But Metallica held there ground eventually and refused to do one which is why they were so adamant not to do a video for so long until they got full creative control and decision making to do one which they eventually did with 'One'
Kirk inspired me so much dude I’m so thankful, I love guitar and metal. He wrote so many memorable parts on Metallica, I don’t understand the hate. He’s a great player and riff writer. Also great editing like usual.🤘🔥 the damage inc one is always so heavy and cool every time. Like he is responsible for some of their most iconic songs. I also really like my apocalypse riff, it’s so cool and unique and death magnetic is a good album imo up there with hardwired and 72 seasons.
I've taken a real liking to trapped under ice now later in life it seems to be alot of kirks riffs I'm liking more now maybe they were ahead of their time some music can be like that then later your like woah!

The cover tunes also pull from a variety of sources. James’ vocal style is not operatic, nor does he utilize a high falsetto range. I think it’s fair to give them the broader title. Sub-genre labels are BS anyway. As the Beatles responded to the questions, “are you Rockers or Mods?”, they responded we’re “Mockers.” When my band covers Metallica, women start to dance. They wouldn’t do that if we play, Iron Maiden (I love them, no disrespect), Savatage, King Diamond (meh!) or Slayer.
What can I say, Kirk Hammett brought some excellent and memorable riffs to Metallica. Although many fans criticize him, some praise his work that he has done in Metallica, myself included. Solo is considered an arrangement not really a composition as it is layered over a rhythm guitar track that is composed by James. So that might be the reason why Metallica doesn’t give credit on solos

Kirks melodic ability is underrated imo. Yeah, his new solos suck to a degree but dude, look at it this way and they don't.. they fit the melodic structure he wrote with James into the riffs of the last two albums. When you look at music from a further stand point away from the "I just listen to it cause it's good" side and look further into the structure, the scales they use and the specific notes and melodies you'll notice the songs riffs and solos are perfect for each other. James is a perfect example of a master at this. Look at master of puppets. The interlude solo is the best part in the song due to its way of conveying emotion.
He is also the one who wrote the intro and verse riff from master of puppets....Kirk actually brought "downpicking" to metallica because he was a big "Ramones" fan 🔥

I wasnt aware that he was responsible for so many of the pre-black riffs. Makes it so much weirder that they didnt let him participate to the writing of Hardwired which was suppose to be backtotheroots-way of making an album.

Thanks for putting this together but I really question 90% of these. I can see one or two Lightning riffs besides "Escape," and maybe some St. Anger riffs but everything else is very questionable. The reason why is that they all sound like riffs James would write and also in his own style (plenty examples of him just jamming.) And this is just me talking out of my ass, but I would bet Kirk was more inspired by James riff writing than James was of Kirks. I think Kirk is a great guitar player and great riff writer but most of these have Hetfield written all over them.
