The issue is that many people are trying to treat the trucking industry like a typical 9-to-5 job, except for local driving. Over-the-road trucking is a unique lifestyle and is not suited for everyone."Everything you do in life is shaped by your own experiences. You can't rely solely on what others have gone through; your journey is unique. Regardless of the profession, there are always pros and cons to consider, including retirement. Trucking offers a valuable opportunity to get out of debt, save money, and live rent-free. Most importantly, it's vital to have clear goals and maintain a healthy budget. If you're considering a career in trucking, don’t do it just to build your RUclips following. Instead, focus on embracing the freedom, the travel, and the financial rewards that come with reaching your goals.
Been doing a lot of research and am just trying to get school started. Your channel (among others) has been incredibly helpful in helping me figure some things out and finally make the decision to enter the industry. I know it's a rough time but I'd rather have experience behind me once it improves than to just start out at that time. Thanks for your videos.
I plan to stick it out with the dept of corrections until spring… I don’t really want to deal with winter driving straight out of the box. Then plan to hit the road
You've toughed it out with Stevens for a while. Longer than most drivers. I know Crete and Davis Express have terminals in Florida. I know Davis stays in the Southeast. Both are good companies for experienced drivers. Stay safe. Always do what's best for you.
I drove for about 6 years, any company in that field, sees the drivers and a huge liability and have been holding anybody that comes on in front of the bus, waiting for any little thing to drop ya. And that's just a fraction of the problems with driving anymore. Ya'll can have that bs.
Ive been with Stevens for about 1.5 years. I went out from January 1st to August 23rd. 8 months. The only thing i ask of my company is give me my 34 hour breaks. As long as I have those I can run and run and run.
How much does it overall cost to become a CDL driver? You talked about a loan. I’m thinking about driving but I wanna know the loans and all that I might have to take.
I've been seriously considering doing truck. I have 2 trucking schools close to me. I also want to make a change in my life. I can't do standard jobs anymore. Plus I love to drive. Any thoughts on what to do?
What up bro I’m just finishing with my trainer heading to grad school in a few days. Just wondering what type of miles should I be expecting? I plan on being out 7 weeks at a time to get the full week when I do go home.
@@CoachDusty also I’m trying to continue going to the gym how do you do it? Do you park your truck at the gym then move to a truck stop or just Uber over? How do you plan it?
I find planet fitness on my route line then satellite view the lot to see if I can park around back for a couple hours. Never for a 10. Sometimes I Uber yes.

I'd say starting in the winter time would be the best time to start. It would be like being a pilot that learned to fly in real weather.

Stevens didn’t pay enough for me to stay. I love Stevens but the pay need to be more!

When you need a 34 is your decision

If you get on with a company that will sponsor your CDL school it won’t cost much. Stevens covered $3500 of my $8000 CDL program

Look up their time frames, call for the start dates, then block out the time in your schedule as soon as feasible.
How are you getting around when you do have the time off? PC?
I Jumped in a year ago and I work as a contractor with a moving company
I’ll be damned if a broker makes more money then me or the same
99% of truck drivers ive encountered look as if theyre the most unhealthy people ive ever seen. id be shocked if most of them live past 70.
The average life expectancy for truck drivers is 61 years old

Heck, no, the trucking industry is terrible.
No.
Temporarily... Sure, as a career.... No chance run.
Nope
They do not pay enough..1500 to 1800 a week....thats crazy...
How is 1500 a week not enough? I’ll be grateful if I even get 700. Y’all need to live below your means and budget
1500 a week after taxes is same as a 100k salary, that's good money
