If you want a challenge, try assembling one of these grills ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I am a technician by trade and the technical instructions were easy to follow. No reading, just pictures and diagrams. You assemble everything in 5 steps from the bottom up. Step #1 - Assemble 4 Legs and Wheels; Step #2 - Add the Front Cover and Cross Bars to support the frame; Step #3- Assemble the Burner to the Lower Grill Housing and install the knobs; Step #4 - Install the Side Burner and side shelf; and Finally Step #5 - Install the Upper Char- Broil Lid, Cooking Racks, 3 Burner Railings and Lid Handle. That's It and you're done in about 2 hours and 40 minutes. You have the option to pay for assembly after making the purchase - I would strongly suggest that you take it if you don't want to be bothered with this challenge. The only tool I used was a Phillips head screwdriver and a standard pair of pliers. The grill cost a little more because of the side burner, but this is what makes the grill so versatile and popular among backyard grillers. Have fun and enjoy!
Mine’s going on 16 years old and in perfect condition. Key is to constantly keep in covered when not in use and perform a once a year thorough cleaning.
Hell, I live in the PNW and and have had my Performer since 2007... it's had a cover *maybe* half that time. :) Still in great shape. I think I've thoroughly cleaned it 3 times.
Ive had mine since 2012 (got off Craigslist for $125) I've always kept ot covered and it still looks nearly new. How do you define deep clean? I've just always kept up with a grill brush and wipe it down with every use (nearly anyway).
I've had my performer for 12 years now and I agree. The most important tip I would pass along is to never leave old ashes in the kettle. I have a cheap whisk broom which I clean all ash out with. I leave the lid on with all vents open and never cover. Outside, in the northeast year-round and never have a problem with mold or rust. If ash isn't cleaned out it attracts and holds moisture which will cause problems.
I got my Performer Deluxe Grill at ACE too. I still use the chimney though to start my coals. I put the chimney over the gas outlet with the charcoal in it, fire it up and let it get the coals nice and ready to go. Then just poor them into the grill. I just love that gas starter. Makes it so easy. It's nice a sturdy, rolls easy when I want to move to a different location. The table is great. I can layout all my food and utensils right there for easy access. It's an excellent grill.
I bought a replacement one today😊 for my very well used one that I owned for over 20 years. I had made other repairs to my old one over the years, but the gas valve quit working properly. I’m not a fan of explosions, so I decided it was finely time to retire it. Didn’t even consider another model. LOVE this grill and can’t wait to get my new one! Worth every penny of the cost!
Had mine since early 2006. Just put a replacement work-table on it (old one was the composite plastic type that had cracked a decade ago) and added a cast iron bottom coal-grate. Re: the gas starter - you don't need to run it nearly that long (save your tank). I only run it maybe 3 to 5 minutes at most until the bottom coals catch. The it'll keep goin just fine without the burner running until they're ready to cook on. Fantastic little grill.
I live in a condo development and when my next door neighbor moved they gave me an almost new Weber Performance Deluxe Grill. It's a 2019 model so it doesn't have the timer any more just the gas starter but everything else is just like yours. I hadn't done any grilling in over 3 years as the little kettle grill I had was junk and there were some yard obstacles that needed removing Once that had been done, it was on to the grilling; first up, a 2.7 pound Tri-Tip...cooked to perfection. Once again Weber brings home a winner...
Awesome yeah I love it! I thought I got a good deal but wow you really scored on this one. That timer is real convenient but a replacement timer can be a bit pricy especially when you can just set a timer on your phone and spend that money on some more Tri-Tips.
Nice video on your grill. I have the Weber Performer with the folding table. I've had it probably seven years now. It sits on my deck all year round, but I protect it with a cover since I live in the PNW. I highly recommend a cover if you get any kind of damp, wet, cold weather for any long stretch of winter. No joke, that pricey cover has kept my kettle looking almost new. I grill at least 4 times a week spring to fall. My Performer has been solid for grilling and smoking. I'm contemplating stepping up to a Summit Kamado, but that's some serious cash on an upgrade level. So, if I were to upgrade to a Performer Premium (like yours), I would do so because it has those additional smoking guides on the sweep handle and bottom kettle. Those little half moons added to your kettle model are for low and slow cooks for pork butts or brisket!! You have to try that on your model because low and slow cooks is why Weber added them to your model. Check out America's Test Kitchen for an episode on how to cook a Texas style brisket on a Weber 22 kettle with Kingsford charcoals. I tried it and it really worked. Amazing what our kettles can do with some great recipes. So those expanded vent slots on your model are the biggest bonus of all in my book. That and the gas ignitor. Oh wait, I just realized those are your Sharpie marks for vent position like I do. For a minute there I thought Weber wised up and made that an upgrade. Oh well, my bad. Another reason I would upgrade to your model is that much larger table. What a great bonus to have that added real estate to work with for digital thermometers, large proteins, cookware. IMO, dollar for dollar, your grill is the best of all worlds. You made a great decision going with this Weber model. I think I'll wait for a 4th of July sale-crossing fingers a sale happens.
