    I like the filter placement, piece of cake compared to some others

      You can pre fill the oil filter without any spilling in this position. IIt cuts the dry start up time down to nothing if you prefill

  • @ChicagoRob2

    Good tutorial. Would like to see the filter pre-filled with oil, which will allow the engine to pressurize the bearings, etc., immediately upon startup. BTW, the Microgard filter is very high quality. Another good one is Premium Guard, which I believe is made by the same company. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Mazda OEM.

    Thanks for putting the video together! Nice summary of oil change.
    Other tips for owners: Maybe check for leaks before installing the oil filter and drain plug access panel. Also agree with pre-filling the filter with oil. Don’t forget to reset service interval once complete, which is pretty easy as well.

    How do you reset the miles after servicing your car? You know how your car will tell you “Service Due Soon”?

      Take off the negative battery cable for about a minute or two, put it back on and everything should reset.

    • @RunningMoose357
      @RunningMoose357 9 месяцев назад +13

      Taking the negative battery cable of is not the way to do this. The correct way is through the vehicle's infotainment system menu. Use this path through the menu to reset it: Information > Vehicle Status Monitor > Vehicle Maintenance Settings > Reset Service Interval > Reset.

    you recommend new drain plug or just new gasket for that drain plug?

    • @GEARMOAUTO
      @GEARMOAUTO  Год назад +3

      Both, unless you can get the drain plug gasket off the drain plug. The thing with Mazda is the drain plug gasket is a crush type and over time it seems to fuse through osmosis to the drain plug making it very difficult to replace. Honestly though you will probably be fine reusing the same drain plug. Especially if you can get the gasket off and replace it

    • @FC1Boosted

      You can get just the crush washer. If not at the dealer (best route since it's cheap and exact part needed), then auto parts store usually sell an assortment of washers for $5-6 per pack.

    hello sir, you dont tighten using tools the oil filter?

    • @FC1Boosted
      @FC1Boosted 2 месяца назад +4

      No, never tighten with a tool. It can become extremely difficult to remove next time. Add some oil to the o-ring at the top of the filter. Hand tighten till snug, then go another quarter turn, all by hand.

    Nice video. Why you seem to intentionally put your fingers to cover up "toyota oil" :-). Hey they have a relationship with Mazda it's all good. Just bought a 24 CX-5, paperwork said toyota credit, I was confused as heck.

    Nice tutorial for beginners who need to learn.. much appreciated. However, I’d recommend to most owners to use Mazda specific premium synthetic oil or another brand of OW-20 as these cars are very sophisticated and touchy if you don’t adhere to everything in its notes exactly. Nonetheless this was a job well done and it’s now a happy car for sure. I’d also recommend getting all servicing and maintenance done at certified Mazda centers as like I said before the complexity of these Skyactiv engines are best suited for trained Mazda professionals but for people who don’t want to spend the $180 at the dealer, this is a very beneficial demonstration on a more cost-effective option.

    • @christianbryant5617
      @christianbryant5617 4 месяца назад

      @@ephektz I didn’t know about that. I’ll have to look into that.. however the viscosity difference might impact performance and fuel efficiency but if it says it’s ok to use it in the manual I’m sure it’s good
