  • This has to be my favorite upgrade so far! The intake/turbo noises sound so good👌. Its not just the sound either, according to K&N the intake adds 7hp and 10lbft of torque! I am super happy with everything about it and would recommend it to anyone who likes the intake noise and has $350 to spend.
    Thank you all for watching and for all your encouraging comments. As always I'll see you on the next one✌️

    $79, remove the old filter, replace with K&N and get +5hp ... for $270 less ... oh, and a 5% increase in fuel mileage.

      I tried to record it for you guys but you couldn't tell from the audio. The best way I could describe it is when the turbo spools up you get an induction noise (think a sucking sound) that sounds almost like a jet engine and when you let off the throttle you get the turbo blow off noise. Let me know it that helps, if not I'll try to make a youtube short to capture the sound.

    Hi so I installed mine and I have the 2.0 Turbo and I’m hearing a lot of what sounds like turbo boost waste like a waste gate. I checked everything multiple times and everything is on tight etc. So is this sound normal with cold air intake on a turbo vehicle?

    • @deserttrek
      @deserttrek  Год назад

      Yes, the factory air box does a great job at muffuling the sound so that is to be expected

      @@deserttrek what is the benefit of installing a strut brace in a maverick? I was advised against it, but figured it would at least increase the life span of my struts 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @deserttrek
      @deserttrek  Год назад

      No, the truck is fine just the way it is. The strut tower brace helps to stiffen the chassis, so during turns, you won't have as much body roll but the suspension will feel slightly more harsh.

    • @deserttrek
      @deserttrek  Год назад +1

      Personally, I like the ride of the truck better now, and I don't notice the suspension being more rough. With that said, if you have no issues with the ride quality stock, I'd save your money👍

      @@deserttrek I agree it does look pretty badass, but since it's a cold intake does that mean it does better in the winter? And what about miles per gallon?

    • @deserttrek
      @deserttrek  Год назад +1

      The theory on how a cold air intake works is you want cold air in your engine because the air molecules will be closer together when cold, and that means more air can be in each cylinder, giving you a more complete combustion. The way a cold air intake "cools" the air is it is made from non-heat transferring materials and the air filter has a heat shield around it so heat from the engine is less likely to be sucked into the intake. It also helps that K&N uses a less restrictive air filter so more air can be sucked in at any given moment. Let me know it that made any sense😅 I haven't noticed a difference in mpg

  • @phileasler5401

    Take that thing off the truck son, you are making it worse. No joke, the oem air box sucks air from outside the engine bay, with this "cold air intake" you are moving the inlet inside the engine bay. Not sure where you get that hp/torque gains from but these intakes do not add anything.