Thanks I also need to get a cover to protect my grill. Yeah I love the table but it will get real dirty from the dust we get out here especially if I don't clean the grease off it after grilling. So a little clean up and a nice cover is the way to go. A brisket sounds like a great idea too. Good luck on the 4th of July sale. FYI if you join ACE hardware's rewards program you can get some good discounts on big ticket items.
My Performer is over 11 years old and working like the day it was put together. Even the piezo lighter for the gas starter is still working. The only mod I made was to hook up an adapter gas line to a regular 20 pound gas bottle instead of the little camping bottles.
Yeah the timer is really useful. I set it for 1 or 2 min to sear the meat over the coals. Then I put the meat off to the side of the coals and set the timer for 2 minutes and flip it 3 or 4 more times. I got the timing down pretty good to cook the meat on here just how I like it.
I picked one up at auction slightly used for $45 propane tank was empty so unknown if igniter works but it still looks like I did ok with outdoor grill cover included..👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for the video! I was looking for an honest review and exploring different brands and models before getting one for my husband. Now, definitely getting this one for him this Christmas!
After many years with Weber kettles, I bought a Kamado. Then, the snow collapsed my deck and broke my expensive Kamado. I replaced it with the Weber Performer with the folding table. There is nothing you can't do on a Webber Kettle. The Kamado worked well, too. It wasn't worth the cost to replace. I'll stick with tried and true Webber.
That's a bummer about your Kamado but yeah that is the real question if something happened to something you like would you get a new one or something else. I do like the way the Kamado looks though. That thing looks pretty cool. The Webber with the folding table looks pretty nice too.
@@ThatHobby TBH, the Kamado wasn't worth the money. The best part about it was it held temp better especially in cold weather. Otherwise, the Webber can smoke or sear anything, and holds temp just fine if you are paying attention to it. It is easier to move around, more durable and much cheaper.
There is a slit in the back to hang your grill grate by the handle when you need to move it out of the way. It’s easily forgotten since it’s in the back.
I'm thinking about buying one of these very soon. Thanks for the video. If you ever make it to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, I'll let you buy me a beer mate.
Thanks! Yeah this is is a great grill. My old Weber was pretty basic. So this was a really nice upgrade. I just cooked some stakes over the weekend and they were amazing.
Yeah the table is so nice to have. That really could be number one. Some people say they don't like the grate because it is hard to clean but it is really nice to be able to open it up and add some more coals. I don't know how I grilled without the ash catcher. It's so much easier to clean the ashes out with this thing. So yeah that is a great top 3 list.
That sounds like a good idea. I haven't seen any accessories like that but I have heard of people using fire bricks or rocks to raise the height of the coals.
May be moot but does the kettle's color affect the grilling dynamic? Not only am I contemplating a Weber Performer Deluxe but I'm drawn to the bronze kettle, too.
I don't think the color affects the grilling dynamic. My old grill was black and the bronze seems to grill just as good plus it's a lot nicer than my old grill with the table and all the extras. I chose the bronze because I wanted something that looked new and shiny. They also have green too. So you can get a few color choices.
I have only used the gas to light the coals. I never thought about cooking with it. I prefer using charcoal. It does get pretty hot though. So I guess you could cook with it but I don't think the gas was designed for cooking on the grill.
I just got this. What do i do with the disposable drip pan? Do i keep it or put it away? Also the char baskets are worth using? Some of my friends just remove them and put charcoal all over the bottom like normal ways
I don't remember getting a disposable drip pan? They sell them for $10 and they look pretty useful. As for the char baskets I like to use them. I put them in the middle of the grill to sear my meat. Then I move the meat over to sides were there are no coals to let it finish cooking. The char baskets seem to keep the coals contained were I want them. It just depends how you like to cook. The gas start puts a flam up in the middle of the grill so that's were I put the char baskets.
