  • Ruger introduced the safe, reliable and proven Secure Action™ fire-control system in 2016 with the LCP® II, followed by the Security-9®, and the Ruger-57™ pistols. The Secure Action™ combines a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. The trigger has a short, smooth pull, clean break and positive reset. Two new Ruger Tech Tip videos, The Ruger-57™ Secure Action™ and Ruger Secure Action™ Pistols, give an inside look at the robust safety features and innovative engineering behind these exciting Ruger® products.

I’ve never owned a Ruger pistol before. I have owned a super red hawk as well as a GP 100 damn fine revolvers. I’ve wanted a 5.7 for years but the FN wasn’t the one for me. Now I’m the proud owner of a Ruger 57 and I love it!! I bought it a month ago and am very happy thus far. This weapon has a titanium firing pin, very nice!

Thank you for this video Ruger. This really helped my understanding of the internal safeties employed. Specifically, the secondary hammer catch, which gives me much more confidence carrying the LCP Max chambered. I have seen a lot of discussion on forums where people don't understand this and make misinformed statements about the LCP Max being unsafe or untrusted to carry with a round chambered.

I own all 3. Ruger LCP II in .380. Ruger Security-9 and the Ruger 57. Great firearms all 3!!!
I want the .LCP II in .22LR, but I feel that they are 50-70 dollars overpriced. Especially in the era that we are now in. I already have 4 spare mags for the little pistol, just need to find a deal on the firearm.

Very cool explanation. I plan on getting one of these within the next year or two. I like a lot of things about the pistol coming from a Security 9, especially that reversible mag release since I'm a lefty and that's pretty much my only issue with the Sec9.

Wait, this is a lever-delayed blowback? 1:33 they say, "As the bullet travels down the barrel, the barrel and slide move rearward at different speeds under control of the locking cam." The locking cam is the lever in a lever-delayed blowback.

  • @johnsaxtorph3300

Ruger has discovered that a small number of Ruger-57™ pistols may have right safety levers that do not meet our specifications and may be prone to cracking. In some rare instances, the internal "leg" of the right safety lever may crack or break, rendering the manual safety ineffective. If present, this condition may cause the manual safety to appear to be functioning properly when it is not. Although only a very small number of pistols appear to be affected, Ruger is committed to safety and is asking owners of Ruger-57 pistols to immediately perform a routine function check of the safety lever to ensure its proper operation and, if necessary, sign up for this retrofit.
Potentially affected pistols include any Ruger-57 pistol with a serial number of 642-26274 or lower (including all Ruger-57 pistols with a “641” prefix). If your Ruger-57 pistol is within this range (641-00000 to 642-26274), you should follow the inspection procedure outlined in the Safety Bulletin to determine whether your pistol requires a retrofit. Ruger-57 pistols with a serial number of 642-26275 and above are not affected by this Safety Bulletin.

I hate 2 things people say about Ruger 57 this video proves it's drop safe and people say the 5.7x28 is a 22 lr but it's the exact dimentions as a ar-15 223 just short like 22lr and the 22 short this ammo is a ar-15 short search 223 40 grain and compare it's the exact same bullet 223 are 5.7 in diameter search that too just a standard 223 is 55 grain but one company makes 55gr 5.7 bullets they are just extremely rare I wish they'd make more 55gr 5.7 bullets so it would literally be a standard ar-15 round in a handgun that's why this bullet is alot more deadly than people give it credit for cuz it doesn't weigh alot or big like a 40 or 45 but it goes very fast and tumbles and it's flatter shooting than any other caliber Ruger 5.7 is my favorite gun and my carry gun

@@kylegrimm8808 did you not see that secondary catch that captures the hammer if the trigger isn't all the way rearward?? A quick critique of this pistol: 1. Not fond of the FCU which for me has too many loose moving parts pins, springs etc. 2. Please do not mess with my ability to manipulate the slide stop/release. Ruger has this newfound interest in blocking the slide release/ stop with the way they now produce their pistols. 3. The finish on their pistols suck, it's the same DS finish they have always used...so yeah it will most likely rust. For me, I regret buying this pistol for 700.00. I could have bought a Masada and still had money to buy ammo.
