I think the problem is paying 40k for a 20k vehicle. The Lariat package is just not worth 20k. In the end, you're left with all the reasons it's a budget vehicle.
That could be true. The big thing that pushed me to the Lariat was push to start, and I also wanted the lux package too. That's why I ended up getting everything😂
while I agree that it is a budget vehicle the things he lists should be upgraded in the higher packages except for the hood and ground clearance, like better paint, audio and screens are a reasonable thing to expect for twice the vehicle price.
I have 18k and alto blue .. fully equipped Lariat and the paint sucks ! I had to wrap the front end !! There’s a bad vibration in the floor board when the radios on loud !! I have the upgraded stereo I use both the wireless charger and I wire it and I have iPhone 14 So far it’s been a pretty solid build .. ordered it on sept 2021 it arrived Dec 31 2021 👍🏽
I'd rather get wireless connectivity in the Lariat package than wireless charging. Only time it's come un useful is when a passenger was low on battery and we didn't have a wire charger that fit their phone.
I noticed the hood as well when going through the car wash. Makes me wince a bit each time I go through. My audio cuts out sometimes as well. There’s this little “thwip” of static, about 1 second passes and then it’s on again. Really odd. For the garage door opener, I used some 3M Velcro to attach it inside the cubby by the radio. It has a clip but I don’t like putting stuff on my visor. Works great, easily within reach to tap the button.
You might check and see if your garage door is MyQ capable, that’s what I use. Works very well. If not, look for something like that whenever you change garage door openers, belt drive is super quite btw. Hood denting in at car washes, I had that with a Toyota FJ I used to own and I don’t believe that was aluminum. Haven’t noticed it on my explorer which does have an aluminum hood. I wonder if there might be some sort of under hood support you could add to stop this, like a few extra strips of flat aluminum to brace it. To attach, high heat automotive epoxy or a few tig welds should do the trick.
I have a xlt and I don’t have bad chips on mine just basic for 15k miles. Only problem I do have is my phone won’t connect or it will drop my phone but it’s super rare.
Sounds like you wanted an F-150 Lariat. You want a bigger screen - they were going to put in a 10" with Sync 4 but it cost too much. They already had the screen frame designed when the decision was made. That's per a Ford trainer. Would you rather pay $350 for self-dimming mirror with Homelink option or buy a Kia mirror with Homelink for $15 and install it yourself? Many vehicles are going to aluminum hoods for weight savings, better gas mileage.
Go to zeibart and get the zseal ceramic coating and get your truck rust proofed that's my plan when I get my 2024 maverick I think the cost for both is around 1800 its a package deal worthe the money
Hey, I i have an issue with have the Lariat Ford Maverick with a great sound system B & O. No issues on the sound or freezing at sll. I do have a problem with the windshield, its a double pane windshield and I have had my third windshield crack in the same spot right aling the Driver pillar and just go straight down the middle of my line of sight! I was offered to get unlimited window replacements for the life of my Maverick at purchase fore $1,000 more and I refused! Big mistake! This is unheard of in Texas but, with this Maverick, its warranted! Is it just flimsy? Its supposed to drown out the motor noise.
I own a 2022 XLT Ford Maverick and I agree the paint job is cheap, sound proofing under the hood, the rear or between the inner fender’s and the cabin is not to be found , this vehicle does not seem to be secure in an accident,it does look structurally weak. Thx for the vid.
I have an xlt 4k and mostly love it. My annoyance is auto start/stop disable at every cycle. I see there is a disabler for that but just the point of having to spend extra $$ is annoying.

I have a 2023 maverick lariat hybrid. Haven't noticed any issues with the hood being flimsy even when going 80mph on I-95. And I always use the wireless charger because I just play music via bluetooth via the youtube music app. I saw someone install fog lights then put switches to control them in the cubby next to the infotainment screen, but other than that and phone holder mods that cubby seems useless.
The wireless charger is perfect if you're using Bluetooth, but if you want to take advantage of Apple carplay and/or Android auto, it seems impractical. The switch in the cubby sounds like a good idea👍
@@deserttrek there's a garmin kit I use to connect to the usb-c port when I want to use android auto wirelessly. Though I rarely use it. Only one time when I did a short road trip. I don't understand why they don't have wireless car play on the lariat lux though. Should be built-in.
Good video. Same issues I have with my Lariat. The problem is the Lariat is not a premium trim on the Maverick like it is on the Ranger and F-150. It's lipstick on a pig. The audio issue is present on my Lariat Lux as well, as well as on the Bronco Sport. Ford doesn't care. I'll also add that the interior plastic is dogshit.

