Mirrors are one of the most important things in truck driving. I was taught to check your mirrors at every intersection or 10 seconds whatever comes faster.
@@Its_FamilyGuy yes. You eventually realize that you’re head is on a constant swivel scanning ahead and your mirrors. You will never need to worry about blind spots because you will begin to see every car as it’s approaching from a greater distance and will always know what’s around your truck at all times. And also don’t look right in front of your vehicle when driving. Our brains are capable of seeing things that are in front of us when we are looking way up ahead. You will notice that looking way ahead will result in smoother turns and less side to side lane movements while going down the road.

May have a nice PC, but not the money to get the monitors and all that pedal stuff quite yet, which is why i'm getting into trucking
Observations. 1. Gloves ALWAYS when working outside of the truck. Hand injuries are VERY expensive and hurt. 2. ALWAYS make your FNG back into a space. When it's their truck they can use pull-through's. (unless you really have to pee) 3. NEVER take off your seat belt when you move a truck. 4. When you are backing a trailer, and you have your head out the window looking at the back of the trailer, if you want the trailer to go right, you turn your wheel to the right in 1/4 increments.
Very great patience in training! Your trainee just needs to relax a bit more and loosen up he seems really nervous and unsure of himself. Nervousness sometimes leads to accidents. You’re telling me, no ideas how to take a turn wide or swing the opposite way before cutting it back. No idea about stopping distance, doesn’t check mirrors, rides breaks instead of using jakes or letting off the accelerator. Automatic trucks make it too easy for people to get in these truck and think they’re drivers
@@TxRSC60 He could also just keep practicing until he gets proficient at it? Why does he need to just give up immediately without a solid amount of practice first? Horrible mindset you got there.
😅Hey, I've got something for you. I was watching around the 20 minute mark when he was pulling into the pull thru to park... you're telling him go left, go right, wait to turn, turn now.. but you don't tell him why he's waiting to start the turn or why he goes left or right. And he's just blindly following what you tell him to do. How is he supposed to learn when he has no idea what he is doing these maneuvers for. Like waiting to turn so the trailer tracks more to the left to clear the other truck. But he does not know the reason you say wait to start the turn is to get the trailer in position. Go left, go right means nothing if he doesn't understand why he is doing it. You do the same thru the whole video. At 22:14 you start giving directions again and I'm looking at that poor guy sitting there looking so confused. Your telling him which way to go and turn but not why he's doing it. You say let's just put it over there and then your pointing and telling him how to turn. You see and know where you want the trailer.. but that poor guy is just looking in a general direction of "over there", but he has no clue what you're wanting him to do or what space you're wanting him to park that trailer.. he's just blindly turn the trailer "over there". Why not try explaining exactly what you wanting him to do... like saying we're going to take the trailer to the far left and park in the open space between those trailers. Or explain how when you turn the tractor farther left that it will pull the trailer over more to the left to position the trailer where you need it to go when your making the turn or starting your backing. You just saying turn left, turn right, turn farther... that does not help him learn how to maneuver the truck to make his turns or position the truck for backing because he has no idea where he's going he's just turn left until you tell him it's enough. I just see him so confused listening to your directions. If you look at him at 23:08 your giving him direction to get set up to back in with those trailers. Watch him.. he does not once look in his mirrors he's just spinning that steering wheel in whatever direction you say and he's watching you for approval or his turn direction and how much to turn. He has no situational awareness and no idea what that trailer is doing. He's just spinning the steering wheel where you tell him to.

Before you left the yard, you didn't have them check to make sure all the lights were working on the tractor and trailer clearance light, 3 id lights, 4-way flashers, too worried about the sliding tandem pins and brake drums. Thank you so much for these types of videos i start my CDL training in 4 months and one of the biggest things i was worried about is having to ride with a trainer because of my social anxiety but this helpede realize their just trying to help u on ur path
💯 they are there to guide you
I like it when you are giving training opportunities to young drivers ❤
Thank you
Positive reinforcement makes all the difference keep it up Twizted

