    A lot of difficulty in learning this game is it seems a majority of the game is planning ahead, hence the strategy element, but as a new player I don't know what I am planning ahead for lmao. It becomes a catch 22 or something xD. I have played a few games (haven't finished any) but am learning as I go and also watching several tutorial type videos. Your videos have been very informative and helpful so thank you very much!

      Glad my videos are helping you get a handle on the game. I think once you get a few late game situations under your belt you’ll have a better idea of what you’re working towards. Put very simply: more culture and science always gets you where you’re going faster, while more production gets things done quicker.

      @@Normul8or I did and gleamed some insights. Just won a tourism victory with Sumeria but I was on a fairly easy difficulty, 3rd or 4th. But I certainly made plenty of spacial awareness errors and tried to do everything at once district wise. And some buildings I still don't get what they do, maybe that would be a good tutorial, explaining what buildings are useful at what times.

    Incredibly useful info and much appreciated, thanks bro. Just managed to get my base to the latest era and still hanging in there. Btw, more people may show up because the game is at 80% off on the ps store xD maybe other platforms too. And in case anyone else has this issue like me (my bf got it on the pc and some controls seem to be different/in other locations):
    1. In the very first video you mention displaying your item stocks - these are perma visible on the ps version and are on the right right under your town city thing buttons where you can get new troops etc
    2. If you want to get rid of troops, you have an arrow button next to each troop that you need to click to display the button to get rid of (bf kept telling me to press the + button and the frustration that went with it was real xD
    3. I am yet to figure out how to hover over your resources up in the upper left ... if any ps squad person does, lemme know.
    If i find more stuff, I’ll come back to add. Again, ty lots for these dude and please never stop doing tutorials. Also i like the calmness and jokes.

    I really like how you break down the governments, so easy to follow and you tell us why! Not sure about the teir 4 choice BUT you provide a very strong argument... and typically if you get to that level -10% tourism won't be a big deal. If you think that -10% could lose you a culture lead keep in mind that that power can add to your culture points (via broadcast towers) makeing it much harder for AI to establish that tourism lead. I do like this idea.

    • @pdraggy
      @pdraggy 4 года назад +2

      so agree with you about the Taj :p I always target it. (so often that I used to reach the end of an era one or two era points behind a golden age :/ I HATE the normal age...)

      @pdraggy 4 года назад +1

      Also did you know you can click on the big city state icon and it'll show you just how many envoys other civs have in the city state? I accidentally found this out recently and I only did this once, so I could be wrong lol -_- but it's worth the try. It may be my UI mod actually (the Simple UI potato uses)

    • @pdraggy

      I would consider getting a highly upgraded scout. If you've ever had one with the +20 strength promotion you know that guy becomes a MONSTER add in the terrain bonuses and he's a FAST MONSTER plus scouts get upgrades very quickly, are both ranged AND meelee so can take cities... their just underrated and they come in the vanilla game no expansion needed!

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  4 года назад +1

      Really glad you enjoyed the breakdown of the governments! The reasoning for not taking the -10% tourism isn’t for fear of losing, it’s just that it would slow down the victory, so why bother?

    Are the +50% influence points from Monarchy not valuable in going for a diplomatic victory? I am fairly new to Civilization (3 games, 1st I was clueless, 2nd & 3rd I won diplomatic victories. Part of my strategy in the two wins was Monarchy and being suzrein of several city states. My most reccent win I controlled all four on my continent the whole game! Still playing Prince mode, still lots to learn...

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +3

      Not sure how I never saw this comment. I only noticed it when I came to reply to another comment on this same video. Monarchy is indeed very important for acquiring additional influence points if diplomatic victory is your intention or if you're looking to hold more City States. This video is actually a little out of day when it comes to government choices actually, because they made an adjustment to how many policy slots there are in each category and Merchant Republic actually got nerfed while Monarchy got buffed, so now you get your extra influence points and a good mix of policy slots, where as before the policy slots for Monarchy were to big of a detriment to your Sim to make it worth staying in it for very long.

    Question plz- I have set up a multiplayer game, 2 humans, 2 CPU. I have set the little team numbers on the setup screen so that we are team 1 and team 2- hopefully creating a coop game ‘humans vs AI’ with goal being ‘domination’ only. My question is this please- if we two human destroy the 2 CPU opponents, will the game end (as wanted) with us 2 joint victors, or will it then expect us (the two humans) to fight against each other to have one overall winner before the game ends?
    My aim is to create a purely coop match and not to have to fight against my bro-law to end game. Thank u (ps. Xbox version if that makes any dif, as my bro-law doesn’t have a gaming pc)

    Watching this in 2021 and thinking about playing this again. Lotta good stuff so far. Haven't watched this one yet.
    The thing that bothers me about CIV VI is how long it takes to build everything.

    Been doing my first game with my gf in multiplayer. I’m zooming through the tech and civ trees that it feels overwhelming or I don’t get any use out of most of them.
    Im on warlord with all the AI on prince, I feel like my culture and science are pretty high but it’s hard to tell as it is our fist game.
    Idk what else to say other than that if feels weird

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  2 года назад

      Some techs won’t be of use to you, and others will have a passive effect you won’t even notice, like increasing yields of tiles. After more games played you’ll start to have a better idea of which techs you want to get for your play style and the victory you are going for.

    What are the three rightmost icons in the top left corner - near the "Great works" icon?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +1

      Those are icons that you'll see when you have the expansions. From left to right, the cloud on blue background is the global climate screen which tracks everything around the gathering storm expansion including level of Co2 and all of the different environmental events. The next on is a hand holding a pen on a more brown background and that is your governor screen. The Rise & Fall expansion introduced 7 governors that could be established in cities to give them bonuses to things like science, culture, religious play or military. The final one is a scroll and that tracks y our era score which you accumulate from one era to the next to determine if you will be going into a dark age, normal age, or golden age. The concept of era score was also introduced in the R&F expansion.

    Is it a good thing to get rid of all forests, bananas, stones etc asap?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  4 года назад +1

      Anything that gives production I typically plan to get rid of in the first half of the game. Exceptions are in generally flat cities where production is a struggle, then I'll go with lumbermills. If you can chop a tree or stone off a hill and then simply mine it right after for equal or more production, why not right? Speeding up wonders to reep the benefits faster as well as ensure the AI doesn't steal it off you is a great trade off. Also, speeding up important districts in order to get their yields online sooner is also very important.
      When it comes to food yields it depends on the needs of the city. I try to eat at least 1 food yield tile as soon after founding a city as possible in order to jump it to pop 3 or 4 right away. If there is marsh around then great, otherwise wheat/rice does the trick. I typically don't eat Banana as it can provide the housing along with gold from plantation, which is better than just food yield that it provides. Remember that food has a diminishing return the higher your population goes.
      Hope this clears some things up! Thanks for watching.

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад

      I'm not 100% sure my wording in various videos, but to clarify: Turn 50 is a pretty good target to get to political philosophy on stardard speed. Any faster is very good. If it takes you longer than 60 you need to find ways to improve. Hope this clears things up a bit.