wireless charger gets hot quick and is slow. my phone closes apps . i have a wireless android adapter that works great. it connects right away. i also think the windshield chips super easily. i have dozens already. my old cars from the 90s none. what is up with that?
You bought a low level pick up truck the reason why it’s so cheap the base price is that they skimped on certain things. All those concerns you had would be fixed but then that $23000+\- msrp would be $32000. I’m actually getting one regardless
I have the same truck with the Lariat package and I can't figure out why there is no garage door opener either. I made a holder for my garage door opener that goes in the useless cubby. Not having the radio issue, but I use Apple so maybe that's it? I put in wireless CarPlay, so I use the wireless charger. I hate the brakes. You push and push and nothing happens, then they catch. My in laws Escape doesn't have this problem. Ford is supposed to address this, but so far, nothing.
I will be posting a video within the week on remedying the garage door opener👍 My brakes are ok, but I did go from a beater car to a brand new vehicle, so I guess I assume that is how cars are supposed to brake😂
@@deserttrek I’ve driven a ton of beaters with and without power brakes. These brakes are bizarre. Totally non-linear. It’s the worst when you are trying to ease up on them. They get to a point where they are either on or off. You cannot be gentle.
Your problem is you overpaid. I bought the base model and did some simple, cheap upgrades (Holy crap do the base speakers suck). For a $20k truck, mine is perfect (I paid about $24k). The Maverick is NOT worth $40k, though. If you did those upgrades yourself, it would probably cost an extra $5-8k. Ford charges $650 for that wireless charger, for example. At $40k I'd step up to a Tacoma, but I'd get worse mileage.

This is true, but I bet in the next couple of model years, the screen will get bigger at a similar price point. My problem is when companies leave "room for improvement" just so they can say a 2025 is better than a 2022 if that makes sense.
I run into the same issue with the radio. If I use my Bluetooth for music, it randomly cuts out. If I’m plugged in, it doesn’t really happen. 100%, I’m a bit disappointed with the things you mentioned. But don’t get me wrong, it’s a great truck. What I’ve noticed too is my black wheels weren’t fully painted. Inside the wheel is slightly lighter than outside. And it looks like there’s dirt between the spokes when it’s just the paint job. I ordered mine, the dealership I ordered from stated that they wouldn’t add any additional fees, that is until I went to pick it up and painted me into a box for 15% more. Honolulu Ford…you suck and I won’t do business with you again and definitely won’t recommend you to anyone.
My 2021 Mustang GT Premium does the same thing with the radio while playing music from my cell. Every once and a while the sound cuts out for a split second. Must be a ford software issue across the board.

But after another hour or two after being put in the financing room and signing hundreds of pages all indicated 32k, however they completely under the table whizzed one past us and on the last two pages without us noticing they upped the price to 38k out the door which infuriates me. So after financing with 7k down it will be about 44k in the end. I left a terrible review since they changed the price on me last minute and the guy called me and said we’ll you signed the papers. They had us sign hundreds of sheets all to distract us from the ones that actually mattered. Never buying a ford again after this
I was super lucky. In 2022, car max and dealers were charging at least 10k over asking. I saw a lariat trim with the luxury package with only 5k miles for sale for 34.9k. A new one is 36.7k. I was able to get that price without dealer markups or added options. Meanwhile, across the street car max, they were selling the same trim for 51k. At that time, I couldn't believe people would pay so much over asking. But I guess if you really want it you'll do it. I was sad I didn't get a brand new one, but mine was perfect. Not a single scratch or anything. Looked brand new.

Infact, I wonder just how long it will take for them to be called something orher than a "phone". Maybe, "Emotional support gadget", since actually making a phone call on a phone is the last thing most people do with them. The paint already showing chips is crazy too. All things aside, if these Mavericks had a small cab 6' bed option I would want one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm pretty sure these complaints you have are far outweighed by how many reasons you're happy with this vehicle.

Get the motorola wireless bluetooth dongle for android auto. Then your wireless charger can do its thing as it autoconnects.

I hate that all the doors don’t unlock when the driver door opens and don’t seem to get them all to unlock with the door code either
Check in your settings, I think you can change it to unlock all 4

Did you get the paint protection film?
I did not, so I'd recommend it if you are planning on getting a Maverick

Rock chips suck. I really want PPF on the front bumper/hood.
I regret not getting the PPF so much! Weird though most of the chips I have are on the side of the truck, not the bumper or hood.

Yeah, it is a great truck, and I recommend it for most people. With that said, it does have its downsides
