How has this grill held up? I picked one up for $129.99 on sale but haven’t had a chance to put it together yet with my work schedule. I only wish I’d paid more attention to the photos that it has no thermometer.
Members Mark responded to this same comment on their video, they said lid thermometers are just not accurate and basically that anyone serious about monitoring temp would use probes 😅 that said, they didn't build any channeling for probe wires
I use probes and have found that temperature gauges on quality grills and smokers are accurate. Perhaps Members Mark doesn't know that probes are inserted into the flesh of what ever it is one is cooking. Whereas a temperature gauge is for monitoring and managing the temperature of the cooker. @@ShanePresleyC
Just a heads up to anyone who might be interested sams has this on clearance for 179.99 right now. Had to run up there and grab one. It seems to be a well built grill
Thanks for the vid...picked up mine today $130. Purchased a real nice grill from Costco last year. Appreciated the fact it was gas assisted. Saw this one last year figured it was too small. Since they marked it down the deal was too good. Several features I like and it's girlfriend friendly! Purchased the Member's Mart barrel grill a few years ago love it. Member's Mart has good quality grills.
On sale right NOW. You can even get it delivered. I brought mine home myself to avoid shipping damage. Box is heavy but my 16 yo and I could carry it no problem. Going to assemble tonight. Beer is already on ice. Steaks are Marinating. This is going to be a culinary experience!
@@jordanweed9186 They have good sales going on right now, picked up their pellet grill for $199, I would have bought this grill if I didn't already own a Weber Kettle Master-Touch.
I got mine in Palmdale for $129 last week. It was $179 when I first saw them and a coupke days later they dropped it $50. I'm still watching to see if I can save a little more.
Yes, you use the propane to start the charcoal, let it run for 5 or 10 minutes and then the charcoal will be started enough to turn the gas off and wait another 5 or 10 minutes to cook
Nice looking package,But no lid temp gauge? One would have to install one. So when you do the burn off of the factory oils etc, you don't know how hot the grill is. Slo you have to buy an electric temp monitor with probes also.
Personally, I would use lump charcoal and never put lighter fluid in the grill. The propane torch should do the trick but never would I use briquettes in this grill. Only lump.
Just assembled mine today. Gonna make steaks on it tomorrow. Some pro and cons Pros: $129 price is a steal Heavy duty cast iron grates Solid build Sleek look Cons: Screws over time become loose and fall out Grease from food can cause the the bottom vent to stick
Thanks for great video showing assembly and usage! I put ours together this weekend, just did the soapy water test for gas leaks and attempted to ignite.. something not right...it was 1 proper light out of 15 attempts or more. It would show brief flame poof when turning ignition knob and then it would go out, instead of remain on. I checked wiring, connections, all good. Not what I was hoping for in brand new grill.
Hey Jason, I appreciate the comment! Mine did that as well two different times just as you described. Both times were related to the propane cylinder… one time it was empty (or low I guess) but I could light it with a lighter but not the igniter) the other I didn’t have the bottle screwed all the way in. Not sure if that helps or not.
@@bigbran45 yeah, I purchased a brand new propane tank from Walmart and it's screwed in tight. If anything's that fault I feel like it's the wire that takes the spark to the grill.. The very end metal part had come loose on the knob and so I reinserted.. I may need to call customer service and figure out if I can get replacement.. Thanks again
How does it do after a bunch of ash has landed in the bottom? Weber has that 'ash sweeper', which isn't great, but sweeps much of it through the holes. On this one I'm guessing you have to tend to that moreso before you cook. Also, if you're doing any indirect grilling, if you put a drip pan on the other side to catch drips, it'll keep it working better (less likely to get that concrete-like mix of ash and fat down in the bottom. I have a performer, but bought it used. no way I'd pay like 450-500 for one.
This one has a ash sweeper and catch bucket also. That usually come with the Weber original premium at $219. This one is on sale right now at Sam’s club for $129. Comes with everything the premium also a custom cover and a nice stand.
Bought mine the other day, does anyone have trouble starting the gas assist. I have to feather the knob while it is lighting and just a small turn more it is at full blast, and sounds like a flame thrower.
just put mine together today and experienced the exact same thing with the gas assist. only got a flame when i just barely open the fuel valve. if i open fully like the directions say, it sounds like the gas is blowing so hard, the flame won't light. i'm using an old almost-empty propane tank though and haven't tried a new full one yet. did you ever get yours to operate like the instructions suggest? thanks!
22.5” - I’ve only cooked on it like half a dozen times since putting it together, but its holding up well. One thing I noticed, the Webber has a blade at the bottom of the kettle you can spin to move the ash to the clean out bucket, this grill you have to take the grates out and push the ash into the bucket. Not really a bad thing, just not as convenient. But I say for the price it’s pretty cool. Thanks!
On step 5 of the assembly instructions (or approx the 3:00 mark of this video) there is a screw already placed by the factory in Panel D2 that has threads only going halfway down the screw... leaving a small gap between Panels D1 and D2. That doesn’t seem right, but the instructions don’t say anything about tightening it or leaving a gap. I’m confused.
I have one and it sucks! It will not get hot at all. You have to leave lid open inch or 2 to keep it going. Have you found that with yours?
I have one and it will not get hot unless I keep the lid open a little. Not sure what I am doing wrong?

Looks like a good solid grill. However, there's no temperature gauge and that's a must. How do you smoke and slow cook without it?
Thanks for the comment... Yeah you are 100% right, you really can't

Do you need to put the charcoals in those buckets? Can it just be put in those bottom grates without the buckets
So this gas assistance is meant to be used to help light up charcoal correct? Help me understand

I just bought one , does anyone feel like it doesn’t get hot enough ? I like to sear my steaks and this grill slow cooks everything
Use hardwood charcoal if u want hotter or open vents all the way
Just got mine ready for Memorial Day weekend thanks for the video
I think ill get one for smoking briskets
I just got one, love the quality of the materials and really sturdy. I cook yesterday in it. Really comfy to use ita a 111lb grill
How’s it holding up 2 years later?
Anytime i turn my igniter on, it doesn’t light up. Is there something im doing wrong?😊
Thanks guys. I found one at $129 her in SoCal. Now to get used to cooking with charcoal again.

Nice video, I just finished assembling mine yesterday, what is the long metal stick with circle ends that it came with the unit is for?
Thanks for the comment! That is to hold a match to stick in the grill and light the charcoal if you use lighter fluid or run out of propane
I was so confused with this part also. Thanks
I didn’t know what it was for either 😅
TIP: Cooked on it but recommend spreading the charcoal and out of the baskets for better even cooking!
Use the baskets for wood chunks for smoking
Thanks for the video man. Just picked mine up today.

I have this problem on a newly assembled grill. How did u solve this?
Is the entire bowl and lid porcelain? Or should you just go Weber?
lid and bowl are "porcelain enamel", according to their comparison chart it's the same as weber
My ignition won’t stay one. Lights for 1 seconds and goes off
Anyone have problems aligning the lid? if I leave the screws loose it sits fine. if I tighten them, its off and grinds when I close it

Will any 1 pound propane tank fit on the grill or does it have to be a certain dimensions?