I can’t wait to be in this position! Specifically Prime Inc too! Love to see OG trainer cool calm and collective. I would hate to get a dickhead as a teacher. Love it 💯
Thank you there are more good then bad
great trainer, definitely has a ton of patience. I havnt gotten my CDL yet but am in the process and look forward to meeting many people in this field.
You can do it!
This is great to see as I’m thinking of getting into trucking. I just turned 50 and it’s time for a career change.
I hear that
@@TwiztedD I’ve been doing IT for the past 20 years and I’m tired of servers and computers. Move onto trucking for the next 15-20 years. I’m a bigger guy though, 5’10”, 350 pounds so hopefully I’ll be able to do the pre-trip Ok. Getting under to check the king pin and stuff.
@@jaycaissie2311 IT? Are you a coder? Isn't IT generally is way better with both pay & standard of living? Why would you switch if you're already raking in 6 digits?
Personally I would pick IT over trucking(I think). I am 40yrs old & about to start CDL school in about 2 weeks, then right after I have 2 code bootcamps I am trying line up. I am trying to get into IT but will use the CDL as backup just in case I can't find a job after the bootcamps. Might seems greedy but I need to do everything to support my family...
@@xhuynh23 my background is system admin, not a programmer plus I don’t have most up to date skill set anymore as I’ve been working with same company for 16 years and they don’t upgrade things often. I’m in Canada on the east coast so salaries aren’t as high as Ontario or out west. I’m sitting in the $60k a year area. From few truckers I’ve been talking too this is easily attainable after year’s experience trucking. I’m just getting tired of dealing with servers and computers.
@@jaycaissie2311 is it true you can make good money in IT? I hear it’s pretty boring work lol
Excellent video you took me through training from the couch and I felt hands on
The first student you showed driving seemed to have a good grasp of what he was doing with a few small errors but seemed to fix them quickly.
Very nice job sir!
Greetings from Sweden
Good point!
its insane how much you can learn on videos instead of just reading books even tho i love to read but this video was very educational and very helpful
Glad you enjoyed it!
The best teacher so ever ❤.
Thank you
I learned all of this in CDL school. I noticed not all school teaches and train people the same. I'm glad I got a lot of hands on during the 160 hours of school.
Right on
Where did you end up going to learn
@mackpersonal8520 I'm in Tennessee so I went to Tennessee CDL Inc. The school training is pretty intensive and covers majority of these things. A lot of hands on and drive time as well.
@@apexriders_ did you know how to drive trucks before you started school?
@apexriders_ i'll go to United Driving school, the program say 180 hours , 4 weeks , worth it ?
I love this video my friend told me prime was a great company this was a great teacher to ride with
Thanks
I start my first ever CDL job next week, I hope I get someone as patient and helpful as you to teach me
100%
I'm going to the DMV this week for my CDL. I have to basically narrate eveything I see and do lol.. Have to call out all of the road signs, intersections, overpasses, bridges, potential hazards, and try to rattle off 7 different rail road precautions before reaching a rail road crossing. All while constantly checking my mirrors and speed lol. Praying that I pass. 😂
Trying to decide if I wanna pursue trucking as a career and videos like these are so helpful. Thank you for making these!
Your very welcome
Hello I love what your doing with the tranies driver 😂 I just had a flash back seeing your videos form 18 years ago😂😂
Hey, thanks
dude mad respect to you man! im excited to get my CDL I currently drive a 2024 5500 cummins dump truck and haul a 20 ft lowboy with a mini ex or a skid steer and just backing it into the shop with having everyone parked on each side I've had to 90 it out some times and then pull forward a smidge or sometimes I get it all in one shot :D I'm sure the 53 ft trailers are practically the same but a bit harder since they're def longer
Yes sir this would not be that hard for you
I respect your patience i hope if i do take this decision i get a trainer as cool as you.
Definitely ask as many questions. No question is dumb when learning.
Best dang teacher out there respect .whoop whoop! Family
💯 whoop whoop!! Mmwcl!!
This is so wonderful when I was with my trainer when I was on driving he was very wonderful and so understanding I love wonderful trainers that explains everything and really helps make it where it is easy to understand I love this video you do wonderful explaining definitely do miss being on the road but love this video thank you for this
You so welcome thank you
It's ppl who never ask or question that are concerning. We all know u don't remember well unless exposed over & over. I appreciate questions.
Always
This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I’m about to be headed to Prime orientation. I hope I get a trainer as cool as you, and I hope we meet on the road somewhere so I can shake your hand and say thank you for what you do.
I hope so too!
@@TwiztedD finally pulling into Springfield right now. Bus broke down in Tulsa on the way here.
How are you supposed to learn without patience or a sense of wanting to learn more??
How can you teach someone without patience?
He has the right to ask as many questions and receive calm and collective answers as he did🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yep
I'll tell anyone when you go out with a trainer and your driving keep this in your head every second, really every second, your in control of that track trailer your responsibility ECT so handle it like that be comfortable knowing you earned it's in your control and be eager to learn.
Sweet video! Are there two trainees at a time assigned per truck nowadays for the OTR training?
No I just have multiple students right now so I run local freight
We need more mentors like this man!!
Thank you
Check mirrors every 8 to 10 seconds 🎉🎉❤❤❤..I can't wait to start trucking school
Let's do it
Cool trainer ,three more weeks and will be done with my training school here in North Carolina ,I'm nervous .
Love the videos! I'm interested in getting a CDL going to enroll tomorrow.
Let's goooooo
Been thinking about going through the schooling in about a year or so got to let the speeding ticket get off by the record.