Do you need to use Weber brand bottles or will those standard propane bottles you get from the store work? Looks like you need to use Webers from what I see.
Standard propane bottles work fine. I use the bottle on my weed torch. So I usually keep a few on hand. I get them for ACE, Lowes, and Walmart. They all seem to work. There is also an adapter you can get to connect it to full size propane bottle if you prefer to use one of those.
A lot of people use a metal bucket for the ashes too. They even sell the attachable ash cans to be added to the old grills. A lot of the upgrades on here can be bought to add to the old grills. I have been thinking about updating my old grill for a fun project.
The ignition works the best in the middle but the charcoal trays can be moved around. So you can move them to the sides after a good 5 minutes. But don't use your hands like I did. You can push the trays to the sides with a spatial.
If you like Weber grills they have some bigger ones. The Weber Original Kettle Premium 26 inch Charcoal Grill is $429. They also have 37 inch Ranch Charcoal Kettle Grill, but it's $1,800 bucks. 2 grills my be a more economical option. I kept my old Weber grill and will be fixing it up. So when I need to cook for a lot of people I will have some more grill space. I want to add the removable grates, the thermometer, the ash can holder and the rolling lid holder to my old grill. That would be a fun project. Good luck with finding a new grill. Let me know what you end up getting.
Yes the food tastes similar. The gas flame doesn't taint the bricks like lighter fluid. Its just a flame that heats the bricks and once they start to get hot you turn off the gas. They do sell this same grill without the gas start if you prefer using a chimney.
I still love it! I will have to make an update video. My only issue is keeping it clean. I had a grease fire in the ash can. It softened the metal a little on the ash cans clamps and it isn't as secure as it used to be. The ash can is made of a thinner metal. I was thinking of buying a new ash can for it. But the rest of the grill has held up great.
We had one about 6 years ago, lived 45’ from ocean….salt absolutely killed the entire cart. Recently moved to desert and bought the crimson edition…looking forward to using it. Old unit had a resin table, new one is in box….interesting you mentioned the table is powder coat steel. Enjoy and thank you ✌️
The nice thing about living in the desert is that metal will last a lot longer. Plus you can grill all year long. The table is really nice. Let me know how you like it once it is all set up.
I have some affiliate links in the video description where you can check current prices. Last I checked it was $549 for a black one and $579 for the different colored ones. If you shop at ACE hardware you can join the rewards program and save some money on the grill.
@@HHHWLH It depends what you are using now. I had an old weber 22 inch kettle grill and I thought everything I cooked on it was amazing too. This new grill has a few more convinces and allows you to control the temperature a little better. So yes and no. Everything I cook on it is tastier but you can cook just as good on an old weber grill if you use a timer and adjust the heat. I bought mine last year for $459 and I thought that was expensive at the time.
@@ThatHobby Thank you. I was kinda' just pulling your leg, and playing with you. I get it. Having a Mercedes would be nice, but my VW gets me to the same place. You really should be a Weber sales associate. Your video really brought out the conveniences and qualities of the grill! Great job! You convinced me, including my wife. Now I am gonna' buy one. Thanks, again, and for being a sport.
Oh yeah I could still cook on my old grill but this new one is so much nicer to use. I also have an ACE Hardware affiliate link in the video description. I don't get paid as much as a weber associate but ACE dose pay a little for referrals. Plus they offer free assembly and delivery. Thanks for the complement. I really liked making this video and answering the comments about it.
Great video. "sear to lock in the juices" and "no blood running out" you gotta read up bro. Myoglobin isn't blood and searing doesn't lock in juices. It's trivial though. As long as the food comes out tasting good it doesn't matter.
I usually have the meat in a bowl marinating. The tongs seem to work best for that. Since they are handy I just end up using them. But I do like to keep a spatula at my grill too. I actually prefer to use the spatula. Maybe I will make a favorite grilling utensils video?
Yeah I was calling it blood by mistake. Somebody told me the technical term for it but I for got what it was called. I always though it was blood but it's not actually blood it's just the juices from the meat.
