For the love of God, why couldn't you guys offer a Trijicon option for the plate?... or native slide options?

I put the TruTec Micro Green Dot (TG8100G) with the Ruger 90722 plate on my 57. I had to find the right screws to mount the optic to the plate, which were M3 x .05 screws in 8mm length...no filing or cutting required.

Couple of things left out. The two torx screws that come with the Vortex optic are longer than the Ruger supplied mount plate is thick. Instructions with the Vortex mention this. What happens is the screws bottom out by actually hitting the top of the slide, before the optic is on tight. You have to shorten them about .020 - .030 of an inch. To determine how much, before you mount the plate on the slide, mount the optic on the plate, then determine how much of the screw sticks out of the plate on the opposite side of the optic I did the shortening by simply putting the head of the screw in a vise and using a fine machinists file. I then measured the remaining screw thread length, and if necessary removed some more. Go slow and steady and don't try and shorten the threads all at one time. I did a final fit and found the screws, when the optic is in place, did not come through the Ruger plate, and were a bout .010 shorter than the plate thickness. The instructions for the plate and optics give torque values. (I happen to have a 1/4 inch torque wrench) I used loc tite blue thread locker for the optic torx screws, the Ruger plate screws have red loc tite already applied. Remember to not try and fasten the optic to the Ruger plate until 6 hours after attaching it to the slide. (this is covered in the instructions for the Ruger plate)

So @Ruger, your 5 min video about optics and sights was all about the optics and no time spent discussing the sights. What options are you giving for changing out the factory sights? Are there night sights coming? Is this going to be another 5.7 handgun that has no option for combat / tactical / suppressor height sight options like the OTHER pistol being made that got rid of those options?
If you want to stand out and make a difference in the market, give us the option to do something other than add options for JUST target shooting. Clunky adjustable sights and fancy optics don't holster and conceal well for those who, you know, actually want to carry this thing and may need to for defense and not shooting paper targets in highly lit areas........

    1) The screw head sizes are not in the manual 2) my allen wrench set sucks - sizes are not correct 3) scrounged thru container of old mix/match allen wrenches, to remove the screw is 1/16 allen wrench.

Hello. I see other asking, but will ask again. Is there no plate for mounting a Holosun 507c, or a Trijicon RMR? If not, is there a reason why not? They are two of the most sought after red dots for pistols, so it would be good to put on the things we want - so then it causes to want to be more vocal about recommending the pistol to our friends & family & everyone else.

@@brockadkins949 Fair point. But then their response, or solution (if they seemed to care) should be to come out with an alternative such as a plate for a lighter 507K or RMRcc(1oz). Did they reply with that, or do that? Nope. I did find a plate on eBay to put the 507k on, and love the 57. It's something that a young female can easily handle, and having 20+1 rounds if you are out walking your dog and get chased down the street by 16 javelinas, like I have (only 4 of them, and not TOO aggressive - didn't have to fire because they did let me get away). They could do some things to make the 57 far more well-received. Especially after all this time.

The screws that come with the Ruger mounting plate and the Vortex Viper scope do not work as stated. They bottom out...and the others are too short. Ruger nor Vortex have a fix for this. The screws that come with the Viper are 6-48 - 5/16 and M3.5x6MM. The plate will mount to the 57 with the provided screws, the optics will not mount with supplied screws. Filing and trimming down are an option, however with the size of the screws it is easy to mess them up!

Is the reason the rmr plate isn't available because the rmr and holosun optics too heavy for the slide to cycle reliably? I'd like to know so I'm not waiting for something that's not coming and I can go ahead and mount a vortex venom. I'd rather use a holosun, but I realize they might be a little hefty for a 5.7.

The first reply was confused, I think. The mount in the video was for vortex and buris optics. If ruger had the rmr plate for sale, yes, it would work with any holosun pistol sized optic (with exception of the 509). Unfortunately, I have yet to see a rmr plate for the ruger 57. I've looked far and wide, and the only plate available for now is for the vortex and buris.
It might have something to do with the weight of the holosun and rmr red dots. Especially the holosuns might be too heavy for the slide to cycle reliably. If that's the case, and the vortex/buris plate is the only one they will sell, I would recommend the vortex venom. Vortex had an amazing, no questions asked, lifetime warranty, and the battery compartment is on the top of the optic so you don't have to remove the sight to replace the battery then re-zero everytime you replace the battery. I have one on a different gun and they really are well built, sturdy sights. Their warranty alone make them worth the money, and they're less expensive than most other options.

Tanner Machine products makes a RMR & Holosun mounting plate from 6061 aluminum but the wimpy Ruger 57 cant handle it. From Ruger "We do not have another option for the recoil spring, only what was available from the factory. The optic that is mounted is too heavy and is preventing your firearm from cycling properly." Only Ruger, all other gun manufactures you can mount any sight, what a joke, don't worry a real manufacturer will come up with a spring that will work soon, I explained that I needed the Holosun for my wife that had a stroke so she can one hand rack and the sights that they offer are not robust enough, but Ruger don't care and sheepishly wont mention there sight limitations on web sight, hope someone comes up with a better pistol soon. ** note Alex Pro has a better threaded barrel for the 57, not so clunky.
