    Alright, installed my trigger!! Definitely a must have trigger upgrade for the Ruger 57 at this time. Some tips/advice, add loctite to your pre and post travel screws before adjusting. Make sure you adjust your Pre travel screw first then your post travel screw (or else you will have to unscrew your post travel screw anyways to adjust your pre travel). To adjust your pre travel, hold the trigger down and carefully adjust the screw (this is why you want your post travel screw a bit out of the way). BE GENTLE AND PRECISE. Love this upgrade already!

    I have to say I was nervous to try this. But took me 30 minutes start to finish. Watched the video in full, then watched it step by step. Not a simple job but definitely doable. Great video. The truly ANNOYING part was trying to get the trigger pin out. Actually went to a gun smith and he got it out in a min. The banging didn't work, the jolting or movement of the spring. He popped it out from the bottom of the trigger with a punch. Overall I am completely satisfied and this video was easy to follow.

    First, this is a good video and walks you through the install step by step. There were a couple of things I found during my own install.
    1. When installing the screws into the trigger there isn't an explanation for which screw to use as Bill picks them up off of the table. The longer one would seem to be the top one based on the qualifier that it has to be flush with each edge of the trigger but I broke out a ruler and measured the pins on a still frame--he clearly uses the longer screw as the lower one and the shorter screw as the top one. Clarification would have helped at that step.
    2. Removing the pin inside the trigger was a real bear. I tried everything suggested with no luck. Exasperated, I drove out the roll pin holding the factory trigger and safety lever together. Voila! I was then able to use a punch to drive the pin inside the trigger from the bottom. Be aware that the factory trigger and safety lever also have a small spring. I was initially worried that I had somehow shaken loose a spring from somewhere important.
    3. Installing the pin inside the trigger didn't work at all for me with magnetic tools. It kept coming back out with the tool. Instead I used needle nose (not magnetic) pliers and was then able to play with the trigger in order to get everything lined up.
    I'll be heading to the range soon but being able to eliminate the trigger's pre-travel should be a great improvement.

    Did anyone notice the trigger has a lot of play side to side? At the time I felt this play, I had not adjusted the pre and post travel screws. Once I adjusted them, the play seemed to go away. Anyone getting this play in the trigger side to side, go through the adjustments, it should go away.
    As for the video, thank you for the step by step. However, I do have one thing to point out that I feel could have been touched on. The pre/post screws are different lengths, it wasn’t mentioned or clear on which screw was what. I had to screen shot as you had them laid out so I could see which one was longer and which one you picked up.

    • @TANDEMKROSS

      @@TANDEMKROSS So why does my rigger package come with two different screw sizes. I took the trigger out and reversed the screws, using the longer screw for the post travel and the shorter one for pre-travel. I am going to try it again. In hind sight I would have most likely have chosen the S&W as it has a lighter trigger pull. The only way to improve the actual trigger pull is to have a lighter trigger spring. I have a Glock that have several different trigger options and I have the Vogle trigger with close to 2.5 pounds. Being able to isolate the trigger finger is easier with lighter pull: understanding that this can be a safety concern if in the wrong hands or just being careless.

    I read in the manual to never pull the trigger during field striping it to clean and it can cause issues if you do. In the video, you put the slide on with the hammer up so it looked like it had its trigger pulled. Can you fill me in on what's up with that? Was there no parts in the stock trigger that made the center dingus thing act as s safety? I know this trigger disables that but what part of the install disabled it where it fires without it?

    • @TANDEMKROSS
      @TANDEMKROSS  3 года назад

      Simply dry-firing the pistol without the slide installed can damage the pistol. If you do not let the hammer down gently with your finger, the hammer can swing forward and hit parts that were not designed to be hit. By gently letting the hammer down, you relieve hammer spring tension without damaging any components.
      The trigger safety blade presses up against a shelf up inside the back of the trigger guard and prevents the trigger from moving back unless the trigger safety blade is pressed first so that it clears that shelf.

    You've got a guy in your video shooting the pistol right handed, but aiming with his left eye. Who cast this? Tommy Wiseau?

    • @TANDEMKROSS
      @TANDEMKROSS  3 года назад +3

      It's entirely possible to be right handed but left eye dominant. You just have to know that's the case and adjust for it.

      Cross dominant eye. Thats 1 way you can aim if you have that issue. I do too . It's taught in classes ways to compensate. You can even aim with both eyes but it takes practice.

    I have always watched the videos on every TK part I’ve installed on all my guns but I have to say I’m kind of glad I don’t own that gun! 🤦🏻‍♂️

      It's an intimidating install for sure! Now that I've done it a couple times, I realize that it's not really that hard, it's just long. I don't think it's as hard as our PMR30 trigger or even our SW22 trigger. But it's definitely a longer process than the SW22 one.

      I'm glad I DO own a RUGER 57. A better 5.7 x 28 pistol than the FN Five seveN for several reasons.
      I've improved the trigger on my PS90 with a simple drop-in part from Promoted Pawn but I really wonder how much improved this TandemKross trigger is in reducing creep and let-off distance.

      So why did you feel the need to comment on a video of a custom trigger for a gun you have no interest in? Do you actively search out videos of stuff you have no interest in just to hurl complaints and insults?

      So you traded a gen2 5.7 pistol with modernized components and full aftermarket support/customization abilities for a 30 year old gen1 5.7 pistol that has zero aftermarket support and no optic plate mounting points? Do you also use leaded gas and think the 1911 is peak pistol engineering?