I have the same grill, same color and I love the thing. I've had it for 5-6 years now so it was pretty beat up. Ignition system failed, bottom grate was seriously warped where the burners are, the top temp adjust was warped and finally the top handle came off of the top. I was about to buy another one but instead I purchased replacement parts from weber and took it completely apart, cleaned it up (nasty job but worth it) fixed what was broken and reassembled. It's like new again. I bought a chimney after the ignitor went out (just needed a battery, duh) and will probably still use it with the gas as a starter for the chimney as suggested by @dbkfrogkaty1 below.
That's awesome! I was thinking of rebuilding my old weber grill too. That way I would have some extra room to grill with when I am cooking a lot of food at once.

Awesome! Thank you! Enjoy your new grill!
Yep, mine is copper as well. Got mine at ACE. I guess best thing is the movable charcoal bins, second to that is the gas assist lighting.
Yeah the charcoal bins are really convenient. At first I didn't think the gas assist lighting was that big of a deal but I really like using it now.
My Performer is over 11 years old and working like the day it was put together. Even the piezo lighter for the gas starter is still working. The only mod I made was to hook up an adapter gas line to a regular 20 pound gas bottle instead of the little camping bottles.

Nice! Do you have a link to the adapter?
Bought one today, can not wait. Have a Ooni Koda 16", Traeger, Gas grill, but i am sure this will be my number one. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! I used to have a gas grill too. But I only use the Weber now.
I have two-weber Performer Deluxe and a 26-inch weber and love all of them.
That's awesome! You have quite the collection. I used to have a gas grill but once I started using a Weber charcoal grill I was hooked.
Living the life. Thanks for the review. Very helpful
Thanks! Yeah this grill is pretty nice.
thanks for telling us what the timer is for, I was completely lost when I inherited this grill

Yeah you can't go wrong for $45. A new grill will and a cover will cost $640. With the $600 bucks you just saved you can buy a lot of meat too.
Great video. Thank you! Weber rocks! And the Performer one of the greatest. Enjoy that beauty!

what type of charcoal do you use?
I like Kingsford. You can use any charcoal though. I just like the Kingsford because it lasts a little longer than the other charcoals.
Is the table on this one metal or plastic
This is a metal table. That is one of the reasons I chose this grill. I wanted one with a nice table on it.
Honestly, if you put the ash catcher holders up high enough on the classic model it won't fall
A lot of people use a metal bucket for the ashes too. They even sell the attachable ash cans to be added to the old grills. A lot of the upgrades on here can be bought to add to the old grills. I have been thinking about updating my old grill for a fun project.

So you will lite this version using gas not with the chimney?? and also does the taste of the food taste similar like the charcoal only version??

Enjoy and thank you
✌️
The nice thing about living in the desert is that metal will last a lot longer. Plus you can grill all year long. The table is really nice. Let me know how you like it once it is all set up.
Great video. You are a natural
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making this video.
How much?
I have some affiliate links in the video description where you can check current prices. Last I checked it was $549 for a black one and $579 for the different colored ones. If you shop at ACE hardware you can join the rewards program and save some money on the grill.
@@ThatHobby For $579.00. Hmmmm? Does the price/cost make and cook the food tastier, any more better or delicious?
Man, this video made me just wanna grill
Thanks! I am grilling steaks for our Easter Dinner today. It is a real nice day today so it should be a lot of fun.
Great video. "sear to lock in the juices" and "no blood running out" you gotta read up bro. Myoglobin isn't blood and searing doesn't lock in juices. It's trivial though. As long as the food comes out tasting good it doesn't matter.
Thanks! Yeah my vocabulary isn't great but I sure do love this grill!
Great video, but i was really annoyed by the way you used your tongs / grabbed the meat 😂😂 .
I usually have the meat in a bowl marinating. The tongs seem to work best for that. Since they are handy I just end up using them. But I do like to keep a spatula at my grill too. I actually prefer to use the spatula. Maybe I will make a favorite grilling utensils video?
The gas start is the only reason I'd spend 600 for a grill.
The gas start is awesome but I really do like the whole set up too. It's pretty nice to have everything on a big cart with a table.
Throw some smoking chips on there bro
That sounds good! I will have to try that.
Terrible audio 😢
Audio can be pretty tough! Any tips or a recommendation for a good mic?
It’s not blood, it’s juice. 😎
Yeah I was calling it blood by mistake. Somebody told me the technical term for it but I for got what it was called. I always though it was blood but it's not actually blood it's just the juices from the meat.
@@ThatHobby I believe its called hemoglobin. Thanks for the review! Looking to pick this grill up.
