The casting in this show was fantastic. It's unfair to say, because all of the actors were brilliant, but David Earl did such an amazing job as Kev he deserves an award for it.

I think Karl was trying to be professional. You don't want to be the actor who ruins the take, especially if you're in the periphery of the shot or off camera. Also, he was quite tense and/or stressed out a lot of the time for reasons fans of Das Pilker know. I'm too lazy to elaborate. Some of it is revealed in The Making of Derek Series One. A lot of it is his weird relationship with Ricky. Or, I should say, Ricky's weird treatment of him.
Believe it or not, I'm watching Derek now, after After Life. Never heard of it. That show is single handedly one of the best value series I've ever seen in all these last 20 years. It's so captivating, raw and genuine.

+Planet Chucky I eat them fairly often instead of prawns (whilst not living at the seaside), you can buy packs of them in supermarkets. Also a small point but crabsticks don't actually contain any crab, they're made from surimi (which is white fish).

I could not stop watching this show. I felt in love with each character. So many beautiful lessons learned and a wonderful tribute to seniors and people caring for them. Amazing writing 🥰 Can’t wait to see more of these actors together again.
