    This is amazing! But I have questions:
    - How do you keep all those settlers safe? What about barbarians or warring civilizations?
    - Now that you chopped down like 6 forests around your capital, isn't it going to have lower, crappier production for the rest of the game? How do you compensate for that? Do you re-plant some of the forests later?
    - What if you discover a new continent... will you do the settler spam again? Surely you'd need to pick another city, with more forests available to chop, right?
    - For me, Pingala's "Researcher" promotion only does "+20% production towards campus buildings in this city." Why? Did he get nerfed in one of the expansions?

      @Normul8or  3 года назад +29

      1) When the timing is right, you should put in Agoge card and get out a couple units to keep your area safe from Barbs. In a situation where you're warring a neighbour then you're likely going to have to delay some of the settler spam to get out units to defend before resuming.
      2) You prioritize getting out extra builders with +2 charge card on and make sure your capitals land is fully developed after doing all these chops. That means mining every hill and improving all resources that have yet to be done. If your land is really flat (ie. many of the woods tiles are not on hills) then it might be worth considering keeping one or two of the trees to put lumber mills on. Also keep in mind if you have jungle tiles around on flat land you can lumber mill those later in the game to make up for some lost production also.
      3) By the time you are doing this settler chopping you should have done enough scouting to see all land worth developing. If that includes another continent with different luxuries then certainly you'd want to send some settlers in that direction as priority. Generally speaking 8 to 12 cities is a pretty good target.
      4) I honestly can't remember all the different versions of Pingala going back to when he was introduced. I know they've done multiple tweaks on him and some others to get them to a place where they are happy.
      Hope all this helps. Thanks for watching!

    These guides so far have been amazing. I know this is a little older, but I would love for some more! (I haven’t dug through the channel yet to find any but will do soon!) I consider myself an ok player. I’ve played Civ VI on and off a bit since the release of rise and fall and it’s my first Civ game. These guides help me understand so much that I just felt like the game couldn’t explain as easy

    First 80% of the video, I was like "yeah, seen this all before, I can get set up faster than this, 4 cities by turn 50..."
    But then the turn 55-63 section comes with all those settlers going out at the same time... That was just crazy!

    Why are you using a top 5% situation, where you get all these random boosts, for your tutorial for beginner/intermediate players. You should use a situation in the 40-60%ile.

    Hey, Man ! Amazing video.
    I don't know if you find time to answer this late, but still.
    Will it be better / matter if you build Government Plaza and Ancestral Hall in the second city?
    You will save district slot for Pinata's Great People point generation promotion later and loyalty is better in your forward city, and you don't have to move him between cities.
    Thanks !

    Hey man loving your tutorials are you going to be covering governors anytime soon?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  4 года назад +3

      I did a "How to Win Civ 6" tutorial this past weekend which should be pretty easy to find. In that I cover early governor strategy. It isn't a full on breakdown by any means but may be helpful. As far as a full governor strategy tutorial, I don't have one planned super soon but eventually for sure. Thanks for watching, really happy you're enjoying the tutorials!

    • @Normul8or

      Not an add on. Above the mini map at the bottom left there is a tack icon you click on to open a menu that you use to pin the map. It’s part of the vanilla game. Thanks for watching by the way. Glad you’re continuing to enjoy!

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +1

      I play in a variety of maps and sizes. Usually plays small or standard. I really like seven seas these days. Lots of space usually. Also, highlands gives you lots of space as well if that is what you’re looking for.

    Thanks for the video! It was really informative. Is it ever worth it to wait until feudalism and serfdom before settling the cities? This game you had really strong culture and didn’t grab feudalism before settling, so I wondered if it’s just not worth the wait time?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  4 года назад +3

      It is absolutely worth waiting for the extra 2 charges if you’re 3 or 4 turns away. In this case, despite the early culture success I was still 15 to 20 turns away from feudalism which is definitely way to long. Often times after the initial settler spam you have to find time to grind out some extra settlers to fill out the land you’ve got, and often times those stragglers are timed nicely for feudalism and need the extra charges to get moving since they are coming on line much later. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!

    I'm confused about what I can chop when. Did you have to improve the stone in order to shop it? Is it only deer and stone and woods that can be chopped?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  4 года назад

      I may have improved the stone with a quarry to get the eureka boost but then removed it in order to chop it out. All features and bonus resources can be harvested for yields.

    Quick question... after CoL, what order do you knock out the next few Civics? Craft-FT-SW-EE-Pol Phil? or is it just dependent on your boosts?

    • @kennethwright5664
      @kennethwright5664 3 года назад +2

      BTW, awesome video. Thank you for making this guide!

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +2

      It can depend a lot on the timing of what you can get boosts, but I often try to head to the Colonization card as quick as possible to speed up one or two settlers in the early game. Either way it is always straight to Pol Phil as quick as possible to open up your first government asap! One thing I will do sometimes if I'm having Barb issues or have an early aggresive neighbour is double back for Craftsman to get Agoge card in.

    Is it really worth it going for a playstyle with clumped up cities and chopping most features instead of focusing a bit on development? I mean I know the capital's gonna get huge with districts, so might chop some and in the long the settlers will pay out, but wouldn't you rather have fewer cities which are more spread out and less chopped features for better development?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +1

      In a word, No. Civilization VI is a game about getting more cities, not less. The districts are what fuel the victory conditions and more cities mean more of each of the important specialty districts. Chopping down trees (particularly those on hills) is an excellent way of speeding up the tempo of your game and get faster cities and districts. This game is all about snowballing so the earlier you have things done the sooner you get momentum from the investment. If a city has lots of hills then mine them and chop everything. If a city has limited hills and production then you'll want to put lumbermills on at least some of the trees and rainforest. Chopping is the answer! :)

    • @Normul8or

      Sounds like you have the original version without any of the expansions. Keep your eyes open and you should be able to find a really good deal on the Platinum expansion which includes both Rise & Fall and Gathering Storm, in addition to the other DLC that they released early on.

  • @Yegie

    I don't really get this, I don't play this game that much, but on higher difficult wouldn't the ai have already attacked by turn 50? Especially when the player is putting nothing into military?

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +1

      On higher difficulties there is a bigger chance if you have a close neighbour they may attack you. Certainly if you’re playing on higher difficulties that would have to be a consideration and you may want to make an adjustment to your build order to spit out some slingers/archers with the Agoge card on to guard against any aggression. The point of this guide was to focus on the steps to expand your empire quickly and I didn’t want to confuse the viewer with other thoughts.

    8 cities by turn 60?! Man I suck... lol

    • @Normul8or
      @Normul8or  3 года назад +2

      Those are some ideal circumstances and executed with precision. Start by trying to get 8 as fast as you possibly can and then work on your timing to speed it up. Maybe aim for 8 in 80. If you can get 8 by 80 you're doing very well!
