give you a lot of bone minerals.
Thank you for more on this video. The medical system has had a bad habit of forgetting they need to be humble, dynamic, and the realization that they (as well as we all ) are not infallible. You are a treasure!
My grandmother was nearly a vegetable from Alzheimer's by her early 60's.
My mom took steps to reduce her risk starting in her 50's, but isn't willing to take the extra steps i tell her. She is now in her early 70's and is mild to moderate impairment.
I started in my mid 30's with keto, but adapted to what works for me.
Lowish carb, 16-20hr daily fasting, and low omega-6 PUFA diet, has cured my:
Sleep apnea
Bipolar
Allergies
Asthma
Mild ED
Arthritis
Chronic pain
I plan to avoid all cognitive impairment, and am having great success with the rest of my health.
In the same boat. Thank you for sharing
"mild to moderate impairment"
Which means Alzheimer in quite a late stage. You need to start when you are young.
But on the other hand, have you tried to put your mom on the KD too? It's never too late...
A
Well remember to supplement B12 then.
@@binathere2574 I have plenty of B12 from my diet.
I avoid processed foods and eat sufficient animal products.
If anything I'd have a methylated folate issue, due to being a single carrier is a mutation affecting this, but that's fine since elimination of bipolar meds years ago, and my dietary changes.
Thank you for passing on your new knowledge! Will increase my seafood consumption!
I thought Krill Oil supplements are supposed to cross the blood-brain barrier much more efficiently and so that's why it's ok if it has far less DHA/EPA because your brain gets to use it immediately.. So this may require some further looking into....But honestly I'm happy to hear this information, cause those supplements are NOT CHEAP! I wanna know I'm getting something really effective. Thanks so much for your help! ❤️
Thanks for the correction. I am so glad I finally got to this video. I eat sardines almost daily, thinking I would get enough omega 3 from my diet. But now I will supplement. I am 80, and SO DO NOT WANT dementia.
Dr. Cywes, please address the problem of sourcing DHA for those of us who are allergic to fish and seafood.
You can get DHA from a particular algae.
You're so genuine Dr. A genuine person admits their wrongs and corrects those wrongs.
