Wow! When we saw the previous video where you first showed this grill, we expected it would have to be repainted. You really brought that yellow finish back to life! We've always known you had amazing skills, and this project seals the deal. Routing that new wood handle was epic. Great to see a cool vintage product get so much restoration love. Excellent work, Andrew!

Kitchen Queers Thanks KQ. In the process I learned that the kettles are not painted but porcelain enamel coated from the factory. That’s why you can use a razor and steel wool to clean them.

This reassured me that using the razor blade to clean the inside of the bowl was a good idea. I kept seeing info from different sources saying otherwise. I got a used weber with ash caked on the inside, and I was scared I was going to scratch it. After doing it, though, I didn't really see anything of concern. Great video!

Nice restoration. I have the same one (in black ☹) and you got lucky, mine the legs had screws holding them in that were rusted in place, the legs were rusted into the mounts, the dampers were frozen and I had to drill out the mounting bolts. But I did get the hinged grate for it also. Just need to get around to assembly. I had thought of chopping the legs and making it into a table top sorta Mega Jumbo Joe.

serious question , does anyone have any information on how to remove rust from a weber , then what is the best way to go about spot painting that chipped rusted area on the weber , a lot of the older kettles that one comes across have rust spots on them , im not looking at making the enamel look new again , i just want to make sure that the rust does not get worse or starts working under the enamel , thank you for your time .
