    I'm a 65-year-old female with a 26" Weber Kettle and I just replaced the One Touch Cleaning System today all by myself. If you think it's hard on a 22" Weber, try it on a 26" Weber! *LOL* This took some ingenuity, but what I did was run string through the bottom of the handle holes of the blade system and then dropped the string through the bottom of the kettle to hold the blade system in place at the bottom of the kettle when I flipped the grill over to install the washer and handle to the underside of the kettle. This worked great!
    Thank you for the tip on the Simple Green Grill Cleaner plus SOS pads. This worked so much better than products I have tried before.

      It's only a simple grill with the same design it's had for decades. You shouldn't need to "clean" a grill other than removing ash.

    My original kettle is 30+ years old, and in perfect condition (other than a gazillion fine scratches).
    I do a thorough clean every 20 smokings, or every 30-40 grillings.
    However, the newer kettles don't seem to last as long. They're lighter in weight, and have a thinner coating. But, they should last a decade still as long as they're cleaned, and protected from the elements.
    Once a year, I like to do a 10:1 of peanut oil, and food grade silicone grease on the inside/outside of the body.
    I start with about a teaspoon of the food grade silicone in an automatic mixer. Then I slowly add a warmed (135f-145f) peanut oil ,a 1/4 cup at a time, every 60 seconds. It'll have a total of 1-¾ cups peanut oil to the teaspoon if Food grade silicone. Just make sure you don't add too much h of the silicone, or it will end up trapping ash/debris in it.
    Once I coat the inside of the grill (a paintbrush is adequate) I then do the outside. Then, I turn on the propane starter, or I will put a propane torch head up, into the grill, and run it on high about an hour. Hopefully you get it to 350f.
    Then I wipe down inside and outside, looking for any oil that's pooled, or not bonded, and voila.... i put it back together.
    I'm in hot, humid, salty-aired environment of Florida. I cover my grills with appropriate covers, and leave them outside year round... but I use them about 4+ times a week. So if you're not using it as much, it'll last wayyy longer.
    😀

    You dont need to replace the one step kit when that happens. It happens because grit builds up underneath and bends the blades. Stick some 2 inch wood shims on each of the blade, as close to center as you can, and bend the blade down. Then pull the shims out, and the blade will slap tight. Then do the next blade etc.

    I have had my kettle for a little over a year. I just did my first cleaning yesterday like that only I tried the CitruSafe cleaner. I think I may try the simple green next time, or possibly the easy off that is marketed for grills....yours came out a tad cleaner. I had a bend in one of my blades on the one touch too but I was able to take mine apart bend it back down and reassemble good as new. Nice job!

    13:10 - Oh god... it's just a simple piece of metal lol it really makes no difference if it's counterfeit... bare metal is same as bare metal.

    • @JPBBQ
      @JPBBQ  3 года назад +3

      Appreciate you commenting Max. It may be just a piece of metal, but where that metal came from and how it was manufactured makes a difference. There is also a business threat of counterfeit products, as it results in a loss of revenue for the brand that is being copied. Thanks again for watching.
