    Wow, thorough job. Looks fantastic. We just got one off the curb during junk pickup day in our neighborhood and are restoring. (Except we are doing a more basic, minimal restoration). Thanks for the video!

    The Gray performer is the one I have yet to own- maybe I will get lucky and come across one. Love your shop and all the cool
    Cabinets. Shelby poster makes one wonder - what’s under the car cover. Great video and she came out beautiful

    Great work. You have inspired me to restore my blue Gen 2. I've got a crack / puncture in the thermoset table. No idea how I will fix that.

    • @barbecuebuild2642
      @barbecuebuild2642  3 месяца назад

      Glad to hear that. You don't have to fix you can replace it with a new steel one. I know they are not cheap but it will last the rest of the life of the grill.

    I bought a used one that was manufactured in 2015. The bowl's interior wasn't that dirty but the nuts and washers are rusted. The gas burner tube was caked on with grease and ash but I managed to clean them off with heavy duty degreaser. The front-end of the burner tube facing the center of the kettle looks rusty even with a lot of scrubbing. I am not sure if that is baked on grease. Will try Easy Off oven cleaner. If that doesn't work, I will soak it in Evapo Rust. Where do you get stainless-steel bolts, washers and nuts to replace the original ones? Thanks!

    @pauloabelardo5178 Год назад +1

    Hi! What did you use to soak your ash catcher and sweeper? Thanks a lot!

    • @barbecuebuild2642
      @barbecuebuild2642  Год назад +2

      Dawn Ultra dish soap. After soaking sweeper it was rusty so I soaked it overnight with Evapo-Rust, then took the power wire wheel to it and that's what brought it back to a like new look.

    How did you get the aluminium parts so clean and shiny?

    • @barbecuebuild2642
      @barbecuebuild2642  10 месяцев назад

      Mother's aluminum polish and a lot of work hand polishing.

    I guess mine must be a first gen. Where do you find parts for those? I need a new table for mine. That one looks like it’s about the same size and everything.

    • @barbecuebuild2642
      @barbecuebuild2642  Год назад

      Fiber glass tables are not available any more. You can get a new steel table from Weber or the BBQ parts store online.

    So how did the top part get black when it was right on the metal ?

    • @barbecuebuild2642
      @barbecuebuild2642  Год назад

      That isant rust on metal. It's many, many years of smoke and cooking buildup that I scraped and cleaned off to reveal the black porcelain underneath.

      It depends on the color & condition. Weber kettles have a collector following. Some vintage Performers & Kettles have high values. Black is the most common color and would have the least value.
