Hearing her voice on this recording, aged 103, is very moving. She was still sounding great when she was singing in her 70s .
The date is June 18th 2020. I listen to this with sorrow on hearing the news that the wonderful Dame Vera Lynn passed away this morning at the grand old age of 103. R.I.P to a national treasure, you will be greatly missed XxX

As she said, we will meet again.
There is a group of girls keeping her same energy and spirit alive, they are called the D-day Darlings. They sing a lot of her songs dressed with the same style makeup and clothing as 1930-40s women. They have gone around singing for WWII veterans to make them feel like they’re young again.

I used to deliver stuff to dame Vera what a truly lovely lady she was as was her husband, during the winter months she would always make me a cuppa and put a large whiskey in it, she was so natural and kind and graceful

As a flight attendant this got me through a rough year. I fear it might happen again but I’ll always have this. And sing it to my colleagues. We’ll meet again some sunny day.

It's because different people have different tastes and wish to express them. Your intolerant and ignorant comment on others freely expressing their opinion on something artistic or cultural undermines the whole ethos of what this country went through to preserve when this song was in it's heyday.
Just read dame Vera Lynn has passed away this morning. So sad! Such a legend. Thoughts are with her family.
I met Vera Lynn a number of years ago on an Air Canada flight. Charming woman. I remember her singing this in the war years and it was a favourite of my mother who I’m sure thought of my father when she sang. Sadly Dad never came home. He went down with the sinking Benalbanach off the coast of Africa. Dame Vera was sorrowful hearing of that. Great lady !

It was also played at my grand mothers funeral, its the first time I've listened to it all the way through in 5 years, utterly unbearable until now, the memories and the tears came flooding back...

That classic song meant so much to so many during that great struggle called WW11. I have always been a great fan of Vera Lynn! Her contribution to the performing arts is priceless! So many GI's were emotionally lifted by her lovely songs during the war's darkest hours! Her uplifting message played a vital role in restoring pride and hope to the Allies during the war! God Love Vera Lynn! RIP fine lady, you will be sadly missed by so many, but never forgotten!

A wonderful tribute to an extraordinary human being. Living to the ripe age of 103 ( wow what an innings) having passed away today 18 June 2020. We love you and will always love you as we travel forward in our lives. Your legendary performances will never die, they will only continue to inspire human beings to dream and believe, we WILL meet again.

We, my husband and I, send our love and thoughts to all those in the UK who might be frightened, grieving, worrying...as so many of us are and have been since January. We also thank those artists who participated in this video, from their homes. It is such a moving song, already, from WWII, I believe, but being in this invisible war, makes it all the more moving as it drives the point home that we must have hope, no matter what happens in the near future. I was blessed to be able to perform this song and several more with Dame Vera Lynn at the Melbourne Australia Concert Hall in October 1989. It was for a Tribute to Weary Dunlop, the doctor that saved so many lives in Burma at the Changi prison camp during WW2 where Dame Vera had performed. Over 2,500 people attended - the capacity of the Hall - and raised an astounding amount of money for the Weary Dunlop Foundation. I cried all the way through this. She is an amazing talent and beautiful woman.

OK Now you got me I can't stop crying. Vera Lynn was an idol to my Dad WWII RAF Veteran Alfred Howard. He passed in 2018 @ aged 96. This was so beautiful. THANK YOU
