    I have my B and was able to get to driving school buses. It was paid training, no contract, and was able to get my class B with two endorsements. Only downside is that I have a auto restriction. I’ve since left school bus driving and started driving motorcoaches. Next to no labor involved, I get paid hourly, paid for lodging, and some other goodies. If you can deal with people, bus driving can be a good job. And unlike trucking, there’s truly a bus driver shortage so they will pick you up in an instant. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    I actually made more than I thought I would.
    11 sometimes 12 hour days Mondays through Fridays doing front load commercial. Starting pay with the overtime - about 100,000 a year. Again …. First job using my cdl and been here 7 months. Would recommend the trash sector for good pay.

    I’m gonna add something here if you don’t mind I’ve had my CDL over 20 years and driving most of it It’s amazing the kind of vehicles you were encounter make sure you get with vehicles that are well taken care of I don’t care what they pay you don’t get in a vehicle that does not have brakes it’s not been taken care of… if you’re in a dump truck you’re gonna find out real quick.. make sure they have their insurance papers in the vehicle at all times that’s a problem you do not never want to have an anything.

    Good video! I am considering getting a CDL B or A, and leaving a contractor position that I have grown to be very tired of. I liked you talking about some of the downsides to different Class B jobs, haven't heard some of that before. (been watching a ton of truck vids). Your information is very useful, and I thank you for it!

    Great advice and experience and telling us straight up what is. Thank you.
    Food truck feels like it would be good exercise, but the risk of injury or wearing out body parts is significant. Most people last about 6 months and the old timers go 3 years... or more if they are super careful with their body.
    The trash truck seems... rough.
    Pay structures are super important.
    Knowing your availability only the day before is like being on call for free.
    A CDL license needs to pay at least McDonalds-and-a-half. In my town McDonalds is 15 to 17 starting pay (2022).
    One worry I have is fitness. Seems like exercising or work outs are important to stay healthy if I am behind the wheel a lot.

    You just have to look in the right places. I drive Motorcoach and with tips I probably make $80,000/year and it’s pretty consistent work. Also you can get in to stuff like box truck night deliveries to 7 eleven some places and mail contract driver. You can find decent jobs it’s just hard to actually get hired by the one you want.

    Thanks man. I'm in Philly looking to get a cdl class b. Thinking about going to Global for my license. I left a warehouse job after 22 years and tried something different but it didn't work out. So I think I'm going to get my cdl b. I was always looking at driving a dump truck once I get my class b. Can you tell me what a new driver would make for a family owned fleet of 35 dumptrucks outside of Philly? And what are the hours like? The place I was looking at was M-F start early home 530-600pm about $230 a day. Some weekends. Health medical dental. Does that like a good deal? I just want to know what is the starting hourly rate for a new class b driver makes outside of Philly. Montgomery and bucks county? Thanks for your advice and all the info in your video.

      I got my class A and have 3 months OTR. If you don’t have a little bit of passion for OTR , your gonna hate it like me. I’m applying to local class B jobs currently. Got all my endorsements, no restrictions. And the take home pay (700-900) a week is not worth the responsibility and stress that comes with OTR. Finding parking, missing a turn and ending up in downtown, gps suggests turns that is obvious you can’t make, your always preplanning for something. This isn’t just a job where you can turn off after each shift. Not for me

    That part about the low pay at the trash company 😅 $160 a day is trash (no pun intended). The whole point of obtaining a CDL license is so that you have opportunities at higher paying jobs. Imagine thinking someone is gonna accept a low wage after the time, energy and resources that you put into getting your CDL. That’s laughable. We’re not in the business of being taken advantage of.

  • @kevinteeples5145
    @kevinteeples5145 3 месяца назад

    Why bother getting a CDL-B. You might as well just get the CDL-A. Like he said with a CDL-A you can drive anything but a motorcycle. With a CDL-A you can go anywhere and the price to get the CDL-A is roughly the same.

      Transit or school bus driving. Only downside is you’ll have an auto restriction.

    • @tuneunleashed
      @tuneunleashed 5 месяцев назад

      @@poorlittlebiker6476That sucks here in Canada for a Class B license you have no automatic transmission restriction only with the class A because every bus here is an automatic. Which gives you time to learn how to drive manual before challenging a Class A and after a year with your class B your Class A goes from 10k to 4k in price. Which is an absolute steal in my opinion. Alberta is where I’m at.