I can't say I wasn't there before, we all live and learn

Im so glad there’s automatic semis. Some goof told me there was only manuals
Nope
With no manual experience, I hated learning manual the first 2 weeks or first active 10 hours. Once you get it, you get some pride out of it. Majority of people should be pretty good at it after 24 hours of actively practicing.
@@drblitz3092 The way the industry and truck manufacturers are heading, manuals will be gone by 2030. These transmissions they have in these auto's now are no slouch.
@@zach071591ya, but it makes it way easier to get a local job if you need one. Makes it look like you do more than the minimum and. If they ever need to move a manual, they got you
Some people are making fun of the trainees but hey, everyone in the business had to start somewhere
That's right
if your not learning on a manual transmission, the cdl school should be half price. because now your going to have a restriction on your cdl, and i've heard cdl schools will charge you a high amount to go get re tested on a manual
Yes
Now imagine if he actually had to think about shifting the truck during all this lol. 😂 Would've been a shitshow
I feel like prime has the best training in the the trucking industries
I feel that also
You are patient instructor, awesome
Great vid!!! Keep them coming

Yo what’s up twisted D ? i’m learning alot from your videos . matter of fact things i feel like my trainer should be teaching me . I was wondering if there are specific things that he should be mandatory teaching me ? because im almost at my 50,000 miles and i still don’t feel confident with the qualcomms menus or the prime inc app menus or the reefer menus . should i try switching trainers ? ive learned most things i know from Your channel and similar channels . sorry for the long post , just a lil worried before i’m out on my own . thank you
Communication is key express that to your trainer
@@MichelleSpence-pw4bp I am the trainer
Got my Clp today let’s goooo
Let's goooo
how long do new drivers ride with a trainer before going solo?
In Germany we drive under the trailer and when we hear that the king pin is engaged, we put the forward gear in gear and drive once to see if it is locked correctly, only then do we go out and close the trailer. Greetings from Germany
we do the same thing but we make sure no to jump it
Before you left the yard, you didn't have them check to make sure all the lights were working on the tractor and trailer clearance light, 3 id lights, 4-way flashers, too worried about the sliding tandem pins and brake drums. When the kid got off the exit, cut it way to tight, didn't even pull out towards the yellow curb to swing the trailer. dear god this kid couldn't backup to save his life, too focused on his drive tires than where the trailers going.
Hope some day you learn how to teach
NAWHH he is a good trainer its not much you can do when alot of stuff he was struggling on suppose to be classroom procedures are something yk
Right on!!
i kind of wanna get into driving and get my cdl’s. i’m fine with everything the job entails but the actual driving a truck scares me lol. the manuel. i can drive stick in cars but im not graceful with it.

It's not for everyone
I wish to have a nice trainer like you i just got my CDL
I remeber training with prime back in 2019, what i know know about the industry i wouldn't go back to them, theres jobs that offer a guaranteed daily rate, so working for cpm, is not worth it at all especially for a company driver, but for training its top notch after you have even a year under you, leave immediately, because 1200 a week at that point, is not worth dealing with this job, min 2k a week, average.
Hi.he did a great job.How much cdl training cost in America. And how much is the average earning?
